Hello - this is actually for me. [name]Jennifer[/name] is my first name (70s baby). My last name rhymes with [name]Lee[/name]. My mom wanted to name me [name]Vanessa[/name], my dad won with [name]Jennifer[/name], but it’s never sat right with me from day one. I experimented with [name]Vanessa[/name] and [name]Genevieve[/name] in my tumultuous teens, but neither really stuck. I’m ready to have another go at it. It’s just time.
Preferences:
Matches my last name - so no more ie/y names (like [name]Jenny[/name])
Three syllables seems to flow the best with my last name, but nothing to convoluted
Close to the feel of [name]Jenny[/name] or [name]Jennifer[/name].
Not a made up name - has meaning or history to it.
[name]Jenika[/name] - I like this one alot - I could still go by [name]Jenny[/name] as necessary, which will be convenient (less confusing for people). And it flows with the last name. However, I’m not a huge fan of that hard K.
[name]Jenica[/name] - Is nice, but I don’t like that it’s just a mashed-together name of [name]Jessica[/name] + [name]Jennifer[/name].
[name]Genevieve[/name]/[name]Guinevere[/name] - Maybe I should revisit these again?
[name]Gemma[/name] - I really like too - but with two syllables I’m not sure if it really flows with my last name.
Other names that are possibilities: [name]Gillian[/name], [name]Gianna[/name], [name]Lucia[/name]
In general, I like Italian/Romantic names: [name]Amelia[/name], [name]Lavinia[/name], [name]Lucinda[/name], [name]Gabriela[/name], [name]Lavinia[/name], [name]Luciana[/name], [name]Helena[/name].
[name]Jenika[/name] - does this have a history different from [name]Jenica[/name]'s? If you went with either, [name]Jenica[/name] (or maybe [name]Jennica[/name]) is the spelling people would guess.
I was going to suggest [name]Guinevere[/name] - takes the V from [name]Vanessa[/name] and the history of [name]Jennifer[/name]. Also in that family with [name]Genevieve[/name] are [name]Geneva[/name] and [name]Genevra[/name].
[name]Juniper[/name] comes to mind too.
I think 2 syllable names flow fine with short last names. (i.e. [name]Gemma[/name]).
There’s [name]Virginia[/name] or [name]Ginger[/name] nn [name]Ginny[/name]. I’m a little confused because you seemed to want to avoid nicknames ending with ee sounds but then were also interested in keeping [name]Jenny[/name] as an option?
[name]Gillian[/name] makes me think of [name]Julianne[/name] or [name]Juliana[/name].
[name]Gianna[/name] and [name]Lucia[/name] make me think of [name]Giada[/name], [name]Junia[/name], [name]Julia[/name], [name]Giovanna[/name].
[name]Jen[/name] and [name]Jenny[/name] were traditionally nicknames for [name]Joan[/name] before [name]Jennifer[/name] was popular, I think. [name]Joan[/name] is probably to short for you, but maybe [name]Johanna[/name]?
[name]How[/name] about [name]Jenna[/name]? I love [name]Genevieve[/name] and you could still be [name]Jenna[/name] or [name]Jenny[/name] with that, maybe even spelling it [name]Jenevieve[/name] or Jenavieve (although Im not so sure!)
Good luck,
[name]Ellie[/name] xx
These are great! Thank you! Okay, [name]Jenica[/name]/[name]Jenika[/name] is out.
[name]Gemma[/name], [name]Geneva[/name], and [name]Genevieve[/name] are on the top of the list as of now. I really like the idea of combining the feels of a [name]Vanessa[/name] and [name]Jennifer[/name]!
[name]Geneva[/name] is a great name! These may be more of a stretch…
[name]Julianne[/name]/[name]Julianna[/name]
[name]Virginia[/name] (You have the jen/gin sound still, with the V sound of [name]Vanessa[/name]. You could still go by nn [name]Ginny[/name])
