A Classic Name for Baby Boy Coming in February

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Berries!

I’m having a boy in [name_f]February[/name_f] and really need your help. I think boys’ names are so hard. We have a [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], and our last name is Marks. We are looking for a name that goes well with ours, [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], and is timeless.

First question: Our last name is Marks. Is [name_u]James[/name_u] Marks awful? I think it’s a little choppy and don’t like both names ending in s, but it’s a family name and we both love it. A middle name breaks it up, but he won’t be using it in real life much.

Second question: thoughts on [name_m]John[/name_m]? It’s my dad’s name, and we could honor both grandfathers by naming him [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Alan[/name_m]. But I just don’t know how excited I am about it unless it was a double, and my husband isn’t into double names for boys.

Third: Is [name_m]Henry[/name_m] just so overused? I love it, but it feels like everyone is naming their son [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. Unexciting because it’s overdone?

Finally: [name_u]Everett[/name_u]: too out of the box? It’s a family name, and it sounds great with Marks, but I don’t want to mess up our family of timeless English names if it doesn’t fit.

Thank you!!

I think [name_u]James[/name_u] M@rks sounds fine. I prefer [name_u]James[/name_u] to [name_m]John[/name_m] but that’s just me. I think [name_u]James[/name_u] would be my favorite. I really like [name_m]Henry[/name_m] for you too. It’s still a great name even with popularity.
Other names to consider:
[name_m]Charles[/name_m]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_m]Edward[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m]
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m]* love this one!

[name_u]James[/name_u] Marks: I think its usable - I don’t think it sounds too choppy with your surname

[name_m]John[/name_m]: [name_m]John[/name_m] is okay but I much prefer [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m]? It’s timeless but would also give him his own individual name while also honouring grandparents.

Is [name_m]Henry[/name_m] just so overused? I’ve met a lot more [name_u]James[/name_u]'s than Henrys personally, so to me it isn’t too over done. It’s one I really like.

Is [name_u]Everett[/name_u] too out of the box? [name_u]Everett[/name_u] is one of my faves and while I do feel it has a different style, I think paired with a very classic middle (like [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Henry[/name_m] or [name_m]John[/name_m]) it would fit into your family, especially since it’s a family name. It does have a sort of ‘English-gentleman’ feel to it, something out of classic literature, if you get what I mean.

[name_u]Everett[/name_u] is classic. I vote [name_u]Everett[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m]. bonus if it honors two family members.

[name_u]James[/name_u] is a classic too- im just tired of it right now- but you really cant go wrong with it.

good luck!

They all fine names. Have you considered [name_m]Jerome[/name_m] Marks?

[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] Marks sounds nice

[name_u]James[/name_u] Marks - It’s not awful, but I find it difficult to say. I like [name_m]John[/name_m] Marks more, it has a cleaner sound. That said, I’m also not a fan of double names, and since you’re not crazy about [name_m]John[/name_m] you shouldn’t use it.
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] Marks - I hate to be a downer, but I do find it quite overused. My younger brother watches a lot of children’s television and I can name at least 4 TV shows with main characters named [name_m]Henry[/name_m].
[name_u]Everett[/name_u] Marks - [name_u]Love[/name_u] this one! [name_u]Everett[/name_u] feels classic, traditional and handsome to me, a perfect fit for your sibset.
Some quick suggestions: [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_m]Alfred[/name_m], [name_m]Albert[/name_m], [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_m]Bennett[/name_m], [name_m]Benedict[/name_m], [name_m]Clark[/name_m], [name_m]Conrad[/name_m], [name_m]Desmond[/name_m], [name_u]Elliot[/name_u], [name_m]Edgar[/name_m]/[name_m]Edmund[/name_m]/[name_m]Edward[/name_m]/[name_m]Edwin[/name_m], [name_m]Ernest[/name_m], [name_m]Ford[/name_m], [name_m]Frederick[/name_m], [name_u]Francis[/name_u], [name_m]Garrett[/name_m], [name_m]George[/name_m], [name_m]Hugh[/name_m], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_m]Harry[/name_m], [name_m]Kenneth[/name_m], [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u], [name_m]Leon[/name_m], [name_m]Louis[/name_m], [name_m]Lewis[/name_m], [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m], [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m], [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m], [name_m]Phillip[/name_m], [name_m]Ralph[/name_m], [name_m]Rupert[/name_m], [name_u]Stanley[/name_u], [name_m]Tobias[/name_m]

I love the name [name_m]John[/name_m]! I like [name_u]James[/name_u] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] too, but I hear those names all the time. I never hear [name_m]John[/name_m] on a young child.

I think [name_m]George[/name_m] or [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] would work . Maybe [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]. [name_m]Trevor[/name_m] isn’t solidly classic but it sturdy. [name_m]Simon[/name_m] is reasonably classic

I prefer [name_m]Henry[/name_m] but yes this name is used A LOT.
