A Name for Lila’s Sister

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] All, we need help with a girl name. We had a relatively easy time picking [name_f]Lila[/name_f] for my daughter, but now with a second girl on the way, we can’t find anything that just feels right and we are running out of time! [name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I are considering the names below, but would love any suggestions. I think I am leaning toward something shorter like [name_f]Lila[/name_f] but am open to anything. Thanks!

[name_f]Annie[/name_f] (not sure this would be good for an adult)
[name_f]Anna[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Celia[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] ([name_f]Maddie[/name_f])
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] (my husband doesn’t like it)
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] (my husband is probably not a fan)

Lila & [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] is a favourite sister set of mine!

Hi there.

Lila is so pretty. Here are my thoughts on the list:

Annie-I like this a lot as a nn. It’s sweet & classic. I do think it’s too nick-namey though. There are tons of great names w/Annie as a nn. I like [name_u]Anne[/name_u], [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Annabella[/name_f], [name_f]Annika[/name_f] or [name_f]Susanna[/name_f].

Anna-I like this too. It’s a little bland, but a kind, smart, simple classic.

Cora-This is nice. Kind of old fashioned & homey, but in a great way! It’s sweet & simple like [name_f]Lila[/name_f].

Celia-I like this! It’s not heard that often. It’s smart, feminine, classy & grows up well. I like it w/Lila too.

Madeleine ([name_f]Maddie[/name_f])-This confuses me, because I thought it was Mad-uh-line, but then learned that it was maybe Mad-uh-len? I really like [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] said Mad-uh-line, personally. Either way, [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] is not my cup of tea. It just sounds a little 90s.

Hazel-I like it okay, but am just a little tired of it.

Ruby-Too bad your husband doesn’t like this. It’s darling.

Here are a few more ideas that you may like:

Ava-super popular, but I like it.

I love [name_f]Lila[/name_f] & [name_f]Eve[/name_f] (can nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f]) or [name_f]Lila[/name_f] & [name_f]Cora[/name_f]

Lila and [name_f]Mariana[/name_f]
[name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_f]Hannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_f]Eviana[/name_f]
[name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_f]Savannah[/name_f]

I dont love [name_f]Anna[/name_f] by itself with [name_f]Lila[/name_f] but maybe as part of the name?

What about [name_f]Tessa[/name_f]? I also really like [name_f]Anna[/name_f].

Wow, thank you all for your suggestions and comments. It’s helpful to get ideas not to mention feedback on if the names we are considering are dated, or whatever else comes to mind. :slightly_smiling_face:

I love [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_f]Annie[/name_f]!

I know an adult [name_f]Annie[/name_f] and I have never thought it was too “young”

I love [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f] or [name_f]Celia[/name_f]! I also like [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_f]Aria[/name_f]

If you’re not sure about [name_f]Annie[/name_f], maybe use it as a nn for [name_f]Anna[/name_f]?

Cora is perfect with [name_f]Lila[/name_f]! I love how they’re the same number of letters and are known but not overly popular.

Cora

Annie and [name_f]Cora[/name_f] are wonderful

I’ll suggest [name_f]Emmy[/name_f], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] with [name_f]Lila[/name_f]

Ruby was my first thought before I read your list. I think its great with [name_f]Lila[/name_f].

Your name list is very nice. Any of them would be lovely choices. [name_f]Annie[/name_f] could be the nn for [name_f]Anna[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f]! In my mind, they seem to fit the best together out of the names you’re considering. They both have a sweet, slightly vintage flair to them. [name_f]Annie[/name_f] does seem a bit nickname-y. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] feels a little plain next to [name_f]Lila[/name_f]. [name_f]Celia[/name_f] could work, but it does have some of the same sounds as [name_f]Lila[/name_f], so might be a little close. [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] does look a bit long next to [name_f]Lila[/name_f]. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] could have also been nice options, but not if your husband doesn’t like them.

I think [name_f]Cora[/name_f] is perfect! I also second the idea of [name_f]Ada[/name_f] suggested by @MichelleM.

I also have a [name_f]Lila[/name_f]! I like [name_f]Cora[/name_f] the most.

Welcome to Nameberry! [name_f]My[/name_f] favourites on your list are [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and [name_f]Annie[/name_f]/Anna. [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] is cute but [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] would be difficult to avoid as a nickname and there are just soooo many little Maddies in school and in the playground that it reads much less exciting than [name_f]Lila[/name_f], which is lovely BTW.

I second the suggestion of [name_u]June[/name_u]! I think [name_u]June[/name_u] and [name_f]Lila[/name_f] are such a perfect sibset. I know two sisters who are [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] and they sound great together too.

Carys
[name_f]Esme[/name_f]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_f]Ziva[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleni[/name_f]
[name_u]Nova[/name_u]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]

With [name_f]Lila[/name_f] my favorites from your list are [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f] and [name_f]Celia[/name_f].

Other suggestions
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]/Julia
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]

[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
