Hard choice, but I ultimately voted for [name]Eva[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name] and here’s why…

If you asked me to choose between [name]Eva[/name] and [name]Annabel[/name], and didn’t give me any other factors (like [name]Gaby[/name]'s name, nn’s etc) I really don’t think I could choose! I love both so much, and I waver back and forth between which I prefer, but honestly it is a complete tie.

But when I factor in the (possible) similarities between [name]Annabel[/name] and [name]Gabriella[/name], the bad associations you have with an [name]Anna[/name], [name]Bella[/name] the dog, the fact that [name]Brent[/name] doesn’t want to nn her [name]Belle[/name] (and he got his way with [name]Gaby[/name]'s nn so there’s a good chance he would again) and the fact that I think your mum doesn’t like [name]Annabel[/name] and loves [name]Eva[/name] (my mum’s opinion is probably more important to me than anyone else’s!), [name]Eva[/name] has to win it for me.

I know [name]Annabel[/name] has been your front runner for a long time but I don’t think you’ve ever been truly comfortable with it, and I think that says a lot. I know [name]Eva[/name]'s relatively new to you as an option but I also know you’ve loved the nn [name]Evie[/name] for a while. I think you’ve grown attached to [name]Annabel[/name] because it’s the only one you and [name]Brent[/name] have really agreed on fully but I also think that you’d quickly get over it if you didn’t use it. As for the twinges of jealously when you hear a baby with that name (assuming you don’t use it) I honestly think you’ll probably get that with every name you don’t use ([name]Cecilia[/name], [name]Scarlett[/name], [name]Seraphina[/name], [name]Madeleine[/name], [name]Vivienne[/name], [name]Sophia[/name] etc) but you’ll get over it once your little girl “becomes” the name you choose.

I love [name]Eva[/name] - it’s so glamorous just like [name]Gabriella[/name] [name]Grace[/name], and the middle name [name]Madeleine[/name] makes it even more so! You get a first name you love that goes well with [name]Gabriella[/name] and doesn’t have any negative associations, [name]Brent[/name] gets a first name he likes and a middle he loves, and you also get the adorable nn you love, [name]Evie[/name] - with no arguments over which nn to use! Plus your mum loves it  Always a bonus to please your family! Lol.

So yes, I’d honestly be happy if you went with either of these names because their both beautiful, but [name]Eva[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name] (just) wins it for me!

I voted for [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Ava[/name] because I just love the way is sounds. I think it works well with [name]Gabriella[/name] [name]Grace[/name] not only because of the alliteration but because of the “(B)el” part. The names don’t rhyme but they go together, which is high on my list for siblings.
However, if you’re not sure about [name]Annabel[/name], I still like [name]Eva[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name]. I think those are both beautiful names but I don’t really like [name]Eva[/name] and [name]Gaby[/name] together.
I hope this helps, even a little bit!

Aw thank you, [name]Laura[/name]! I like how you summarized everything very concisely, lol! I have to agree with you on pretty much your entire post, now that you mention it all. I am still attempting to get used to [name]Eva[/name]…it really is starting to seem plausible as an option! Thank you again for all your insights!

Also [name]Erica[/name], I still hope that you get to use [name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Lily[/name] because it’s beautiful and is your favourite, but if I was choosing for my own daughter I actually think I’d prefer [name]Eva[/name] (slightly) over both [name]Annabel[/name] and [name]Vivienne[/name]! That says a lot because [name]Vivienne[/name] is stunning lol.

[name]Erica[/name],

I think I agree with [name]Laura[/name]. As much as I love everything about [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Ava[/name], from the sound to the flow to the alliteration, I’m not sure I love it for you. There will always be that question of whether or not the name is too close to [name]Gaby[/name]‘s name, and although I’ve resolved my issues with it and have decided to look at it as something that unites the girls’ names, I worry it will always be a point of concern for you. The issue of your distaste for [name]Anne[/name] is obviously something to worry about, considering you don’t care for the name or the person - not to mention, your [name]Anne[/name] has suggested that you are naming your daughter after her! And, [name]Marissa[/name] not liking it, though fairly insignificant, is regrettable. Then there is the question of the nickname, especially considering that [name]Belle[/name] emphasizes the similarities between the two names and links back to your mom’s dog, [name]Bella[/name]. I’d use [name]Annie[/name] in a heartbeat for [name]Annabel[/name]'s nickname - because, let’s face it, she’ll be given a nickname - but I know you wouldn’t be comfortable with that because of the [name]Anne[/name] connection. So, those are things that I think are holding you back from truly embracing the name.

(I’m not saying you couldn’t get over all of those and use the name - it IS beautiful! - but I worry those concerns will stay in the back of your mind and make it harder to really love [name]Annabel[/name]'s name.)

On the other hand, [name]Eva[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name] is fresh and fun and romantic and really bears no similarity to [name]Gabriella[/name]'s name - a plus, since that seems to be a constant issue for you. It seems like a natural fit with [name]Gabriella[/name]'s name, and it has a lovely meaning. It is a timeless sort of name that feels all at once old and new, and I think it pairs beautifully with [name]Madeleine[/name], a name that [name]Brent[/name] has always loved. It would be good to give him that, I think. Here, there is no question of nickname - either she has one, [name]Evie[/name], or she’ll remain as [name]Eva[/name], both of which sound equally good alongside [name]Gaby[/name]. You don’t have to worry if the name sounds too similar or if [name]Eva[/name] will sound like [name]Gaby[/name]'s grandma because they are on par, style-wise. I know [name]Marissa[/name] isn’t a fan of this one, either, but at least your mother likes it - always a plus! As for your debate about whether or not [name]Eva[/name] will be “at home” on your daughter, I invite you to look at these pictures of fair-skinned [name]Eva[/name]'s:

We have actress [name]Eva[/name] [name]Marie[/name] [name]Saint[/name] - [name]Eva[/name] must have been a popular name for actresses during the [name]Golden[/name] Age of Hollywood, right? - sporting the light blond look:

We have British actress [name]Eva[/name] Pope with light brown hair and brown eyes:

And, finally, we have [name]Eva[/name] [name]Green[/name], with very dark brunette hair and light eyes:

[name]Lauren[/name]

PS And, [name]Erica[/name], if I’m being totally honest, I prefer [name]Eva[/name], then [name]Annabel[/name], over [name]Vivienne[/name]. Sorry!

[name]Hi[/name] [name]Erica[/name]! I thought long and hard about this new poll, and I chose [name]Eva[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name]! While I always favored [name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Lily[/name] before, I feel [name]Eva[/name] and [name]Gabriella[/name] make a better sibset! I do like [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Ava[/name], but I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Eva[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name]! Good luck! (I wish I had NB when I was pregnant with my 2 children!)

[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Ava[/name]! I don’t think there is an issue about using it with [name]Gabriella[/name] at all!

Beautiful combo, love the nn of [name]Belle[/name]

I voted for [name]Annabel[/name], but after I read the posts, I changed my mind. [name]Annabel[/name] is too similar to [name]Gabriella[/name]. [name]Love[/name] [name]Eva[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name]!

I voted for [name]Eva[/name], for every reason that ljandrl stated. [name]Eva[/name] is a lovely name, and it really is perfect with [name]Gabriella[/name]!

All I can see are sisters [name]Ella[/name] and [name]Evie[/name] and that is close in sound, try switcheroo [name]Madeleine[/name] [name]Eva[/name] and [name]Gabriella[/name] [name]Grace[/name] nn [name]Lainey[/name] and [name]Ella[/name]

If you have a [name]Gabriella[/name] and an [name]Annabel[/name] you have an [name]Ella[/name] and an [name]Anna[/name] and that sounds fine.

rollo, thank you for your vote! I’m sorry, I forgot to mention our daughter [name]Gabriella[/name] only goes by [name]Gaby[/name], never [name]Elle[/name] or [name]Ella[/name] or anything like that. We did consider [name]Madeleine[/name] [name]Eva[/name] before but changed our minds due to [name]Madeleine[/name]'s popularity (and the popularity of [name]Maddie[/name], [name]Madison[/name], [name]Madilynn[/name], etc!).

[name]Hi[/name] [name]Erica[/name],

I didn’t vote, since I could not decide which I like best. I love both [name]Eva[/name] and [name]Annabel[/name], and have even considered naming my daughter [name]Annabel[/name] (can’t use [name]Eva[/name] since it’s my mom’s name and it’s our custom not to name after live relatives). Without knowing your story about how much you dislike [name]Anne[/name], [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Ava[/name] would have a slight edge over [name]Eva[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name], since I love the alliteration next to [name]Gabriella[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. However, knowing how much you hate [name]Anne[/name], [name]Eva[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name] has the advantage.

The two names have different feels to me. As a first name, [name]Eva[/name] strikes me as glamorous, whereas [name]Annabel[/name] strikes me as adorable. Would it help to think of the image that the first names give you, and think about how you want your daughter to be perceived, and then choose the name that you think would “fit” your daughter best?

Honestly, they’re both great names and I can’t see [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Ava[/name] or [name]Eva[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name] disliking her name.

After writing this post, I think I’ll go ahead and vote for [name]Eva[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name]. [name]Eva[/name] sounds a little bit more “grown up” to me than [name]Annabel[/name]. I would use [name]Eva[/name] in a heartbeat if it was not my mom’s name.

I have houseguests this weekend so I haven’t completely caught up on the other thread yet, but I did skim! I really like [name]Eva[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name] and that name gets my vote for your little girl.

Have a good one!

Hey guys,
Sorry, this won’t really clarify anything, but I was just thinking that maybe part of my issue between these two names is that I actually LIKE the name [name]Annabel[/name] better than I like [name]Eva[/name], but all the stuff with [name]Annabel[/name] ([name]Anne[/name]/[name]Anna[/name] and the puppy [name]Bella[/name]) obviously entices me to choose [name]Eva[/name]. But I just keep picturing my old friend whenever I think about [name]Eva[/name], which is hard too! I dunno…we may have to take these to the hospital. :frowning: I hate to do that, but I just don’t know if I can decide!

When I read [name]Laura[/name]'s very first post on here, and [name]Lauren[/name]'s awesome illustrated post  ,both totally reinforced why I think we should choose [name]Eva[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name]. But then I think about [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Ava[/name] and I love the alliteration with [name]Gabriella[/name] [name]Grace[/name], I like how the two middles are old-Hollywood glamorous, I can totally picture my baby named [name]Annabel[/name] wearing this adorable purple flower headband thing I already bought for her LOL, and the name [name]Annabel[/name] just seems more like something I’d choose (although that’s probably because I basically DID already choose it when I named [name]Gabriella[/name]!). It just seems to fit a baby (and basically a girl) so well, that I feel like it’s really easy to picture my babe as an [name]Annabel[/name] (plus, I don’t know any Annabels to picture instead!). I also feel nervous about [name]Eva[/name] b/c it’s a new name on the table for us, and I’m freaking out here trying to consider a new name when we only have 3 weeks left till my due date.

But then, I hear from my friend [name]Anne[/name] or listen to my annoying co-worker complain about her annoying step-daughter named [name]Anna[/name] all day, or when I’m at my mom’s and I’m calling out to [name]Bella[/name], her puppy, I think what a relief it would be to not have to worry about all that stuff if I didn’t have a daughter named [name]Annabel[/name]. I think image is part of the thing too, with [name]Eva[/name]…[name]Amanda[/name] mentioned this, and I totally agree: I think I mentioned in my last thread too that I feel like [name]Eva[/name] is harder to picture on a little girl because it is so grown-up, and I also feel like an [name]Eva[/name] would be mischievous LOL! I don’t need two little trouble makers on my hands. Oh well, I think all kids are trouble-makers probably, anyway.

So, I don’t know if I’ll be able to make a decision before she’s born…and horrifyingly enough, I may have to wait a few days to see what suits her! Terrible. Ok well I still want to see all your votes and comments, so don’t let my indecision stop you! I really appreciate everyone’s thoughts and consideration, and I want to apologize again for being such an indecisive and picky pain in the ass!

[name]Eva[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name] is perfect next to [name]Gabriella[/name] [name]Grace[/name]! Infact I think I suggest [name]Eva[/name] to you a long time ago! [name]Eva[/name] is beautiful, slightly exotic yet familiar, and very sophisticated (just like [name]Gabriella[/name]). [name]Eva[/name] can be anyone from a newborn baby to someones grandma, and [name]Evie[/name] makes an adorable nn for a little girl. Honestly, you cant do better!

Okay, in attempt to let you see some young girls named [name]Eva[/name], I have scoured the internet looking for pictures! It’s a little odd that so many people seem to post their kids’ pictures with names online, but at least it makes this sort of thing possible, right? Anyway, let’s see the little [name]Eva[/name]'s, shall we?

[name]Little[/name] blond [name]Eva[/name] lives in [name]Ireland[/name] and is about two years old:

This baby [name]Eva[/name], at four months, comes to us courtesy of Canfield [name]Jenkins[/name] Photography:

Okay, forgive me if this is weird, but I just wanted to show you some baby [name]Eva[/name]'s.

[name]Lauren[/name]

[name]Hi[/name] [name]Erica[/name],

[name]Just[/name] wanted to say I do love [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Ava[/name] and if you’ve become more attached to this name than you’ve let on, despite your issues with [name]Anna[/name] and [name]Bella[/name] etc, then totally use it! I don’t think it’s too close to [name]Gabriella[/name] at all and I stand by that, the main reason I went with [name]Eva[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name] is because I wasn’t sure you could ever get over your issues with [name]Annabel[/name]. But if you can, then great! It would make a fantastic sister name for [name]Gaby[/name]

Oh and I don’t think it’s terrible at all to choose a name a few days after she’s born, that seems to be the norm in my family! My mum had a c-section with my little sister so we discussed and decided her name during the 5 days she stayed in hospital. Very little talk had gone on about names leading up to the birth but my mum’s front runner was [name]Bridie[/name] and everyone else liked [name]Caitlyn[/name]. After meeting her my mum decided she was definitely not a [name]Bridie[/name] and so she became [name]Caitlyn[/name]. She was born on the 24th and I remember her name wasn’t decided until the 27th because we made the final decision whilst writing my grandmother’s birthday card out! I think it went along the lines of, so what are we signing her name as?! Lol.

So although it may not be what you did last time, I think it’s absolutely fine to take [name]Annabel[/name], [name]Eva[/name] and [name]Vivienne[/name] to the hospital and you and [name]Brent[/name] can decide when you get some quiet time alone with your new baby, which name actually looks and feels right on her

[name]Lemon[/name], I love the second set of pictures you posted of little [name]Eva[/name]'s! [name]Erica[/name], I can definitely see [name]Eva[/name] as a baby, a toddler, and as an adult! I do know one little [name]Eva[/name] who is 8 years old, and she is adorable, with light blond, curly hair.
Whatever happens, you have a great list of names to choose from: [name]Annabel[/name], [name]Vivienne[/name] or [name]Eva[/name]!

Omg [name]Lauren[/name], you are so sweet!!! Thank you for the baby pics, I don’t think it’s weird at all. It does actually help a lot, and especially since the baby in the second picture bears quite a resemblance to [name]Gaby[/name] when she was a baby, it makes it even easier. It seems like it is getting more “familiar” to imagine [name]Eva[/name] as a name for our daughter. It still is disappointing though, [name]Marissa[/name] sent me a text last night and was all…not enthused about [name]Eva[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name] LOL! Oh well. :frowning: I know we can’t please everyone. It just is nice to have the, “ohhh that’s such a cute name!!” reaction whenever you tell someone what you’re thinking!

Speaking of [name]Marissa[/name], and just out of curiosity, does anyone else think [name]Eva[/name] doesn’t flow well with our last name? It’s Kutzner, pronounced like CUTS-ner (or rhyming with klutz). [name]Marissa[/name] thinks it sounds “choppy” or not flow-y. What do you guys think? I don’t think it sounds any weirder than any other name with our last name!

Thanks again.
