[name_f]Lotus[/name_f] is my latest crush and with my top three combos ([name_f]Lotus[/name_f] [name_f]Vienna[/name_f], [name_f]Lotus[/name_f] [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] and [name_f]Lotus[/name_f] [name_f]Alessia[/name_f]). I have considered the possible nn’s of [name_u]Tully[/name_u], [name_f]Lola[/name_f] and [name_f]Lottie[/name_f], but adore the strength in the full name [name_f]Lotus[/name_f].
But my biggest struggle is putting her in a sibset.
I find i’m not usually drawn to nature names, yet [name_u]Sage[/name_u] has been my #1 for a long time and i’ve thrown [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] into some nice combos.
I think having a [name_u]Sage[/name_u] and [name_f]Lotus[/name_f] would glue me to the nature name path and couldn’t have [name_u]Dylan[/name_u]/[name_u]Parker[/name_u]/[name_f]Honora[/name_f]/[name_f]Jolie[/name_f] - so is it one or the other?
I find i can pair [name_f]Lotus[/name_f] with a lot of my “smaller” names which works nicely - [name_f]Lotus[/name_f] and [name_f]Indy[/name_f], [name_f]Lotus[/name_f] and [name_f]Pia[/name_f], [name_f]Lotus[/name_f] and [name_f]Vali[/name_f], [name_f]Lotus[/name_f] and [name_m]Cove[/name_m] - but even yet to stretch that to a third a struggle where to go next.
My concerns are above, and my question is:
[name_m]How[/name_m] would you sibset [name_f]Lotus[/name_f] with 3+ with avoiding creating a sibling trend of names?
[name_f]Lotus[/name_f] is definitely a tough one. I feel like it’s one of those names that sends you down a very narrow path as far as siblings go since many names would seem out of place or downright boring next to it. I don’t think you’d be stuck with nature names though!
I don’t think it would force you to stick to nature names, but I agree with pp - some names would indeed seem boring/usual next to it, so you would need names that are equally unusual and interesting, and probably a similar vibe. E.g. [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] is gorgeous, but I think of it as more Hollywood glamourous and a bit classic, especially compared to the hipster, nature vibe of [name_f]Lotus[/name_f]. That being said, you could still use them together, it isn’t the end of the world. If you loved the names equally and couldn’t bear to part with one, you could still go for it.
[name_f]Lotus[/name_f] works perfectly with [name_u]Sage[/name_u] and [name_m]Cove[/name_m], and great with [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], Isby, [name_f]Pia[/name_f] and [name_u]Remi[/name_u]! They probably wouldn’t all go together, so here are my favourite 2+ sibsets:
[name_f]Lotus[/name_f], [name_m]Cove[/name_m] and [name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_f]Lotus[/name_f], [name_m]Cove[/name_m], [name_u]Sage[/name_u] and Isby
[name_f]Lotus[/name_f], Isby, [name_f]Pia[/name_f] and [name_u]Remi[/name_u]
[name_f]Lotus[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and [name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_f]Lotus[/name_f], [name_u]Remi[/name_u] and [name_u]Sage[/name_u]
I feel like it depends on the strength of the nature association in each name, as well as the amount of syllables they have.
For example, [name_f]Lotus[/name_f], [name_u]Sage[/name_u] & [name_m]Cove[/name_m], are all heavily associated with nature, and are all of a similar length, so there does feel to be a theme there that you could definitely feel tied in to with further children.
Then, there’s something like [name_f]Lotus[/name_f], [name_f]Honora[/name_f], [name_u]Sage[/name_u] & [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], which while they all have a nature/word association, [name_f]Honora[/name_f] & [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] also have a nice, quirky vintage feel to them, as well as being of different length and syllable-counts – the four compliment each other nicely, without feeling ‘match-y’, so you wouldn’t be as tied in. I think this works too, because of the sibling-order…[name_f]Lotus[/name_f], [name_u]Sage[/name_u], [name_f]Honora[/name_f] & [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] look a little lopsided as a set, as the mind tends to group the first two, and then the last two separately. By splitting up the two obvious nature names with a less obvious one, it works to blend things more.
I like it!
I dont think it’s too limiting for sibling options. If I were to sibset from your signature I would use; [name_f]Lotus[/name_f], Isby, [name_f]Pia[/name_f] and [name_m]Cove[/name_m]
[name_f]Lotus[/name_f], [name_f]Honora[/name_f], [name_u]Sage[/name_u] and [name_f]Indy[/name_f]
[name_f]Lotus[/name_f], [name_f]Jolie[/name_f], [name_u]Sage[/name_u] and [name_u]Remi[/name_u]
[name_f]Lotus[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Pia[/name_f] and [name_f]Honora[/name_f]
[name_f]Lotus[/name_f], [name_f]Vali[/name_f], [name_u]Parker[/name_u] and [name_u]Sage[/name_u]
I think it’s going to be about balance- a longer or more girly name, plus a few shorter ones. One other nature name and the others not nature related. Some international feeling names paired with wordy ones. Keep the sibsets distinctive but a little eclectic so none of them have to match perfectly.
Some other sibsets with [name_f]Lotus[/name_f]:
[name_f]Lotus[/name_f], [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f], [name_f]Karma[/name_f] and [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_f]Lotus[/name_f], [name_u]Mica[/name_u], [name_f]Sapphire[/name_f] and [name_f]Nova[/name_f]
[name_f]Lotus[/name_f], [name_u]Romy[/name_u], [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] and [name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_f]Lotus[/name_f], [name_f]Jovie[/name_f], [name_u]Piper[/name_u] and [name_f]Tessa[/name_f]/[name_f]Calla[/name_f]
[name_f]Lotus[/name_f], [name_f]Elara[/name_f], [name_f]Adelie[/name_f] and [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Lotus[/name_f], [name_u]Remi[/name_u], [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] and [name_u]Everest[/name_u]
I like [name_f]Lotus[/name_f] so much. It’s also indirectly a mythological name, which I think is worth considering with regard to sibling names. (In classical mythology there’s the lotus-eaters encountered in the Odyssey and the nymph Lotis (slightly different spelling) who was turned into a lotus tree to escape the pursuit of Priapus. Supposedly [name_m]Romulus[/name_m], the legendary founder of [name_m]Rome[/name_m], planted a sacred lotus tree in the city ‘which was still standing some 700 years later, in the time of Pliny the [name_m]Elder[/name_m]’. The lotus tree (or ‘lote-tree’) is mentioned in the Bible and the Quran, and the lotus is considered sacred in ancient Egyptian religion, Hinduism, and Buddhism.)
I’m not great at pairing names (siblings or first-middle combos) but I might aim for other offbeat names that have both nature and mythological/ancient/literary associations, however vague. I like the suggestions of [name_f]Ianthe[/name_f] and [name_f]Soraya[/name_f].

thanks everyone for all the feedback! it has definitely shown me [name_f]Lotus[/name_f] will not be as restricting as first thought, which is great!
i love all the sibset and name suggestions (new and old!!!). quite possibly the reason i struggled pairing so much was to the point highlighted about the other names perceived as plain/boring!!
thanks again, and feel free to keep adding/suggesting if you think of more!
