So after MUCH debate hubby and I have ageed on [name]Axton[/name] for baby boy #2. We now need a middle name that suits it. Hubby is absolutely set on it being a family name, but I’m not sure any of the options work? The only ones that are compatible ([name]IMO[/name]) with [name]Axton[/name] and our last name, which is 2 syllable ending in “ER” are - [name]Bentley[/name], [name]Clark[/name], [name]Cole[/name], [name]Donald[/name], [name]Ellis[/name] or some form of one of these? I have a Gpa named [name]Elvin[/name], which Hubby really wants to honour, since no one has ever taken the plunge with such an “out there” name and he figures this will be “Elvins” only chance. It does not go with [name]Axton[/name] to me. Hubby is also VERY against double middle names, but may give in on that if I find a good combo. [name]Werner[/name] is another option, but I don’t like the double “ER”. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!
PS - some of you may recognize me from the “Emerick” post a few days ago.
[name]Axton[/name] [name]Elvin[/name] is a bit of a tongue twister and the endings are matchy. Having said that, how many times in his life would you be saying them both together? Not many I bet so maybe you should seriously consider it to please your husband. It certainly isn’t the worst name that I’ve heard. Another alternative could be [name]Axton[/name] [name]Calvin[/name] which is similar to [name]Elvin[/name]. From your list, [name]Axton[/name] [name]Cole[/name] and [name]Axton[/name] [name]Clark[/name] would be other strong options for a boy. I tried out different combinations for three names and strangely enough [name]Axton[/name] [name]Elvin[/name] sound better together than broken up (eg [name]Axton[/name] [name]Elvin[/name] [name]Cole[/name] has better flow than [name]Axton[/name] [name]Cole[/name] [name]Elvin[/name] to my ears). I’m not too crazy about the [name]German[/name] name [name]Werner[/name] (pronounced with a “V” i/o “W”). [name]Elvin[/name] softens [name]Axton[/name] while [name]Werner[/name] makes it too macho for my taste. I would stick to [name]Axton[/name] [name]Elvin[/name].
Wow! I am surprised someone is agreeing with my hubby here. He’ll be very happy I guess I assume [name]Elvin[/name] is an automatic “out” since it has the same “n” ending as [name]Axton[/name]. Plus I’m not a huge fan of the name. My other son [name]Holden[/name]'s MN is [name]Reginald[/name], another name I dislike, but it’s his Daddy’s name and has a deep rooted history on his side of the fam. I think [name]Holden[/name] is the 7th generation to carry on the name. [name]Elvin[/name] isn’t that bad, I guess, and this honestly would be it’s best chance of getting carried on. I’ll think about it :)Thanks so much for your feedback!
Would you and your hubby consider changing [name]Elvin[/name] to [name]Elvis[/name]? [name]Axton[/name] [name]Elvis[/name]? [name]Ellis[/name] would be my next choice. The softness of [name]Ellis[/name] would balance out ultra macho [name]Axton[/name]. What do you think?
I like [name]Elvin[/name] better than [name]Elvis[/name]. I had a cousing consider [name]Elvis[/name] as a mn for her son ( not b/c of our grandpa b/c of THE [name]Elvis[/name]) I wasn’t very supportive, so I wouldn’t feel right using it now. I do like [name]Ellis[/name] a lot - it’s actually a mix of both my g-parents names [name]Elvin[/name] and [name]Lois[/name], but my hubby thinks it’s too girly. Not sure if he’ll give on that one. Perhaps if I explain how “manly” of a name [name]Axton[/name] is, he’ll consider it for me?? Thanks for the input!
When I read the names you listed in your original post, [name]Axton[/name] [name]Clark[/name] really worked for me! I prefer [name]Axton[/name] [name]Ellis[/name] over [name]Axton[/name] [name]Elvin[/name] - and I like that it works as a combination of [name]Elvin[/name] and [name]Lois[/name].
