[name_m]Yannick[/name_m] [name_u]Lionel[/name_u] is great! I also like [name_m]Yannick[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m]

[name_m]Yannick[/name_m] was my favourite for you! Nice choice. You have a great list of possible middles so I would just say that my two least favourites are [name_m]Kilian[/name_m] and [name_m]Richard[/name_m] (if that is helpful at all, lol) but I’m not sure which of the others stands out as they are all very nice. Perhaps there’s one person in the group that you would love to honour more than the others?

Warmest congratulations, @michael82!

[name_f]May[/name_f] I suggest:

[name_m]Santiago[/name_m] {and} [name_f]Guadalupe[/name_f]

{Spanish four-syllable place and saint names}

[name_m]Yannick[/name_m] [name_m]Alfonso[/name_m]! I absolutely adore [name_m]Alfonso[/name_m], and I like how it sounds with [name_m]Yannick[/name_m]. My second choice would be [name_m]Yannick[/name_m] [name_u]Lionel[/name_u].

So glad you’re going with [name_m]Yannick[/name_m] — I absolutely love it!

[name_m]Yannick[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] strikes me as the perfect package here:

  • Sounds great, flows nicely;
  • A good balance between a more unusual first name and a solid, traditional, familiar middle;
  • Holds the same amount of significance to both sides of your family, appearing in both of your fathers’ names.

I would choose the [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] spelling because it’s not exactly the same as either of your fathers, so no one seems to have taken preference.

Good luck!

It is funny that you mention [name_m]Santiago[/name_m] because this is the name of our first son :slight_smile:

I agree that [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] would be a great choice because of the connection to both my wife’s and my family. And I think we would have picked the [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] spelling because of the exact reason you mentioned. My only reservation is that in [name_m]German[/name_m] the letter “J” is pronounced the same way as the “Y”. My first reaction was that it sounds a little funny (imagine the spelling of [name_m]Yannick[/name_m] [name_m]Yosef[/name_m]).

I voted for [name_m]Yannick[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m] or [name_m]Yannick[/name_m] [name_m]Kilian[/name_m]. [name_m]Yannick[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]/[name_m]Josef[/name_m] sounds okay in English, but because of the first name, I pronounced [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] with the [name_m]German[/name_m] pronunciation, which sounds really odd with [name_m]Yannick[/name_m].

My votes went to [name_m]Yannick[/name_m] [name_u]Lionel[/name_u] (being a top contender, you must adore it, and it’s lovely pronounced as you prefer it) & [name_m]Yannick[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] (to honor both grandfathers, and also, I don’t think [name_m]Yannick[/name_m] ‘[name_m]Yosef[/name_m]’ sounds too bad at all either).

Hello everybody!
Thank you again for all your comments! We really loved [name_m]Yannick[/name_m] [name_m]Leonel[/name_m]/[name_u]Lionel[/name_u] because those were the two finalists for the first name and together they also sound lovely.
But in the end, we preferred to have a middle name with a family connection. We were debating mostly [name_m]Edward[/name_m] and [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]. I had my reservations about [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] at first because in [name_m]German[/name_m] (my family is [name_m]German[/name_m]) both J and Y sound like the Y in English. But, I think I got used to the idea and as we are living in the U.S., it may not be a big deal anyways. So, we will go with [name_m]Yannick[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] because of the connection to both of our dads’ names.

You have chosen the perfect name which includes one of your favourites and one that honours family on both sides. Keep us posted when baby [name_m]Yannick[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] arrives. Best wishes!

I absolutely love the sound of [name_m]Yannick[/name_m] [name_m]Gerhard[/name_m]; it is very pleasing to say out loud, and the two names seem made for each other.

I voted for [name_m]Yannick[/name_m] [name_m]Josef[/name_m] as a runner-up.
