A case of bndd - can the hospital just charge it to our bill and name this little man

I have been truly inspired by Ohio mom of two, [name]Kristen[/name] Hunger. She labeled and defined BNDD ([name]Baby[/name] Name Desensitization Disorder) giving me a life raft on my quest to no where it seemed. She is currently pregnant with her 3rd after having two beautiful babies with names she was madly in love with and then developed this horrid disorder (BNDD). I thought I was all alone and hopeless until reading her post; all of the sudden I found much needed hope and a little relaxation in her story.

Like [name]Kristen[/name] and her husband, we are pregnant only this time around with our 4th child which happens to be our 3rd boy. I have three beautiful and wonderful children named as follows: [name]Vaughn[/name] (m), [name]Rogan[/name] (m) and [name]Berkley[/name] (f). My husband and I are, [name]Jason[/name] and [name]Kim[/name] [name]Smith[/name]. That’s right folks the most common name in [name]America[/name]. My husband had to have all of his mail marked by social security number at college as there were several other [name]Jason[/name]'s with the same middle name in his dorm. Upon getting married we quickly found that our financial system and government is not as proactive, they do not operate by social security number when researching who is fiscally responsible. Needless to say the other [name]Jason[/name]/[name]Kim[/name] [name]Smith[/name]‘s in our area both individually and together have some incredibly bad habits in regards to NOT paying their bills. This falls on our shoulders and our two friends’ to sign and verify affidavits any time we want to purchase property or refinance. Dabbling in real estate property you can imagine the headache this creates in bothering our friends! Needless to say our quest is taken VERY SERIOUSLY in finding names that are unique and something that we like. [name]Rogan[/name] and [name]Berkley[/name] do not even register on our [name]Baby[/name] Name Social Security rankings for our state. Much to our chagrin [name]Berkley[/name] has become very popular in this area - so much for our try on that one.

Much as [name]Kristen[/name] has described BNDD has left me feeling unexcited by any and every name otu there. I have scoured books, the entire internet and movies to review credits for a whopping NOTHING in the naming department for this very loved little man. This leaves me feeling apathetic and numb just like [name]Kristen[/name] so eloquently described with her entire BNDD process. I want a name that I fall in complete love with. A name that inspires me and where I dream of his life, future and greatness (I’m already doing that of course I would just like a name to go along with my visions)!

You should also know that I married an amazing man who is the love of my life! When it comes to names this is an area that we can truly butt heads! He has been integral in naming ALL of our children. With [name]Berkley[/name] he heard the name and that was it, he refused to look or hear anything else. I was skeptical and had a 2nd name picked out which was [name]Bryn[/name] until my boss and I chatted about the name they had for their baby girl due a few months after our baby girl. That conversation resulted in us going back to having just [name]Berkley[/name] needless to say. My husband is a big pile of goo when our babies are born and even gave me the golden ticket with [name]Berkley[/name] when she arrived. He was so in love with her and everyone that names didn’t matter to him at that moment like they had in the past. Needless to say not having a backup ready to go really took me by surprise. Another huge surprise was when I looked at her all I could see was my little precious and beautiful [name]Berkley[/name] [name]Lena[/name], that was who she truly was!

So, cut to pregnancy #4 and my sweet lovable hubby is at it again. He has fallen madly in love with the name [name]Oscar[/name] and refuses to hear or look at other naming options. This time around I want something that I am madly in love with and I will stop at nothing until I find it. I have also told him this and I refuse to be caught with my pants down when this baby comes (okay that was a bad analogy but ya catch my drift ha,ha)!

Clearly in my quest I am left empty handed and wondering if I should just give in and let [name]Oscar[/name] grow on me… I do like the nickname [name]Ozzy[/name] but, I do not feel the flow of it and well, very apathetic to this name choice overall. All the men’s names in this family end with an n… [name]JasoN[/name], [name]VaughN[/name], [name]RogaN[/name]… The females are [name]Kimberly[/name] and [name]Berkley[/name]. This was not planned and something that certainly does not have to continue but, I would love our final boys name to end in an N to keep the ‘flow’ if you will. Is that the nuttiest thing ya’ll have ever heard?

I do have baby naming requirements that I am willing to throw out in a heartbeat upon finding that name that finally clicks with me (if that is to happen this go round). I feel they are not over the top but, I am open to the fact I have lost my sanity on this issue long ago

  1. I would like the name to end in N
  2. I would like to avoid J, K, V, R, and B initials, if possible
  3. I think a two+ syllable name would flow better with [name]Smith[/name] than a one syllable name
  4. I want a unique name that does not leave people curling their lips upon hearing it, as well as embodying a strong, gender specific feeling

I am completely out of my league on this one and maybe I just need some positive reinforcement? Am I being to greedy or searching for the unattainable, it is very possible! The hospital staff may indeed be in charge of naming this little munchkin

I will throw out my favorite names that have made my short list… although not many fit your criteria, but hey, you never know! After scouring the world as well to find the perfect, and unusual name for our 4th child (we have 3 sons and do not know what this baby is yet)

Truett
[name]Devereaux[/name]
Fawkes
Evroux
Catesby
Norther
[name]Ransom[/name]
Fender
[name]Jasper[/name]
[name]Fallon[/name]
[name]Matisse[/name]
[name]Flynn[/name]
Escher
[name]Powell[/name]
[name]Laken[/name]
[name]Falcon[/name]
Strummer

There you go… I have about a zillion more that I love, let me know what you think of any of these and I might have some good variations for you as well. Good luck!

I think most of these fit your criteria.

I like:
[name]Quinlan[/name]
[name]Gannon[/name]
[name]Flynn[/name]
Stratton
[name]Corwin[/name]
[name]Wilson[/name]
[name]Lennon[/name]
[name]Darwin[/name]
[name]Finnian[/name]
[name]Truman[/name]

I was so scared to click back in here and feared no one would have suggested anything. That would mean I truly was left to my own devises which, is not safe for me (I’m okay with that but, for this little baby to deal with it for the rest of his life tisk, tisk, tisk on me). I think I have to be over the whole N thing at the end of the name. I have to open this up so something can hit me (thank goodness I have a few months to deal with this).

Full disclosure I do have two names that I LOOOOVEEE and both are taken by incredibly close friends of the family and my cousins took the other…
[name]Nolan[/name] and [name]Sullivan[/name]

Okay names on the list that I like hubby is not into them but, I think I covered that in my original post.
[name]Truman[/name]
[name]Corwin[/name] (I’m not sure but, I may like it)
[name]Devereaux[/name] (This I really like but, my hubby would NEVER allow it)
Evroux
[name]Jasper[/name]
[name]Flynn[/name]
[name]Laken[/name]

someone also said [name]Callen[/name] or [name]Callan[/name]. I kinda like it along with [name]Cohen[/name]. Nothing of a deep love or anything just yet. I feel that I should be completely in [name]Love[/name] to really go all out with the hubby on this topic

[name]Glad[/name] you liked some of my suggestions, I have been hot on the hunt for some more (you and I must be kindred spirits as far as searching for that “perfect” name for this baby! Oh, and I sort of cam across a variation of Evroux, what about Avreau? pronounced “[name]Ah[/name]-vrow” I think it has a charming ring to it.

Ok, so on to some other wild names I have fallen for recently:

[name]Sailor[/name]
[name]Cavanaugh[/name]
[name]Sweeney[/name]
[name]Prewitt[/name]

Fenway
[name]Atticus[/name]
[name]Corliss[/name]
[name]Thisbe[/name]
[name]Navarre[/name]
[name]Salinger[/name]

btw- I love the name Stratton. I am putting it on my list!

My son’s name is Laikon, pronounced the same as [name]Laken[/name]. It’s a very distinctive name and I love it. I’ve never met another little boy in my area named [name]Laken[/name] or any variation of it. I do know of a woman named Laekyn, but she’s my age. Since you like [name]Laken[/name], have you considered [name]Lachlan[/name]/[name]Lochlan[/name]/[name]Locklyn[/name]? It’s similar and ends in an ‘n’.

What opinions are out there for the name [name]Maverick[/name]? My hubby and I both love the nn [name]Mack[/name] but, quickly gave up when we couldn’t find a name to incorporate the nn into something we could agree upon. My hubby likes this name (still LOVES [name]Oscar[/name] but, [name]Maverick[/name] is something he can roll with HUGE YAY on getting him off [name]Oscar[/name]).

Its unique, has two syllables, does not share any of our 1st

Not even lying, [name]Maverick[/name] was my first thought for you guys!

I came up with these on here: https://nameberry.com/nametalk/threads/94589-A-case-of-bndd-can-the-hospital-just-charge-it-to-our-bill-and-name-this-little-man. I think you must have double posted somehow.

My ideas:
[name]Nathan[/name]
[name]Ethan[/name]
[name]Hudson[/name]
[name]Carson[/name]
[name]Tobin[/name]
[name]Lorn[/name]
[name]Colton[/name]
[name]Eamon[/name]
[name]Aaron[/name]
[name]Owen[/name]
[name]Mason[/name]
[name]Finn[/name]
[name]Flynn[/name]

I saw the name [name]Gulliver[/name] the other day & thought of you since you had mentioned you liked the name [name]Sullivan[/name] (but was already ‘taken’).
To me, the names seem quite similar to one another, and [name]Gulliver[/name] is definitely gender-specific. I don’t think anyone else has suggested it yet, and although it does not end with an ‘n’, I thought it might be of interest to you if you had not considered the name yet.
Best,
L.D.

Also, [name]Soren[/name]. (pronounced ‘Seeyor-ehn’–like the philosopher [name]Soren[/name] Kierkegaard).

[name]Ashton[/name], [name]Gavin[/name], [name]Callen[/name], [name]Cayson[/name], [name]Ian[/name], [name]Emerson[/name], [name]Anderson[/name], [name]Easton[/name], [name]Dalton[/name], [name]Darien[/name], [name]Owen[/name]

[name]Colton[/name]
[name]Dalton[/name]
[name]Trenton[/name]
[name]Owen[/name]
[name]Winston[/name]

What about [name]Holden[/name]?

  • It ends in “n.”
  • It does not start with J, K, V, R, or B.
  • It is two syllables.
  • It is relatively rare (It was number 316 on the Social Security charts for 2010.), but it is fairly easy to spell and pronounce. It is also a strong, clearly masculine name.

Additional facts…

  • You appear to really like surnames as first names. [name]Holden[/name] is one of those as well.
  • There are currently only 9 adults in the United States with the name [name]Holden[/name] [name]Smith[/name]. Although this number will certainly go up because [name]Holden[/name] was not even in the top 1000 names in the past, there should not be too many people with that name.

  • [name]Holden[/name] Caulfield is a pretty neat character, and The Catcher in the [name]Rye[/name] is a classic.

[name]Hope[/name] this helps! Good luck finding the perfect name!

I think [name]Maverick[/name] is a brilliant name and totally wearable, the nn [name]Mack[/name] is great and if he wanted to go ‘mainstream’ when he’s older he could always introduce himself as [name]Rick[/name].

BTW I don’t think anyone would ever just call him [name]Rick[/name] as nn as [name]Mack[/name] is much more obvious just i feel it’s good to have an option for a ‘normal’ name.
