A few news ones...are they usable?

[name]Rance[/name] [name]Emerson[/name] - mn is debatable…any ideas?
[name]Quaid[/name] [name]Callan[/name]
[name]Ptolemy[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name] the sound…maybe Tolemy is more usable? What would be a good mn? [name]Love[/name] nn Tolly
[name]Tolliver[/name] - again…[name]LOVE[/name] nn Tolly. What middle?

Honestly, I can’t see [name]Rance[/name] and [name]Ptolemy[/name] being used, but maybe that’s just me. [name]Rance[/name] sounds like rancid. It’s just not a nice sound to my ear. [name]Rance[/name] [name]Emerson[/name] if a fine combo if you really love [name]Rance[/name] as a first.

I knew a boy named [name]Quaid[/name]. He was in 6th grade when I worked at his school. It fit him and seems useable to me. I don’t like it with [name]Callan[/name] the “Qu” and “k” sound of [name]Callan[/name] are too much, in my opinion. [name]Quaid[/name] [name]Emerson[/name] works!

[name]Tolliver[/name] is useable though it just seems like a last name. But with [name]Oliver[/name]/Ollies out there, it doesn’t seem far-fetched to me.

[name]Tolliver[/name] [name]Quaid[/name] is actually nice.

I like [name]Ptolemy[/name] but spelling it Tolemy is the worst of both worlds to me, the “weird” uncommon and vaguely pretentious sound with the wrong, kreatived up spelling. I think I’d move it to a middle name if I were worried about the spelling. It’s nice though, in itself, if a bit heavy. I like it, with some reservations.

I like [name]Quade[/name]/[name]Quaid[/name], very usable. Isn’t great with a hard C or K middle though [name]IMO[/name].

[name]Tolliver[/name] is fine as surnames go, I neither find it terrible nor like it. Well, I like it more than [name]Oliver[/name], actually.

[name]Rance[/name] [name]Emerson[/name] sounds vaguely soap-opera-esque to me, but it’s not gruesome.

For Tolly, I know some Naphtalis who go by [name]Tali[/name] said pretty much like Tolly. [name]Naphtali[/name] is maybe a little easier than [name]Ptolemy[/name], and Biblical. I mean it’s still “weird” but it is pronounced nahf-[name]TAHL[/name]-ee which isn’t that hard to get from how it’s spelt.

My favourite form aside from [name]Naphtali[/name] to get Tolly is probably [name]Tolek[/name]. It’s used in some Eastern European languages as a form of either [name]Theodore[/name], or [name]Anthony[/name]. Some Toleks go by [name]Tony[/name] but it seems Tolly would, if anything, be easier.

I like Quaid as either a first or as a middle, it has that punchy one-syllable middle effect.

[name]Quaid[/name] is an awesome name.
[name]Callan[/name] is cool- but not with [name]Quaid[/name] as they both have a ‘k’ sound.
The others are too out there for me.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! I really like all the points you made @stripedsocks. And thanks for the new suggestions! I like most of them and you’ve given me some more names to add to my list

[name]Rance[/name] [name]Emerson[/name] - I agree that [name]Rance[/name] sounds too much like rancid. [name]Emerson[/name] is nice though. [name]Hanson[/name]? Jance?
Also, I’m not sure about your reason for liking [name]Emerson[/name], but [name]Byron[/name] is another fantastic literary name.
[name]Quaid[/name] [name]Callan[/name] - I don’t hate this but I don’t like it either. What about [name]Gage[/name]? [name]Hale[/name]? [name]Hadrian[/name]? Vaden?
[name]Ptolemy[/name]/Tolemy - I think Tolemy is okay actually, I like Tolly as well, but I like [name]Tolliver[/name] a lot better
[name]Tolliver[/name] - I actually really like this one, [name]Oliver[/name] is a great name and [name]Tolliver[/name] is familiar. I think I’ll add this to my list I like it so much!
What about [name]Aristotle[/name]? You could use Tolly or [name]Ari[/name].

[name]Ptolemy[/name] might work, but you might have pronunciation issues too. [name]Tolliver[/name] would probably work due to its similarity to [name]Oliver[/name]. Not a fan of any though.

[name]Rance[/name] [name]Emerson[/name] - I agree that [name]Rance[/name] sounds like Rancid. If you love it, it could work as a middle name! I like [name]Emerson[/name] a lot. Other suggestions: [name]Rain[/name], [name]Lance[/name], [name]Chase[/name], [name]Randall[/name]; [name]Edison[/name], [name]Ellison[/name], [name]Edwin[/name]
[name]Quaid[/name] [name]Callan[/name] - I like [name]Callan[/name] [name]Quaid[/name] better. Also: [name]Callum[/name] [name]Quinn[/name]?
[name]Ptolemy[/name] - I like [name]Ptolemy[/name] as a middle or Tolemy as a first!
[name]Tolliver[/name] - cute. So much like [name]Oliver[/name], though. But you could make it work.
