Okay, I’m getting pretty giddy that our gender sonogram is a few weeks away! Whether boy or girl we will be delighted. Y’all were such a help and we decided that if this babe is a girl, her name will be [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. It has been our girl name for 3+ years!
Here’s where the help comes in. We have always loved [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Cate[/name_f] and y’all were very supportive of this name! (If you are interested in the back story and our other kids’ names: Nameberry - Welcome to the Nameberry Forums)
I don’t know if it’s every where, but in my state and among my friends and acquaintances, [name_f]Kate[/name_f] seems be the middle name used over and over. So… do we keep our name or do you like one of these more? I’ll all ears for opinions! Also, we miscarried late [name_f]Spring[/name_f] and we named our baby [name_f]Rose[/name_f], so are there any botanical/nature middle names you suggest to honor her sister’s life? Thanks in advance!!
I love [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]. It is an unusual combination to me, but they sound good together. Seeing how it is also a family name I would prefer it over [name_f]Cate[/name_f].
[name_u]Wren[/name_u] is used a lot either as a first or second so it would not be my choice.
[name_u]Rae[/name_u] somehow feels a bit too modern next to [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f].
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. Our daughter’s full name is [name_f]Nora[/name_f], but if our last name didn’t sound awkward with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], that would’ve been her full first name and her nickname would be [name_f]Nora[/name_f].
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Cate[/name_f] is super sweet. I adore it! However, I understand your popularity concern.
My immediate thought is to pair a more spunky, organic middle name with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. I like the suggestions of [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_u]Skye[/name_u] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f].
I love the names [name_u]Wren[/name_u] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], but I don’t think you should use a middle name that begins with the ‘r’ sound considering [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] ends in it.
thank you for taking the time to comment! so kind!
i love that a few of you liked the same middle names. i think i’m leaning towards:
eleanor iris (iris meaning rainbow… since this baby is a rainbow baby)
eleanor mae (so cute)
eleanor june (love the idea of EJ as a nick name)
eleanor jo (for family)
((and i actually adore ivy. i know it’s risky to not use a name because we are not guaranteed two girls. but i must save it just in case for a first name.))
i was actually thinking the same thing about an “r” middle name being too much with eleanor… and our last name has an r sound too.
I personally love [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Cate[/name_f]! Since [name_f]Cate[/name_f] is in the middle, the popularity wouldn’t really bother me. You might regret not using your long time love.
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Cate[/name_f] - [name_f]Cate[/name_f] looks like it’s shortened from [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f], which seems like a dated 90s name to me. I prefer the [name_f]Kate[/name_f] spelling, but even then I think it feels too spunky and abrupt to go with the flowing, quiet [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f].
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u] - the 'R’s slur together, doesn’t work
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u] - [name_u]Jo[/name_u] is always a cute middle name, but I don’t like the look of it with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. Especially have the two 'O’s so close together. It also seems abrupt
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] - the 'R’s slur together out loud, doesn’t work
In your poll, I voted for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f], which has a perfect flow and matches the gentle and classic feel of [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f].
Looking at your previous post (thanks for the link!), I’m wondering if you would consider [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]? I’d have voted for it even sooner than [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f], but they are both perfect!
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] Vie (meaning “life” in [name_m]French[/name_m])
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] Reve (meaning “dream” in [name_m]French[/name_m])
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] Deer
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] Vie (“life” in [name_m]French[/name_m])
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] Reve (“dream” in [name_m]French[/name_m])
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] Deer
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] Vie (“life” in [name_m]French[/name_m])
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] Reve (“dream” in [name_m]French[/name_m])
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] Deer
If you love [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Cate[/name_f] maybe you can consider [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Cadence[/name_f]. I adore that combo.
I’m so sorry for your loss; congratulations on your next adventure!
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is my favorite of your top picks. I agree that [name_f]Cate[/name_f]/[name_f]Kate[/name_f] seems to be everywhere.
I didn’t read all of the replies, there might be repeats…
