Continuing Life:

We figured we were done having more children, but at some point this year, [name_m]Ben[/name_m] asks for our help looking into what happened to the two other kids in foster care who lived with him before he joined our family. When we learn that the two kids still haven’t found a family, we look into adopting them as well. That fall, eight-year-old [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] and five-year-old [name_u]Harley[/name_u] [name_m]Webb[/name_m], born in [name_f]February[/name_f] and [name_u]July[/name_u] respectively, joined our family. Our oldest puts a lot of thought into gender identity after meeting [name_u]Harley[/name_u], and comes out to us as a trans boy later this year. He changes his name to [name_u]Devin[/name_u] [name_u]Kyle[/name_u] [name_u]Harper[/name_u]-[name_u]Green[/name_u]. Since [name_f]Morgana[/name_f] is still having trouble in English class, she is evaluated for a learning disability, and ends up diagnosed with dysgraphia. She is given the accommodation of a laptop to type in class, and this makes writing a lot more feasible for her. Her reading improves as well, because she is more capable of participating in English class and so gets more from it. [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] decides to learn to play the piano, and asks to sign up for lessons. [name_u]Harley[/name_u] is glad to have a family now, but they miss their friends after switching schools to come live with us. They make up an imaginary friend named Patio, a word they heard and thought sounded nice. Meanwhile, [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] has just about grown out of [name_m]Zayden[/name_m]. [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] becomes close to her twin sister [name_f]Violet[/name_f], which is adorable, and also loves looking at books and being read to.
Year Twelve
[name_f]Rosie[/name_f] still loves teaching, but she wants to try working with a different age group of people, and looks into becoming a professor of elementary education. In sixth grade, science is sort of mixed in with social studies, talking about evolution and archeology and stuff, and [name_m]Ben[/name_m] starts to fall behind in that as well. [name_f]Morgana[/name_f] makes some new friends at school, [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] [name_m]Byron[/name_m], [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] Windward and [name_m]Demetrius[/name_m] [name_m]Crow[/name_m]. We worry these three will be a bad influence, since they are known for skipping classes and getting in fights. She stops hanging out with them when they try to pressure her into using her accommodation computer to help them cheat, and she realizes they were trying to use her.
Year Thirteen
A new Pokémon game comes out, and [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] points out that it doesn’t require the kind of reflexes and dexterity that most of the things she plays do, and gets me into the series. [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] ends up starting middle school at a STEM based charter school where he’ll be able to do more computer stuff, and is much happier there. [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is interested in drawing and starts keeping a daily sketchbook. [name_u]Harley[/name_u] makes three new friends: [name_m]Hideki[/name_m], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]Garrick[/name_m] and [name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]. [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] fights with another kid at her preschool, [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]Robin[/name_u], and we are called into the school. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] discovers that she really loves playing with blocks.
Year Fourteen
We learn that [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and [name_u]Harley[/name_u] have a one-year-old brother who was born after we adopted them, and is in foster care as well. We end up adopting young [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m], who was born in [name_u]August[/name_u]. [name_u]Devin[/name_u] makes some new friends this year, [name_u]Kit[/name_u] [name_u]Stanley[/name_u], [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m], [name_m]Eric[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m], [name_f]Callie[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] and Ji-Yeong. He also figures out that he is pansexual. [name_f]Morgana[/name_f] figures out that she is a lesbian. [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] develops a close relationship with his great aunt [name_f]Eve[/name_f]. Year Fifteen
[name_f]Rosie[/name_f]’s little brother [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] (our [name_m]Griffin[/name_m]’s namesake) and his wife are expecting a child unexpectedly, and they don’t think they’re in a position to raise a kid. They ask if [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] and I will adopt the child so that they can remain a part of his life especially since he will be born without his left arm, and it’s hard for disabled babies to find adoptive families, and we agree. [name_u]Cobalt[/name_u] [name_u]Gray[/name_u] [name_u]Harper[/name_u]-[name_u]Green[/name_u] is born in [name_u]November[/name_u]. [name_m]Ben[/name_m] takes a school trip to [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_m]York[/name_m] City this year and really enjoys it. [name_u]Cobalt[/name_u] meets another little boy, [name_u]River[/name_u], at his play group, and although they’re not old enough to play together get, they start to as they grow older and become best friends.
Year Sixteen
[name_f]Rosie[/name_f]’s aunt and uncle offer to take care of the kids for a period of time so that [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] and I can have some time for ourselves. We take a trip to [name_m]Boston[/name_m]. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though [name_u]Devin[/name_u] is eighteen now, he’s still in high school for another year because of when he stayed back a grade. [name_m]Ben[/name_m] does really well with music class this year and is thrilled to finally have a school subject he feels that he is good at. [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] and [name_u]Cobalt[/name_u] grow close now that [name_u]Cobalt[/name_u] is old enough to play with.
Year Seventeen
[name_u]Devin[/name_u] graduates from high school this year, and to celebrate, we take a family road trip to several places around the area that interest him. He decides he wants to be an engineer, and enrolls at [name_m]Rutger[/name_m]’s in [name_m]New[/name_m] Brunswick in their mechanical engineering program. [name_m]Ben[/name_m] is in the school play this year, and we all go to see him perform. [name_m]Ziggy[/name_m] is diagnosed with auditory processing disorder and also learns that she needs glasses. [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] struggles with his gross motor skills in preschool, so we start taking him to the playground more often so he can get more practice in a fun way. On one of our trips there, [name_u]Cobalt[/name_u] tries to go down the slide headfirst, which ends in a trip to the ER and a cast on his extant arm, making for a difficult several weeks, poor kid.
Year Eighteen
My sixteen-year-old cousin, [name_f]Maddie[/name_f], becomes unexpectedly pregnant and arranges for the baby to be adopted, but the adoptive parents back out when the baby turns out to be twins, one of which will be born blind. She approaches us for our help, and we agree to adopt the twins. [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] and [name_m]Jason[/name_m] [name_m]Julien[/name_m] [name_u]Harper[/name_u]-[name_u]Green[/name_u] are born in [name_f]February[/name_f], and [name_m]Tommy[/name_m] is indeed blind. We befriend the parents of another kid born at the same time as them, named [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]Edwin[/name_m], and the three grow up as companions. [name_u]Devin[/name_u] gets pregnant while he’s at college, after a short relationship with a cis guy. The kid’s other father, [name_m]Brendan[/name_m], is doing a two-year degree, and so graduates this year, so he offers to raise the little girl, so that [name_u]Devin[/name_u] can finish school. [name_u]Devin[/name_u] agrees to this, but remains a part of his daughter’s life. We decide to adopt a dog, and end up falling in love with a little unknown mix we name Dawnspinner, which was [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]’s idea. [name_m]Ben[/name_m] and [name_f]Morgana[/name_f] both finish high school this year. [name_m]Ben[/name_m] enrolls in a theater arts program at the state university in the same town we live in, while [name_f]Morgana[/name_f] studies early childhood education. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] bites another kid at her daycare, named [name_u]Colby[/name_u]. [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] decides to start learning to cook, and discovers he enjoys it. We look into and end up getting an oven that opens sideways for accessibility for him. [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is diagnosed with schizophrenia. She also becomes passionate about scientific research, especially deep sea exploration. [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] decides she wants to earn some money and starts pet-sitting for some of the animals around the neighborhood. [name_u]Harley[/name_u] gets into a car accident when getting a ride home from school with their friend [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], but luckily no one is hurt. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] starts to struggle in English class when he class does a unit on analyzing poetry; she doesn’t understand why poets don’t just say things instead of implying them six different ways and making you guess. [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] isn’t doing well in his first grade class, because he has such a technical and hands-on learning style. We meet with the school and end up switching him to another classroom that’s taught in a way that will work for him better. The youngest twins receive matching stuffed dragons from their grandmother on their first birthday, and while JJ mostly forgets about his, [name_m]Flash[/name_m] grows very attached to his own, named Dazzle. JJ shows a love of art toys, such as crayons, paint and play-dough.
Year Ten
We decide to renovate out home to make more space, in order to keep spaces for our oldest three to come home to, as well as have more room for the younger ones to grow into. [name_u]Devin[/name_u] decides to move off campus, and is offered a place by [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]’s other father, [name_m]Brendan[/name_m], as well as his two roommates, [name_m]William[/name_m] and [name_u]Neil[/name_u]. He is thrilled to have the opportunity to live with his daughter, and it’s ambiguous whether he still has feelings for [name_m]Brendan[/name_m]. [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] makes a friend in her book club, a girl named [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. [name_u]Cobalt[/name_u] discovers he loves coloring (and the walls in the living room discover this as well.) He draws himself an imaginary friend and names it Jennabert. [name_m]Flash[/name_m] turns out to be allergic to shellfish.

year eleven
We adopt a new cat, [name_f]Melody[/name_f], who’s an American Shorthair. [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] develops a crush on a boy at her school named [name_m]Eric[/name_m]. We ask if she wants to invite him around or hang out with him, but that’s way too embarrassing!! In the end, the crush passes, and everybody survives. Although [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_u]Rory[/name_u] are inseparably best friends, [name_u]Rory[/name_u] seems to be becoming more interested in spending time with his cool, big brother [name_u]Jet[/name_u]. [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] bites a little boy named [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] at day care, much to your horror. Strangely, he doesn’t seem to go through a biting phase, and nor does [name_m]Connor[/name_m]. Nonetheless, you keep a very close eye on him.

year twelve
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] finally receives a major promotion, becoming head of his department. [name_u]Jet[/name_u] begins dating a girl named [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], who he met in his science class. She meets the family after a few months, and seems sweet enough. [name_u]Finn[/name_u] contracts pneumonia during the winter. It’s quite serious, and is a tough time for the family, but he manages to pull through, and comes home healthy once more. [name_u]Rory[/name_u] is particularly pleased to have his partner in crime back! [name_m]Connor[/name_m] becomes seriously ill during the summer after getting heat stroke, and is in the hospital for a number of days. [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] is diagnosed with juvenile diabetes, which runs on [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]'s side of the family.

year thirteen
We decide to try for another child, and welcome yet another boy. [name_m]Liam[/name_m] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_u]Keats[/name_u] is born on [name_u]March[/name_u] 10, three days after his due date. [name_u]Jet[/name_u] starts to struggle with music class as he gets closer to the end of high school, which makes sense with his auditory processing disorder. We decide to remove him from the class to allow him to focus on his other subjects, and notice a marked improvement. [name_u]Rory[/name_u], meanwhile, has been struggling with English since joining his new class for the year. [name_m]Connor[/name_m] has another bad run of health in the summer, and has to spend an entire week in the hospital before you can bring your little boy back home. [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] is incredibly restless during [name_m]Connor[/name_m]'s absence, and takes this out one day by drawing all over the entire bedroom wall. [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] is ready to clean it up, but I think it’s a sweet gesture, and very personal, so we decide to keep it there.

year fourteen
We take all the children to Disney World, all of them from [name_u]Jet[/name_u] to [name_m]Liam[/name_m]! Although [name_u]Jet[/name_u] is eighteen and protests he’s too old for such thing, he ends up enjoying it just as much as everybody else. After graduating high school, [name_u]Jet[/name_u] decides to follow in his Uncle [name_m]Andreas[/name_m]'s footsteps, and become a firefighter. [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] ends the school year at the top of her class in science! [name_u]Rory[/name_u] seems to be becoming a little jealous of the younger twins, and we wonder whether he feels threatened by having another set of twins in the house. [name_f]India[/name_f] develops an allergy to bees. [name_f]India[/name_f] makes a little group of friends with three other children - [name_u]Ashton[/name_u], [name_m]Eoghan[/name_m], and Hiroki. [name_m]Connor[/name_m] and [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] are easily best friends by this point, as attached at the hip as [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_u]Rory[/name_u]. Like [name_f]Indi[/name_f], [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] develops an allergy, but his is to milk. [name_m]Liam[/name_m] loves playing with puzzles, and will sit at one for ages, until he gets it solved properly.

year fifteen
We are surprised once more, as [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_u]Hilary[/name_u] [name_u]Keats[/name_u] makes her arrival into the world on [name_f]February[/name_f] 27 at the stroke of midnight. [name_u]Finn[/name_u] gets into a massive argument with [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], about something so trivial you can’t remember it after about a week. It gives you a good opportunity to sit down and talk with him about empathising with others. [name_u]Rory[/name_u] discovers he needs glasses! He has a great time picking out the best ones, and his teachers are glad they now have a physical way to tell the twins apart! [name_f]India[/name_f] does exceptionally well in maths class this year, which may have something to do with having [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] for a big sister and thus tutor. [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] is also doing well with his pre-maths skills at preschool, and his educators predict he will excel at school. [name_m]Liam[/name_m] becomes very attached to a [name_m]Pluto[/name_m] toy [name_u]Jet[/name_u] bought for him at Disney World.

year sixteen
With our growing family, we decide to purchase a larger house with much more space, especially as [name_u]Jet[/name_u] is heading to college, and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is making her way through high school. [name_m]Connor[/name_m] is proving to be quite musically gifted, and his music teacher considers him to be on par with some of the older students in the school. [name_m]Liam[/name_m]'s gross motor skills are great, and he is very physically capable in every way.

year seventeen
[name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_u]Rory[/name_u] are involved in a minor car crash. Neither of them are seriously injured, but it’s still a massive shock for all of us, and the boys become incredibly hesitant about getting into any cars. [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] becomes quite passionate about the environment, and starts to become more active in advocating for environmental issues. [name_u]Rory[/name_u] has his first kiss! He doesn’t say anything about it, but [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_u]Finn[/name_u] spill the beans on his behalf. He’s embarrassed, but he’s surprisingly good-natured about it. [name_m]Connor[/name_m] learns he, like [name_u]Rory[/name_u], needs glasses. He wants the same glasses as his older brother, but they don’t make his prescription, so he settles for the next best. [name_m]Liam[/name_m] starts having awful night terrors, sometimes unable to wake himself from them. [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] takes to spending the night in his room when this happens, or you bring him back to your bed, as it’s hard on all of you to try and leave him alone in his room again. [name_u]Eden[/name_u] has to go to hospital to get checked out after she accidentally swallows a counting bead. Everything is fine, and [name_f]Edie[/name_f] actually thinks it’s more fun than scary. Of course.

year eighteen
We actually make the news after welcoming our third set of identical twins! This time, it’s girls, and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Milla[/name_f] [name_u]Keats[/name_u] and [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] [name_u]Keats[/name_u] make their unexpected but well-received arrival on [name_u]June[/name_u] 1. The day they’re born there is a meteor shower, and there’s something undeniably magical about the whole situation. [name_u]Jet[/name_u] and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] have been dating for six years, and he decides it’s the right time to pop the question! [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] says yes, and the two are engaged. year nineteen
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] and I are having a few marital issues, due to the stresses both at home and at work. It feels as though we’re on the verge of breaking up, but we manage to work things out between us before it comes to that, and before the younger ones really cotton on. [name_u]Rory[/name_u] decides to switch to contact lenses, much to his teachers’ chagrin. [name_f]India[/name_f] takes matters into her own hands one day, and cuts her own hair! You are shocked and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is horrified, but it’s not the end of the world, and it’s salvageable. You ask her to tell you if she’s really feeling the need to a change next time! [name_m]Connor[/name_m] is able to skip ahead a grade. While he’s sad he and [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] aren’t in the same class anymore, it’s much better suited to his academic needs. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] starts having terrible separation anxiety when she goes anywhere away from you, and it’s very difficult on both of you.

year twenty
There’s no other way to celebrate twenty years together than having one more baby. [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_u]Everett[/name_u] [name_u]Keats[/name_u] is born on [name_f]October[/name_f] 31, two weeks before he’s due to arrive. [name_u]Jet[/name_u] and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] have a big year - only two months after their marriage, they welcome their first child, making us grandparents!
