What about the name [name]Mills[/name] [name]Nolan[/name] Gilliam (pronounced “[name]Gill[/name]-um”). [name]Mills[/name] is a family name and we would love to use it as a first name- but it is too weird? Does it flow okay with my last name?
I think it might rhyme too much ([name]Mills[/name] Gilliam is what most people will call him). Also, he’s going to get “[name]Miles[/name]?” a lot.
I think [name]Mills[/name] Gilliam is a lot of L’s and I’s… I don’t dislike [name]Mills[/name] but I agree with econo that he will probably get [name]MILES[/name] a lot…
That said… maybe [name]Mills[/name] as a middle name…
I don’t think [name]Mills[/name] is too weird, but it would for me be unusable with your last name. My last name also contains an -ill- sound. I wouldn’t use a fn that rhymed, but it gets trickier when it’s a family name with meaning to you and not just one you happen to like.
I would do [name]Miller[/name] NN [name]Mills[/name].
With that said, I’ve really only heard [name]Mills[/name] as a NN to [name]Camilla[/name] (and I don’t suggest you call your son this)
[name]Miller[/name] Gilliam is cool.
I think [name]Mills[/name] Gilliam is fine. [name]Mills[/name] doesn’t strike me as any stranger than [name]Lars[/name] or [name]Brooks[/name].
It’s a little too rhymey for my taste, but [name]Mills[/name] isn’t too weird! I would personally do [name]Miller[/name], nn [name]Mills[/name] though!
[name]Milo[/name] [name]Nolan[/name] could be nice. I agree with others that [name]Mills[/name] isn’t optimal because of its rhymeyness, but I don’t think it’s unacceptable or silly either.
I like it!!!
I like when people pull from their own heritage rather than whatever today’s trends are.
[name]Mills[/name] Gilliam (gil-um) sounds very strange to me, like too much swallowing.
I’d stay away from first names with L’s in them.
It’s hard to say the first time, but people generally go by their first names after meeting so after the initial tongue-twister, it’s not so bad. Also, I love it when people name their children actual surnames from family. That’d outweigh the repetition for me.
I agree with most the posters. Anytime there is a reason for a name I tend to like the name more. If [name]Mills[/name] is a family name and you like it, I would go for it.
I think [name]Nolan[/name] [name]Mills[/name] flows a bit better but I don’t think [name]Mills[/name] [name]Gill[/name]-um is too much of a tongue twister.
He probably will get [name]Miles[/name] quite a bit.
I like it. I actually think [name]Mills[/name] Gilliam is pleasing to say and hear.
I really like [name]Mills[/name] as a first name! It is very unique and fresh. Are you using [name]Nolan[/name] as a mn for a specific reason? Maybe if you use a mn without an “L” the flow would seem a bit better. [name]Mills[/name] [name]Rowan[/name] Gilliam, [name]Mills[/name] [name]Conrad[/name] Gilliam, [name]Mills[/name] [name]Viggo[/name] Gilliam…
I tried saying this out loud a few times. I agree with the others; it’s not terrible (my uncle is a [name]Bill[/name] [name]Williams[/name] so I’m used to hearing the repeated sound) however, the shortness of the two words does make the sets of double l’s sound a bit odd together. I feel like it needs something to break it up.
[name]Miller[/name] Gilliam is slightly easier to say though I do like [name]Milo[/name] and [name]Miles[/name] too.
