we’re trying to find proper English names for the middle spot (like we did with [name]Marian[/name] for Roo), and it suddenly dawned on me, can you find anything more tied to an English childhood than [name]Peter[/name]? First of all there’s [name]Peter[/name] [name]Pan[/name]; every single English child has grown up reading about this little urchin. The books are gorgeous, the Disney version is adorable, and I really love Finding Neverland. [name]Kate[/name] [name]Bush[/name] has a gorgeous song called In Search of [name]Peter[/name] [name]Pan[/name] which is such a childhood song for me, and another called Oh [name]England[/name] My Lionheart where she mentions him again. There’s [name]Peter[/name] Pevensie, High [name]King[/name] of [name]Narnia[/name]; brave, noble, just and dashing. And let’s not forget adorable [name]Peter[/name] Rabbit from [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Potter[/name]'s books.
There is also [name]Peter[/name] [name]Piper[/name], who picked a peck of pickled peppers. I think [name]Peter[/name] is the ultimate nursery rhyme/storybook name, and its whimsical associations are what landed it on my list a few years ago. I don’t know where it ranks in the UK, but it is surprisingly uncommon in the US (#205 and falling, which is very low for a Bible name; I’ve only met two Peters in my entire life), so I consider the name an unexpected choice that would grab attention. I like it. A lot.
My brother is best friends with a very nice boy named [name]Peter[/name]. I think it’s a great idea for a middle name Solid and, like you said, well used in English literature. It definitely feels like a ‘forgotten’ boys name. Though there are probably loads of them out there, I’ve only met three: my uncle, my brother’s friend and my uni friend’s little baby.
I agree with ren! Although I do think of [name]Peter[/name] as a common name (mostly in middle-aged men), I can only think of two [name]Peter[/name]'s I know personally - my brother’s best friend (he is almost 12) and my uncle [name]Peter[/name] (whose first name is [name]Keith[/name], after his dad, hence he goes by his middle of [name]Peter[/name]).
I love [name]Peter[/name]. It’s my brother’s middle name. Growing up, he and I would call each other [name]Pete[/name] and Vie (“vee” from [name]Vanessa[/name], my middle) as our special, only-for-each-other nicknames. [name]Peter[/name] never fails to make me sentimental, and both [name]Peter[/name] and [name]Petra[/name] are under consideration for my next kiddo.
Anyway, [name]Peter[/name] is a lovely classic, one that retains some youthfulness and a bit of whimsy due to its associations. It’s a great match with [name]Marian[/name].
We love [name]Peter[/name]! First of all, I just love it in general. [name]Peter[/name] was one of my first favorite boys’ names–I remember swooning over it in high school. I used to imagine all the most attractive guys had to be named [name]Peter[/name], lol. But I think [name]Peter[/name] is great for the criteria you’re looking for–such fun literary associations (och, I can just see one of my boys pretending to be High [name]King[/name] [name]Peter[/name], bossing his sisters around!), and it has that same “normal” feel that [name]Marian[/name] does. I think it’s fab, really.
I’m in the minority here in that I know tons of Peters. At least six…it’s a very popular name in the circles I grew up in (conservative Southern Baptists), so I find it far more traditional and common than [name]Marian[/name]. [name]Robin[/name] does come out slightly ahead for me, as I find it to be more unique and fresh. That being said, [name]Peter[/name] [name]Pan[/name] is the loveliest namesake a child could ever have! Did you see the movie adaptation with [name]Jason[/name] Isaacs and [name]Jeremy[/name] Sumpter? [name]Le[/name] swoon! The [name]Narnia[/name] and [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Potter[/name] connections are also major points in [name]Peter[/name]'s favor…so really, it’s up to you, and I just spent a paragraph giving no helpful input whatsoever
Yes to [name]Peter[/name]! It does feel more traditional than [name]Marian[/name], but the references are just too precious. Plus, it’ll be a middle name and there in case he wants to use a more familiar moniker.
Also, don’t forget about [name]Peter[/name] and the [name]Wolf[/name]!
Of course I like [name]Peter[/name]! It’s one of the names I love that is hardly used anymore. [name]Pete[/name] goes great with [name]Marian[/name] and sounds “normal” enough to balance out distinctive first choice. Beyond the Peters you mentioned, it reminds me of [name]Bruno[/name] [name]Mars[/name] ([name]Peter[/name] is his real name) and he is so dashing and gentleman-ish!

Shockingly I like [name]Peter[/name] for you! I think it compliments [name]Aphrodite[/name]'s middle name quite well. And you have amazing first names. I think it’s the ultimate package. Go for it!
[name]Peter[/name] is a great, strong name with a lot going for it. If we didn’t have a bad family connection by that name, it would have been high on my list. I have a friend with a 4 year-old named [name]Peter[/name] and he is a sweetheart.
