A misanthropic genius

I need a name for an antisocial, unheard-of teenage prodigy that lives in a suburbia and is generally unhappy with life. He’s very sarcastic and appreciates little. I need a name that reflects his personality while still being plausible for a teenager to have.

Other characters’ names in the story: [name_f]Lauren[/name_f], [name_u]Mel[/name_u], [name_m]Gregory[/name_m], [name_f]Hannah[/name_f].

I would be inclined to reference a famous writer, which in my mind would create the expectation of intelligence and ego as key character traits: [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]/[name_u]Ellison[/name_u], [name_u]Dorian[/name_u], [name_u]Dylan[/name_u], [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u], [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], [name_m]Marsden[/name_m]…

If you don’t like surname names, an old-fashioned name that has been gone long enough to be fresh again could create a similar impression: [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], [name_m]Alistair[/name_m], [name_m]Nolan[/name_m], [name_u]Reid[/name_u]…

If commonality is no barrier, [name_m]Will[/name_m] seems to be a kind of timeless standby.

Those might be problematic if his intelligence is supposed to set him apart from his family, though; they’re all pretty uppity names. If his family is supposed to be lowerclass, something more common and serviceable is probably the way to go. Maybe even have him go by something other than his real name. Most self-styled misanthropic geniuses in my life have tried to choose their own names, with varying degrees of success :stuck_out_tongue:
