Alev is a primarily gender neutral name of Turkish origin, from the internet I found the meaning to be - ‘flame’ (which is very appealing to me).
I tend to see this name as being highly masculine but then again, I’m an American. So given that in its native Turkey the name is given to both girls and boys it brought the question to me: would a girl carry this name well?
Would anyone on nameberry name their daughter Alev or only a son? Why or why not?
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you fancy the name?
What middles would you pair with it? I personally have taken a liking to Alev [name_m]Lazaro[/name_m].
Ooh, I really like Alev and the meaning is very appealing

When I first saw it, I assumed it was a boy name, but I think it works on a girl too. I’m neutral on Alev, but I really like Alev [name_m]Lazaro[/name_m].
