THANK YOU to everyone for the hundreds and hundreds of thoughtful suggestions! My husband gave me a NEW list of names he likes, so I decided to close this thread and move to a new one for new ideas.
[name_f]Delia[/name_f]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f]
[name_u]Dagny[/name_u] (she’ll get married some day and its a great name!)
Darienne
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]/Wilhemina
Hello, saracita00. After reading your thread the following names came to my mind, with possible nicknames in the brackets:
[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] ([name_f]Tilly[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Lottie[/name_f], [name_u]Ollie[/name_u])
[name_f]Saskia[/name_f] ([name_f]Ki[/name_f], Sassy)
[name_f]Raina[/name_f] ([name_u]Rainy[/name_u], [name_u]Rae[/name_u], Roo)
[name_f]Valeria[/name_f] ([name_f]Lera[/name_f], [name_f]Ria[/name_f])
[name_f]Veronica[/name_f] ([name_f]Vera[/name_f], [name_u]Ronnie[/name_u], [name_f]Nica[/name_f])
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] ([name_f]Sue[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_f]Susie[/name_f])
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] ([name_f]Rosie[/name_f], [name_f]Linda[/name_f], [name_u]Allie[/name_u])
[name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] ([name_f]Ginny[/name_f], [name_f]Neva[/name_f])
This is just kind of brainstorm so I understand if you don’t like any.
Good luck,
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f].
[name_f]Noelle[/name_f] (lots of nickname possibilities that you could get creative with: [name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Nola[/name_f], [name_u]Noah[/name_u])
[name_f]Winifred[/name_f]/[name_f]Winnie[/name_f] is one I thought of
Despite his fondness for simple straightforward cute nicknames, you both seem to have a taste for romantic, unusual names.
A few other ideas:
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f]/[name_u]Tavi[/name_u] (ok, I guess that’s a T)
[name_f]Raffaela[/name_f] or [name_f]Raphaela[/name_f]/[name_m]Rafi[/name_m] (too boyish?)
[name_f]Antonia[/name_f]
[name_f]Signy[/name_f]
[name_f]Natalia[/name_f]/[name_m]Natty[/name_m] or [name_u]Tali[/name_u] (another T)
[name_f]Adelia[/name_f]/[name_f]Addie[/name_f] or [name_f]Delia[/name_f]
[name_f]Mercedes[/name_f]/[name_f]Mercy[/name_f]
@adriennel - thanks for the ideas! I like Darienne, I’ve never seen it before. I do like [name_f]Daria[/name_f], but DH vetoed it. This one might stand a chance.
[name_f]Delia[/name_f] - stylistically about right, and it has been on again, off again, but the meaning ultimately takes it out.
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] - nononono
[name_u]Dagny[/name_u] - our surname resembles [name_m]Taggart[/name_m]. I feel like it sounds like we were trying to name her exactly after [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] Shrugged.
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] - [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t like this one enough to upend [name_f]Willow[/name_f].
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] - too fussy.
I still like [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] for you. Maybe [name_f]Ivana[/name_f]/[name_f]Ivanna[/name_f] ? Maybe [name_f]Signe[/name_f] to replace [name_u]Dagny[/name_u]? [name_f]Willow[/name_f] is my favorite from your list, and I don’t think anyone will reference the movie [name_f]Willow[/name_f]. It’s an older movie.
[name_f]Arielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Amara[/name_f]
[name_f]Natalia[/name_f] – as opposed to [name_f]Natalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Cleo[/name_f]/[name_f]Clio[/name_f]
[name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]
[name_f]Callista[/name_f]
[name_f]Briony[/name_f]
[name_f]Silvie[/name_f]/[name_f]Silvia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] – or [name_f]Leona[/name_f] with [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] as a nickname
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Claudia[/name_f]
[name_f]Bianca[/name_f]
[name_f]Luna[/name_f]
Fiana – resuggesting this one, fee-ah-na
[name_f]Adele[/name_f]
[name_f]Juno[/name_f]
[name_f]Junia[/name_f]
[name_f]Vera[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Mila[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Phaedra[/name_f]
[name_f]Celia[/name_f]
[name_f]Zoe[/name_f]
[name_f]Violette[/name_f]/[name_f]Violetta[/name_f] – saying it vee-oh-let(a) – does this fix the problem with [name_f]Viola[/name_f]?
Delfia – I redo this one because [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] is also a saint. Does that help?
You’re getting some great suggestions here. I second [name_f]Signy[/name_f], but as I suggested it in the previous round, I’m guessing it’s not your cup of tea.
Ludivine is pretty cute, and it’s beautiful as well. Too French?
These are Scandinavian names:
Borgny
[name_f]Dagmar[/name_f]

[name_f]Hulda[/name_f]
Iselinn
[name_f]Jesenia[/name_f]
Livny
Lussie
[name_f]Malene[/name_f]
[name_f]Ronja[/name_f]
[name_f]Sigrid[/name_f]
Sigrun
Synnøve
This is baby #5 for us. The other children are C@spian, Zeph@n, [name_f]Eve[/name_f] nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f], and Per3grine nn [name_m]Pip[/name_m].
No C, E, P, T or Z names.
No ends in S, T, or ER names (and preferably not N but it’s negotiable).
I don’t care for any of the -[name_f]LINE[/name_f] names.
I don’t care for any name with “loo” in it.
DH will reject any name that resembles [name_f]Eileen[/name_f]. Like [name_f]Irene[/name_f]. Forget it. Also, any [name_f]Mar[/name_f]- name is out. [name_m]Both[/name_m] due to unpleasant family connections for him.
Needless to say: boys are weird. But as you are in the middle of the naming journey, I guess it’s OK to do a scratch and start with new ones. I did it!
At least your husband likes [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] too; the flowers are beautiful, Great [name_m]Gatsby[/name_m] is a cool reference and though it’s cutesy(not overly), it’s not cheesy or very childish. I know adult Daisies and the name ages just fine but; how do YOU feel about it?
