A Modern Beauty and the Beast...with Vampires!

I came up with the idea of a modern Beauty and the Beast kind of story, but with vampires. But I can’t think of names for ANY of the characters. All suggestions are welcome, and I will need suggestions for last names, too. Please help!

HUMAN HEROINE: She is 21 years old, petite and slender with silky-smooth, wavy dark brown hair and blue eyes. Like [name]Belle[/name], she’s smart, caring, loves to read, and has an amazing imagination. Unlike [name]Belle[/name], she’s a little rough around the edges and fiercely independent, with a tiny bit of a temper. At first, she’s not particularly happy about being locked away in a beautiful mansion in the deep woods of [name]Montana[/name], but she’s grateful to the the vampire for saving her life. Eventually, she comes to care for him very deeply, not admitting to herself she’s actually head over heels.

VAMPIRE [name]HERO[/name]: He is 30 years old, tall and lean with black hair that’s a little long and intense gray eyes. Unlike the Disney movie and more like the French traditional fairy tale the movie was based on, the vampire is very kind and gentle towards the heroine from the beginning, letting her stay on her own free will and treating her like a princess, as well as good to his loyal staff. However, he’s not a hideous beast, in fact he’s extremely good-looking, but his house was cursed by a witch ex-girlfriend after he dumped her. He finds himself in the middle of a messy love triangle when he falls for the heroine and his ex tries to get him back.

The staff are all supernaturals–witches, fairies, werewolves, etc. All have varying degrees of different personalities and backgrounds, but most of them become the heroine’s friends. What names do you picture being on a vampire’s devoted, magical servants? And, if you have any suggestions for the vampire’s ex-girlfriend or any other types of characters, feel free to add them in!

Have fun!

First of all, what a cool idea! I bet you’ll have fun writing it!

NB has a list of werewolf names: 107 Werewolf Baby Names | Nameberry
Some of the names on the list I disagree with but others are really good.

NB also has a list of vampire names: Vampire Names | Nameberry
This list is very short and again, has good and bad names. But perhaps it will help.

Here is a considerably longer list of vampire names which is not from NB: http://vampirenamegenerator.net/vampire-names.html
It’s very thorough so hopefully it will help.

I found this particularly helpful when naming fairies in one of my own works: Fairy Names and Meanings, Girls and Boys
Hopefully it helps you too!

This site may possible be a little out-there for first names, but may come in handy for surnames: Possible Mage Names or Aliases

This site may come in handy for unusual names: Random Name Generator - Behind the Name

If you want names that are unusual but feminine, here’s an NB blog post: Antique Baby Names: Collecting Collectible Names | Nameberry
As I said, unusual, but very feminine.

[name]Hope[/name] some of this links help dear!

That sounds fun! I’d read it!
[name]How[/name] about a different spin on the name [name]Belle[/name]? [name]Isabelle[/name]/[name]Isobel[/name], [name]Bellamy[/name] or [name]Belen[/name], or [name]Bette[/name], or [name]Elle[/name]? Or just something else that sounds French or means beautiful. Other ideas: [name]Rose[/name], [name]Fleur[/name], [name]Celeste[/name], [name]Celine[/name], [name]Sylvie[/name], [name]Beatrice[/name], [name]Evangeline[/name], [name]Eve[/name]
As for the male, I’m thinking something rugged and country. [name]Bo[/name]/[name]Beau[/name], [name]Bowen[/name]/[name]Bowie[/name], [name]Sebastian[/name]/[name]Bastian[/name], [name]Gabriel[/name], [name]Julian[/name], [name]Jude[/name], [name]Jackson[/name]/[name]Jax[/name], [name]Rex[/name]
Servants, friends, etc:
The women could be flower names: [name]Violet[/name], [name]Lily[/name], [name]Daisy[/name], [name]Dahlia[/name], [name]Iris[/name], [name]Marigold[/name], etc. The men could be names like [name]Dash[/name], [name]Jett[/name], [name]Chase[/name], [name]Cole[/name]
Ex-girlfriend: [name]Saskia[/name] (means knife)
Good luck!

What a fantastic concept - I wish I’d thought of it!

The original was set in [name]France[/name], and I can’t help feeling like the heroine could use a bit of French influence in her name. [name]Claire[/name] is my first thought, it’s a French classic that translates well to [name]Montana[/name] and sounds modern enough. [name]Manon[/name] could work too, maybe.

I like Niteowls suggestion of [name]Sebastian[/name] is great, athough might draw some Disney associations.
