A little list of girls' combos; tell me what you think!

I’d love opinions on the following names… (your favourites, opinions, imagery, ratings, I don’t mind).

[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Una[/name_f] ‘’[name_u]Romy[/name_u]‘’
[name_f]Fenella[/name_f] [name_f]Briar[/name_f] ‘’[name_f]Nell[/name_f]‘’
[name_f]Maud[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Sibyl[/name_f] [name_f]Constance[/name_f]
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Aveline[/name_f]
[name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Eilidh[/name_f]
[name_f]Alba[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]

None of these are totally new, they’re predominantly long standing favourites in fact.

My issue is - I get the feeling from this list that they’re all just variants of each other. Like I’m following a formula. Perhaps I’ve found my formula! It makes them all a bit lifeless, don’t you think?

[name_m]How[/name_m] would you classify the style / ‘‘formula’’ if you think there is one?
Thank you ever so much! I’ve been away from NB recently because my life has been full with other things, but names make me so happy I can’t help myself

[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Una[/name_f] - beautiful. Honestly, though, I think [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is a gorgeous name and [name_u]Romy[/name_u] is a standalone name that I don’t really care for. If you aren’t actually going to call her [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and you don’t absolutely adore [name_u]Romy[/name_u], I’d skip it.
[name_f]Fenella[/name_f] [name_f]Briar[/name_f] - I think this is very beautiful, albeit very nature-y.
[name_f]Maud[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] - very pretty, I think [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] nicely highlights the femininity of [name_f]Maud[/name_f]
[name_f]Sibyl[/name_f] [name_f]Constance[/name_f] - very noble, but a little too rigid… still… it would grow on me.
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] - I think [name_f]Edith[/name_f] has a lot of modern personality but dowdy [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] drags it into great-grandmother territory
[name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] - very strong, I like it!
[name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Eilidh[/name_f] - I’d prefer [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] [name_f]Eilidh[/name_f], or [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Alba[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] - I think [name_f]Alba[/name_f] is too exotic to go with [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]

[name_u]LOVE[/name_u]:
[name_f]Maud[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Fenella[/name_f] [name_f]Briar[/name_f]
[name_f]Sybil[/name_f] [name_f]Constance[/name_f]

  1. [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Una[/name_f] ‘’[name_u]Romy[/name_u]‘’ - [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is beautiful and timeless, plus nn [name_u]Romy[/name_u] and mn[name_f]Una[/name_f] are fun and spunky, making it a great choice
  2. [name_f]Maud[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] - I love the simplicity of [name_f]Maud[/name_f] with the romantic nature of [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
  3. [name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] - Vintage [name_f]Edith[/name_f]'s harsher th sound makes the sweet [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] compliment it nicely
  4. [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Eilidh[/name_f] - [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] is cute and ready for a comeback! [name_f]Eilidh[/name_f] sounds nice with it
  5. [name_f]Fenella[/name_f] [name_f]Briar[/name_f] ‘’[name_f]Nell[/name_f]‘’ - [name_f]Fenella[/name_f] “[name_f]Nell[/name_f]” is a unique choice with a nice sound and I really like [name_f]Briar[/name_f]!

DISLIKE
[name_f]Sibyl[/name_f] [name_f]Constance[/name_f] - Both names feel kind of dates to me
[name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] - I keep hearing “assault” when seeing [name_f]Iseult[/name_f] and I never really liked [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Alba[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] - I like [name_f]Alma[/name_f] but [name_f]Alba[/name_f] just makes me think of [name_m]Albus[/name_m] Dumbledore. I also find [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] overused

I don’t think there’s anything bad at all with all your names being of a similar style. If that makes creating combos boring to you then you should experiment!

[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Una[/name_f] - I do quite like [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], not sure if I’d use [name_u]Romy[/name_u] as a nickname though. Not a fan of [name_f]Una[/name_f]. Good combo overall, though. 7/10

[name_f]Fenella[/name_f] [name_f]Briar[/name_f] - [name_f]Fenella[/name_f] honestly reminds me of fennel seeds, and I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Briar[/name_f]. Nice combo though, good flow. 6/10

[name_f]Maud[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] - I like this more than I thought I would. 7/10

[name_f]Sybil[/name_f] [name_f]Constance[/name_f] - I don’t much care for either of these names, they feel a bit heavy and grumpy to me. 3/10

[name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] - I do like this. I’m curious, how do you pronounce [name_f]Aveline[/name_f]? 8/10

[name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] - I will agree with PP, [name_f]Iseult[/name_f] looks/sounds a bit like assault to me. I do like [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] though. 7/10

[name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Eilidh[/name_f] - I don’t really like either of these, they make an okay combo. 6/10

[name_f]Alba[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] - I like [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], not a big fan of [name_f]Alba[/name_f]. 6/10

[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Una[/name_f] “[name_u]Romy[/name_u]” - I really like this. It feels so classic and oldy worldy but [name_u]Romy[/name_u] seems fresh and modern.

[name_f]Fenella[/name_f] [name_f]Briar[/name_f] ‘’[name_f]Nell[/name_f]’’ - I like [name_f]Fenella[/name_f], it’s sweet, unique but familiar and I love the nickname [name_f]Nell[/name_f]. I can’t quite decide whether I like [name_f]Briar[/name_f] with it though. On one hand it sounds rhymey, on the other, the [name_f]Bri[/name_f] sound is really working in my head next to [name_f]Fenella[/name_f]! I think I’m leaning more towards liking it the more I say it!

[name_f]Maud[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] - I like this. I love the frilly [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] next to the shorter [name_f]Maud[/name_f]

[name_f]Sibyl[/name_f] [name_f]Constance[/name_f] - I like the names separately, but together, I’m thinking on sibilance and consonants…sorry

[name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] - I really like this. [name_f]Edith[/name_f] is lovely -cute but mature and [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] has a fun sound.

[name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] - I love [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] - it’s strong and beautiful. I’m not sure on [name_f]Iseult[/name_f]. It’s one of those i have mixed feelings on. I like the sound but it also feels abrupt? The combo flows well though

[name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Eilidh[/name_f] - Pretty! I [name_u]Love[/name_u] how [name_f]Eilidh[/name_f] looks and sounds and [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] is sweet!

[name_f]Alba[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] - Beautiful! [name_f]Alba[/name_f] is so pretty and the flow with [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] is lovely

[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Una[/name_f] ‘’[name_u]Romy[/name_u]’’: Good combo and I really love [name_f]Una[/name_f]. [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is a bit [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]'s baby, tbh.

[name_f]Fenella[/name_f] [name_f]Briar[/name_f] ‘’[name_f]Nell[/name_f]": [name_f]Lovely[/name_f]. [name_f]Nell[/name_f] is adorable, [name_f]Fenella[/name_f] gorgeous and the name combo has a really nice flow. I also like [name_f]Briar[/name_f].

[name_f]Maud[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]: I personally don’t like it.

[name_f]Sibyl[/name_f] [name_f]Constance[/name_f]: This is lovely. Very vintage, English and classy. I love it. [name_f]Sibyl[/name_f] is unusual, classic and I just really like the look and sound of it.

[name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Aveline[/name_f]: Nothing wrong with this, it’s very cute.

[name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]: It’s nice but I do see why some thought of assault, tbh…

[name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Eilidh[/name_f]: Not really a fan of agnes, tbh.

[name_f]Alba[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]: [name_f]Alba[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] is cute. I really like the sound and the meaning of [name_f]Alba[/name_f].
