My partner and I have recently considered newborn and baby photography on a professional level, due to the popularity of baby shoots for friends. If this idea came into fruition, what would be a good name for the business? I don’t want to be Alistephe (first and last name) Photography, as while this seems like a sensible option, I enjoy my privacy and don’t want to be advertising my name all over the web. On the other end of the spectrum, I’m trying to avoid cutesy names or names that restrict me to infant photography. Sparkle [name]Rainbow[/name] Photography and Fuzzy Wuzzy Bumpkin Photography are out. I know this doesn’t belong in the ‘[name]Baby[/name] Names’ topic but I wasn’t sure where else to post it. All suggestions welcome!
Hey [name]Ali[/name], I’ve been thinking about this for a little while and thought about [name]Anne[/name] Geddes. What I always liked about the company was that it felt like it was the creative work of one person and not a corporation. Obviously Fuzzy Wuzzy Bumpkin Photography doesn’t work quite as well on that front.
If you want your privacy you could come up with a creative alter-ego name.
[name]Remember[/name] that (unfortunately) artists are their own brand and thus best marketing tool.
Words/Names that mean new or life that might come in handy for constructing a baby photography company name:
[name]Vida[/name]/[name]Vita[/name]/ Vitalia
[name]Zoe[/name]
Keola/[name]Neola[/name]
Genova
[name]Aviv[/name]
[name]Nouvel[/name]
Thanks [name]Lexie[/name]!
Your suggestions are fantastic. [name]Do[/name] you think that people would be offended if I used an alter ego, like I was lying to them?
I don’t really see why. Writers do it all the time when they use a “pen name” or actors change their names as well (often not legally). Also a number of states will allow you to have a “does business as” name. Though, usually it’s maiden names
I think it might come across as [name]Ali[/name] who works for [name]Vita[/name] Genova, who owns her own business but that’s not really the worst thing in the world. And if someone asks with a name like [name]Vita[/name] Genova you could just explain that the names mean and you thought it was appropriate without being so obvious. (If you have a website you could also explain this in the “about us” section. It would still give you that feel of a name but still allow you to put your cards on the table).
[name]Dimple[/name].
Is that weird?
