A Girl After Four Boys

I thought I was done having kiddos, but this little girl snuck up on me and I’m struggling with picking the “perfect name” for my only girl after a pile of boys.

My boys are:

Everyone has two middle names and they all have “lee” in their names somewhere, both of which are family traditions that I intend to use this time too. Middle names are also names honoring in some way, shape or form.

When I was pregnant with my boys, our girl names were always Clementine, Marigold and Ophelia, but none of those really feel fitting this time around. Ophelia came close, but I have a friend that named her daughter Ophelia almost three years ago and it’s just too close.

I’ve really liked Fia (or the original “Fiadh”, but her dad hates that spelling), but it almost doesn’t seem like… enough for some reason. Fia is still close to the top though, I love its meaning.

Other names that have crossed my mind are:

Maeve (getting too popular?)

Rowan (too popular for boys)

Names I’d like to honor are Goldie (Marigold, Aurelia, etc.), Marylee (Rosemary, etc.) and Everly

I love the idea of “dark cottagecore” names, like… earthy and maybe a little “witchy” without being Raven, Luna or Lilith :sweat_smile: All of my boys have names with peaceful, still meanings and I love the exact opposite vibe for my girl.

I would love to see what you guys suggest as far as first names only, as well as combos that fit our family and my goal aesthetic!

first of all, I love your boys’ names! all of them are somewhere on my list and they go so perfectly together! a lot of your girl considerations are also favorites of mine (including [name_m]Rowan[/name_m], my top girl name)

my first thought for witchy, dark cottagecore, [name_f]Fia[/name_f] but maybe a little more, was [name_f]Freyja[/name_f]! similar in sound to [name_f]Fia[/name_f] but feels more complete, and for a bonus dark/opposite of peaceful meaning, [name_m]Friday[/name_m] the 13th is associated with the goddess [name_f]Freya[/name_f] in Norse mythology.

I like a lot of gender neutral names but I too had a girl after boys so I picked a girl name that wasn’t girly. I think [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] goes really well with your boys names. I’d do [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Lindy[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]. [name_f]Thora[/name_f] is really cool as well.

As much as I love Freyja/Freya, I feel like it’s one of the good names that have gone to the dogs :sob: I know so many pets named [name_f]Freya[/name_f] these days.

I don’t really specifically care for gender neutral names and I definitely want her name to be very feminine, obviously feminine. I want it to stand out on a piece of paper when it’s written down with her brothers.

[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] has always been her dad’s favorite, but it still doesn’t hit home for me. I’ve always loved it though, so it’s sort of floated into my middle name category.

If you do [name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Everly[/name_f] [name_f]Eldora[/name_f], then you would honor [name_f]Everly[/name_f], [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] (with Eldora), and her initials would be [name_m]Lee[/name_m] (which all the boys have).

Or if you don’t like [name_f]Panda[/name_f], how about [name_f]Swan[/name_f]?

Oh I also had Fia/Fiadh on my heart for my first daughter but ultimately didn’t use it for the same reasons you listed. We went with Flora instead. However with your boys and naming style I think it could really work. You already have a P@x for example, 3 letters and zippy. Something like…

Fia Leonora Maeve

Fia Jolie Marigold

Or in the middle somewhere

Matilda Everly Fia

Everly Fia Odette

I love Aurelia for you too on the first or middle. Suitably grand and bright! Ooh or what about Ottilie? Or Cordelia for another Shakespearean name with a lovely meaning. Perhaps Odessa or Isadora for that darker flair.

[name_f]Goldie[/name_f] and [name_f]Everly[/name_f] are honoring the same person, so I wouldn’t need to do that, but thank you so much! I also don’t want the initials “LEE,” we all actually have “lee” in our names somewhere, oddly enough, even most of our spouses completely on accident :laughing:

As much as I love those, they don’t really fit what I’m needing middle name-wise and they were on my list, but weren’t picked for certain reasons. [name_f]Odette[/name_f] is too close to Pax’s middle name (Leodis) and [name_f]Thalia[/name_f] has the repeated T, which I’m also trying to avoid so each kiddo has their own letter! Thank you so much though!
