My first kiddo is on her way in [name_f]May[/name_f], and the name question has really been weighing on me lately. My husband and I have been drawn to “M” and “G” names, but we haven’t been able to pick a good combination…Latin/[name_m]Roman[/name_m] names seem to be a big theme here too, so any suggestions along those lines would be great!
Our List of Names:
[name_f]Maia[/name_f]/[name_f]Maja[/name_f]/[name_f]Maya[/name_f] (I’m drawn more to [name_f]Maia[/name_f] at this point)
Gaïa ([name_m]Just[/name_m]. so. pretty.)
[name_u]Marlow[/name_u] (My husband LOVES this name)
[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] (I’ve always felt it’s far more feminine and I hate the spelling of [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f])
[name_f]Vita[/name_f] (A great strong name, imo)
[name_f]Maia[/name_f]/[name_f]Maja[/name_f]/[name_f]Maya[/name_f] - [name_f]Maia[/name_f] is lovely! Such a sweet sound
Gaïa - I like this as well - more unusual than [name_f]Maia[/name_f] but not unfamiliar. It’s very sweet
[name_u]Marlow[/name_u] - I really like [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] - such a great sound! It feels quite different to [name_f]Maia[/name_f] and [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] though
[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] - not a fan of this (esp. on a girl)
[name_f]Gaia[/name_f] [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] would make a sweet combo. [name_f]Maia[/name_f] [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] or [name_f]Maia[/name_f] [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] maybe?
Definitely [name_f]Maia[/name_f]! If you like [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] I would recommend [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f] instead, or maybe even [name_f]Juliet[/name_f].
[name_f]Gaia[/name_f], [name_f]Vita[/name_f] and [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] are gorgeous! I’m not a fan of [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] used on a girl. I think most people would assume she was a boy as well - don’t know if that bothers you guys, but I think a young girl might find it aggravating!
I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Maia[/name_f] (it’s all right, but I don’t find it particularly striking) but spelled [name_f]Maija[/name_f] or [name_f]Maja[/name_f], I find myself liking it much more! [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] is very cute and feels modern but sweet. I think that’d be my choice for a combo with the names you are currently interested in. I’ll give you a few suggestions, hope you like some of these!
[name_f]Vita[/name_f]! I suggest this a lot but no-one ever bites, haha. I love it - I think it oozes simple elegance but is also sassy, lively, and full of character. I also adore [name_f]Gaia[/name_f].
[name_f]Gaia[/name_f] is my own favourite name at the moment, so of course it gets my vote from your list. I love the mythological & nature connections, and it just feels so strong and zesty, which I love in a name. I see you have it written as Gaïa - I do believe that unless you live in a predominately [name_m]French[/name_m]-speaking place, that dieresis is more often than not going to be ignored and the name will be ultimately written [name_f]Gaia[/name_f], so just thought I’d note that (I just mention this as you haven’t listed your [name_f]Maia[/name_f] here in its [name_m]French[/name_m] form, Maïa).
I also love [name_f]Maia[/name_f], and think it’s a lovely name indeed. [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] is also quite nice, and I think it’d make a great middle name here: [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] [name_u]Marlow[/name_u], or, I actually quite like the alliteration of [name_f]Maia[/name_f] [name_u]Marlow[/name_u].
I love [name_f]Maja[/name_f] the most (I prefer this personally, but [name_f]Maia[/name_f] is lovely!), and I think [name_f]Maja[/name_f] [name_m]Gabriel/name_m would be gorgeous. I can’t see the appeal in [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] on a girl, but I’ve met one, so you’re not the only one. I would definitely suggest [name_f]Maja[/name_f] [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f] over [name_f]Maja[/name_f] [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m], though, or even [name_f]Maja[/name_f] Galadriel/[name_f]Maya[/name_f] Galadriel/[name_f]Maia[/name_f] Galadriel? Sort of looks like [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] bit is more feminine, but I guess it’d be an odd choice if you’re not a fan of LOTR…
My favorite is definitely [name_f]Maia[/name_f]! I also like [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] but I find the [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] spelling to be the most masculine so I far prefer [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] (I know the most adorable girl with this spelling) and [name_f]Marlo[/name_f]. I know someone named [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] but she pronounces it like [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f]. I find that [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]/[name_m]Gabe[/name_m] is usually a name given to terrible father figures in tv shows and books so I can’t see the appeal on a boy let alone a girl.
From your list I’d say:
[name_f]Vita[/name_f] [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] (I like [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] better, especially for a girl)
[name_f]Gaia[/name_f] [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] (But ‘[name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f],’ to me [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] is all boy)
