First off, I know [name_f]Ismay[/name_f] isn’t to everyone’s taste — it reminds some of “dismay” and others of Titanic — but I’m going through an [name_f]Ismay[/name_f] craze here so please bear with me!
I’m looking for a longish middle, three syllables ideally, and preferably something traditional but still a little surprising/underused (my kids’ middles are [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] and [name_f]Helena[/name_f], for reference).
I’m not in love with any of these, though (yet — I could be convinced if any jump out to you!) Quite a few seem a bit too foreign or “try hard” with the already very unusual [name_f]Ismay[/name_f].
I’d love to hear your suggestions: please help me fall in love with an [name_f]Ismay[/name_f] combo!
I love [name_f]Ismay[/name_f]! So sweet. [name_f]Ismay[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] is probably my favorite with your other kiddos name. And it has a nice flow.
I do love [name_f]Ismay[/name_f]! [name_m]Even[/name_m] though [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] is not a particular favourite of mine I like the way it works with [name_f]Ismay[/name_f]. [name_f]Ismay[/name_f] [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] is the other one on your list that stands out to me. I work on genealogy and [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] is a name that comes up often in past times and seems to carry a real strength of tradition while still feeling fun and playful to me, and balances the very unusual and slightly serious sounding [name_f]Ismay[/name_f]. [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] is good as well. I love the suggestion of [name_f]Ismay[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f]. [name_f]Ismay[/name_f] Floriane rather than [name_u]Florian[/name_u]?
[name_f]Ismay[/name_f] Thamasin/ [name_f]Thomasina[/name_f]
[name_f]Ismay[/name_f] [name_m]Julian[/name_m] (too medieval? - since [name_m]Julian[/name_m] has been used solely as a male name for a long time)
[name_f]Ismay[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Ismay[/name_f] [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]
[name_f]Ismay[/name_f] [name_f]Kerensa[/name_f]
[name_f]Ismay[/name_f] [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f]
[name_f]Ismay[/name_f] [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
[name_f]Ismay[/name_f] [name_f]Leonora[/name_f]
[name_f]Ismay[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Ismay[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Ismay[/name_f] Tuppence
[name_f]Ismay[/name_f] [name_f]Phyllida[/name_f]
[name_f]Ismay[/name_f] [name_f]Cressida[/name_f]
[name_f]Ismay[/name_f] [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Ismay[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Ismay[/name_f] [name_f]Celestine[/name_f]
[name_f]Ismay[/name_f] Gwenlowen
I love [name_f]Ismay[/name_f]! Of your list, my favorite is [name_f]Ismay[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Ismay[/name_f] [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] too but it isn’t aesthetically appealing to me. I really love the suggestion of [name_f]Ismay[/name_f] [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]!
@babies123 [name_f]Ismay[/name_f] sounds great with [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], and I love [name_f]Ismay[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f]. [name_f]Simona[/name_f] is a beautiful name too. Thanks!
@brittanyanitarose [name_f]Alberta[/name_f], [name_f]Vevina[/name_f] (new to me but beautiful) and [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f] are wonderful with [name_f]Ismay[/name_f]. I especially adore the latter. And [name_f]Daffodil[/name_f] is fun!
@araminty I’m actually really taken with [name_f]Ismay[/name_f] [name_m]Julian[/name_m] (my father’s name), as well as [name_u]Florian[/name_u] above. Possibly a little too medieval, yes, but beautiful! I’m also loving [name_f]Kerensa[/name_f], [name_f]Theodora[/name_f], [name_f]Leonora[/name_f], Tuppence (yes!) and [name_f]Celestine[/name_f] from your wonderful suggestions.
@yuma [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] and [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] really appeal to me, thanks!
@wintersage [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] is lovely! A very good friend of mine is named [name_f]Veronica[/name_f], and it does flow beautifully with [name_f]Ismay[/name_f].
@katinka I’m happy a few of the names stuck out to you! I had a feeling you would like Vevina.
And I know Daffodil isn’t everyone’s taste when it comes to floral names but it definitely plays nicely with Ismay. I hope the thread yields some inspiring options for you!
Ooh, even more lovely ideas! [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f], [name_f]Endellion[/name_f], [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]… So much inspiration here, big thanks to all who’ve commented.
