A new "Classic" fairy tale, Main Character needs a name.

I am writing a picture book which very much has a simular feel to classic fairy tales like [name]Hansel[/name] and Grettal or [name]Little[/name] [name]Red[/name] Riding Hood.

The main character is a girl around 9 years old. My 5 year old wants her to be named [name]Lisa[/name]. lol But I’m not sure I’m feeling that.

What do you think about [name]Lettie[/name]?

I don’t love it…but it seems to fit the nameberry style…so I’m sure some mamaberries will approve…

I think [name]Lettie[/name] is really cute! It has that same feel that it seems like you’re going for. Maybe [name]Clara[/name], [name]Tessa[/name], [name]Millie[/name], or [name]Olive[/name], too?

Good luck!

[name]Lettie[/name] is adorable!

[name]Lettie[/name] is incredibly cute, and I think that it fits the vibe you described perfectly. I think another positive for [name]Lettie[/name] is that it sort of seems to fit into the sweet spot of being not commonly used but sounding similar to other names that are more popular or more well-known - [name]Hattie[/name] seems to be making a small surge at the moment and could possibly be on its way up, and [name]Violet[/name] is rather trendy right now as well.

Would the character’s full name be [name]Lettie[/name], or would it be short for something like [name]Violet[/name], [name]Letitia[/name], [name]Lettice[/name], or [name]Juliet[/name]? I think that there are a lot of full name options for [name]Lettie[/name]. Not that a full name would be neccessary in this particular situation.

Or…[name]Lottie[/name],( [name]Liselotte[/name] ) [name]Hattie[/name] ([name]Harriet[/name])
I dont like [name]Lettie[/name].

I have a friend named [name]Lotta[/name]. [name]Just[/name] another option.

I’m not sure of the setting of your story, but a lot of these classic fairy tales were Germanic. Have you considered [name]Liesl[/name]?

I don’t think it would be neccessary to inclue a longer name simply because of the simplicity and length of the story. I’m really glad you like it!

Jazzsammich I love the name [name]Liesl[/name], and actually want to use it in another longer, more adult story I’m working on!

I hadn’t concidered [name]Lotta[/name]. Maybe I will. It seems to be the more popular choice. Actually in some ways [name]Lotta[/name] would kind of echo the message of the story. Hummmm Thanks Berries! I’ll concider it!

I don’t typically like the name [name]Lettie[/name], but in this case, it is very effective. I think [name]Lisa[/name]'s okay, but I don’t feel it either. I always thought that unique flower names were always good for fairytales. i.e. [name]Azalea[/name], [name]Primrose[/name]. Often times, the princess or fairytale character has an amazing long full time, so sometimes the character’s first name is long. I can picture [name]Lettie[/name] for [name]Charlotte[/name] but can also picture [name]Lottie[/name] as a nickname. I really hope that I helped.
