A Golden middle name

We are considering a golden middle name for our daughter. It would honor DH’s father whose middle name was [name_u]Golden[/name_u] and later changed to [name_m]Gordon[/name_m]. Of course [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] won’t work here. We are considering [name_u]Golden[/name_u], [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], and just plain [name_m]Gold[/name_m]. Also just considering a G name like [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]. First name will probably be [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]. What do you think?

I notice you have [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] in your signature–that was my first thought reading the title of the post since the meaning is “golden.” There’s also the [name_m]French[/name_m] version [name_f]Aurelie[/name_f] if you don’t want repeat “a” endings with [name_f]Ramona[/name_f].

[name_u]Golden[/name_u] itself wouldn’t generally be my style, but with the family history behind it, and in the middle spot (with the fabulous first name [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]) I actually really like it! [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] would be a more mainstream choice that still nods to the [name_u]Golden[/name_u] namesake, and I think [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is probably the closest in terms of style with [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] (I love this name, too!). I don’t care for [name_m]Gold[/name_m], personally–both in terms of the sound and also because I would either stick with the original “[name_u]Golden[/name_u],” or use a more conventional name inspired by it.

My first thought was [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] too.

I love [name_u]Golden[/name_u] as a middle! I think it sounds good with [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]

I do love [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], but I think it’s a bit much with [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]. it’s also a subtle reference that only we (and berries) might get. I’m leaning towards going bold with the reference and using The original name.

I think [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_m]Gold[/name_m] is dazzling! I like how the names don’t match too much in style, a bit interest over two flowery names together in my opinion.

Other options:
[name_f]Oralie[/name_f]/ [name_f]Orelia[/name_f] - supposedly french and golden

What about [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_f]Auriel[/name_f]?? That way you don’t have the double -a ending but it still maintains its meaning. Otherwise, [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is really nice. Maybe [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_f]Goldie[/name_f]? [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_f]Golde[/name_f]?

[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_u]Golden[/name_u] is soooo beautiful! The imagery it evokes is fabulous and she will treasure its family heritage.

[name_u]Golden[/name_u] has the family meaning and sounds great!

[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_u]Golden[/name_u] or [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_f]Goldie[/name_f]
