A name that links Elizabeth/Betty and nature

For our first child, we picked a middle name as a nod to my [name_f]Nana[/name_f]. Her name was [name_f]Mavis[/name_f], meaning 'songbird" so we picked [name_f]Wren[/name_f] as a nod to that.

[name_f][/name_f]

For kiddo number two we want to have a similar nod but to my husband’s grandparents. We don’t know what we’re having and have picked [name_m]Harris[/name_m] for a middle name if the kiddo is a boy.

However, we are stumped for a girl’s middle name. We want a name that has both a connection to Elizabeth/Betty and nature. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you guys have any suggestions on names that fit this criteria?

How about [name_f]Lily[/name_f]? It’s historically been a nickname for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. [name_m]Or[/name_m] [name_f]Lilibet[/name_f], [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], or [name_f]Lilibeth[/name_f], all of which are also diminutives of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].

Following up to also suggest [name_f]Bee[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Bee[/name_f] would make an adorable middle name.

[name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] as nn!

I second the suggestion of [name_f]Lily[/name_f]! Although it’s not commonly used as a nickname for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], it is a diminutive!

Our first kiddo’s name is [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] so any [name_f]Lil[/name_f]- names are off the table unfortunately.

[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]! Means “brave bear” and shares sounds with [name_f]Betty[/name_f].

[name_f]Elowen[/name_f] shares the [name_f]El[/name_f] of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and means [name_m]Elm[/name_m].

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Brielle[/name_f] has elements of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (b, e, el). Some definitions say “hunting grounds.”

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Elia[/name_m] can be short of lots of names. Maybe there’s one with a nature connection? [name_f]Celia[/name_f] says “heavenly.”

What about [name_m]Betony[/name_m]?

Seconding [name_m]Betony[/name_m]. I also recommend [name_f]Betula[/name_f] which is the Latin name for birch.
