A little brother for Jed and Zali

Boys names, so gorgeous but so tricky!

We have a long Dutch surname that is difficult to match. I love my two older children’s names because they are short and whilst they are unusual (in [name_u]Sydney[/name_u]!) they aren’t strange.

I would love the name [name_m]Jos[/name_m] for our second son, another short punchy name. My husband likes it but thinks it is too similar to our elder son’s name… [name_m]Jed[/name_m]. I kind of agree. Thoughts?? [name_m]Jed[/name_m] and [name_m]Jos[/name_m]?

Would love to hear other suggestions… We are also considering [name_u]Remy[/name_u] and [name_u]Noah[/name_u].

I think [name_u]Remy[/name_u] is a great fit (as is [name_m]Rem[/name_m]). [name_u]Noah[/name_u]'s great, but it is very popular - it’s #4 nationally (in 2017) and in NSW (2016 - the 2017 data isn’t available yet). [name_m]Jos[/name_m] is quite similar to [name_m]Jed[/name_m], but I don’t think that’s the end of the world. Still, I’d keep looking for another name that’s not quite so similar. If you don’t find one that you and your husband love more than [name_m]Jos[/name_m], then go for it.

My first thought, sound-wise, was [name_u]Kai[/name_u]. I think that’s probably too popular for you though, right?
Here are some more punchy, easy to spell options that are not in the national top 100 or the NSW top 100:

[name_u]Ari[/name_u], [name_u]Avi[/name_u] (Not sure if these are too close to Zali in sound?)
[name_m]Otto[/name_m] , [name_m]Viggo[/name_m], [name_u]Rio[/name_u], [name_u]Cato[/name_u], [name_m]Ivo[/name_m], [name_m]Tygo[/name_m]/[name_m]Tycho[/name_m], [name_m]Ingo[/name_m]
[name_m]Tovi[/name_m]
[name_m]Lem[/name_m]
[name_u]Kit[/name_u]
[name_m]Otis[/name_m]
[name_m]Leif[/name_m]
[name_u]Rafe[/name_u], [name_m]Rafi[/name_m]
[name_m]Lonan[/name_m]
[name_m]Rufus[/name_m]
[name_m]Idris[/name_m]
[name_m]Torin[/name_m], [name_u]Corin[/name_u], Thorin, Corbin
Declan
[name_u]Dash[/name_u], [name_m]Nash[/name_m]

[name_u]Nico[/name_u], [name_u]Tai[/name_u], [name_m]Caio[/name_m] - I almost didn’t include these, because [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m], [name_u]Tyler[/name_u] and [name_u]Kai[/name_u] are in the top 100, but I thought I’d tack them on the end here because they do seem to fit.

Good luck, and congratulations!

I absolutely love @onomastodon’s suggestion of [name_u]Kai[/name_u]. And I also like [name_u]Remy[/name_u] with your other children’s names. I quite like [name_m]Jos[/name_m] too, but am not sure how to pronounce it. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you pronounce it with a “y” sound at the beginning? Or like [name_u]Joss[/name_u]? Or [name_m]Jose[/name_m]?? I think it is less familiar than [name_m]Jed[/name_m] and Zali and you may get some mispronunciations (from people like me  ). I don’t think it’s too similar to [name_m]Jed[/name_m].

I like Joss. I think jed, joss, and zali go well together.

I love the suggestion Kai too

I know a little boy named Foss, which is pretty cool. If [name_m]Jos[/name_m] is too similar to [name_m]Jed[/name_m], maybe Foss would be an alternative?
