I’m sure a lot of us are always looking for new names to love, and I love hearing why I should love a name So here’s a place for you to sell a name to the Berries!
I’ll start: Maud
Maud’s got the simple beauty of Anne or Jane, but there’s something so elegant about her. Without an e at the end, Maud feels sophisticated and buttoned up, but she’s still got a playful spark. Plus, the nickname Maudie is just the sweetest
[name_u]Vision[/name_u] is a star of a name. She’s a showstopper during roll call, and she’s got a a take-note sort of air about her. Starting off with a sharp V, [name_u]Vision[/name_u] is a punchy flame! References upon references are a fun way that [name_u]Vision[/name_u] works for any personality. The word ‘vision’ has a great many dictionary definitions, to start, and the name is featured in hymnals and [name_u]Marvel[/name_u] comics—versatility at its best!
[name_f]Beulah[/name_f] is a Hebrew and Biblical beauty with such a charm to her. With nicknames from [name_u]Billie[/name_u] and [name_f]Bebe[/name_f] to [name_f]Belle[/name_f] and [name_f]Bella[/name_f], she can fit a casual sort, a spiritual one, or anybody who bears her! She’s a sprightly mix of familiar name-sounds and some unique to her that feel so fresh.
For girls, I have to promote the lovely Atticus. She’s so spunky, and she has nicknames for any style. There’s Atti/Addie, Kit, and Kitty and there is of course the lovely literary reference. She’s certainly unique, but her similarity to other names such as Adeline, Addison, and Addalyn makes her seem so much more accessible.
For boys, Dacre deserves so much more love. He has a country feel, which seems to be popular at the moment, he is similar to trendy names like Declan and Deacon, and he has pop culture references through the actor by the same name. Dacre is perfect if you like trendier names, but he still stays unique if you like names that don’t get used very often (only 11 babies named Dacre in the US in 2021).
[name_f]Forsythia[/name_f] is a beautiful, multi-syllabic -a ending female name in the spirit of [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], [name_f]Isadora[/name_f], [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]. It is romantic and old-fashioned.
Unlike many such names though, it is unique.
Like many such names, it leads to a ton of great nicknames. A no-nonsense girl or woman could go by [name_f]Flo[/name_f]. Someone who wanted an easier name could go by [name_f]Flora[/name_f]. [name_u]An[/name_u] old-fashioned person with a love for nicknames could go by [name_f]Florrie[/name_f] or [name_f]Flossie[/name_f]. A different take could be the Latina [name_f]Flor[/name_f] or the unusual yet melodic Sythia. A non-binary surname of great beauty is [name_u]Forsythe[/name_u].
[name_f]Forsythia[/name_f] is also a beautiful yellow vine/shrub, a harbinger of spring.
I’m going to promote [name_f]Leandra[/name_f] today! It has a brave-hearted meaning (like a lion) and to me, it feels like it manages to be a mix of warrior girl and Instagram-ready. It has ties to mythology and literature via its male counterpart and feels distinctive, while also fitting in with the likes of [name_f]Leah[/name_f], [name_f]Leona[/name_f], [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] etc. It has versatile nickname possibility too: [name_f]Lea[/name_f], [name_u]Lee[/name_u], [name_f]Leela[/name_f], [name_u]Landry[/name_u], [name_u]Lannie[/name_u], [name_f]Andie[/name_f], [name_f]Lana[/name_f], [name_f]Andra[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_u]Leo[/name_u]. I know it might not be for everyone but I love it
I love the name [name_u]Robert[/name_u]. I like the warm strong r beginning and the decisiveness of the final letter t.
It is solid and substantial and has great nicknames. The jocular [name_m]Bob[/name_m], the appealing [name_m]Rob[/name_m], the modern-looking [name_m]Robb[/name_m], the nature name [name_u]Robin[/name_u], the charming [name_u]Robbie[/name_u], and Latinx [name_m]Beto[/name_m] or Betito.
She’s beautiful in a wild way, starry skies and rolling rivers and the way the wind whistles through the trees. Sweet [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f], nicknamed [name_u]Ari[/name_u], Tem, [name_f]Missy[/name_f], [name_f]Tia[/name_f], or [name_f]Mia[/name_f], is a wonder of a girl, full of energy but with a mysterious air about her.
daniel is just such a brilliant, versatile name. i love talking about names i hated but now absolutely adore, and daniel is one of those! one of the first appeals for me was after reading little men with the character of daniel “dan” kean and his story was just so heartwarming. i love that this name is more usable nowadays than laurie on a boy, as laurie is more perceived for lauren/laura nowadays. danny makes for such a sweet nickname, and dan is pleasant as well. it’s a masculine, yet soft sounding name, very well to age, and just AMAZING. i love daniel.
Today I’d like to promote the very underrated [name_m]Marco[/name_m]
He’s got the charm of [name_f]Margo[/name_f] & [name_u]Marlo[/name_u], but there’s something so distinctive about him, with the snappy c at the end. He’s fun & free, but still grounded and strong. [name_f]Imagine[/name_f] a little [name_m]Marco[/name_m] “Mars”
I’m going to promote [name_f]Betsy[/name_f]! In my opinion it is the best [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nn out there, it’s spunky, sweet, fun, and has so many great historical and literary namesakes. It’s also great because it has a little more distance from [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], so if the full form isn’t your thing it can totally stand alone! So many other [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nn’s are on the rise, so why not [name_f]Betsy[/name_f]?
I see a lot of love for [name_f]Finja[/name_f] on here, but very little for the similar (and maybe even lovelier ) [name_f]Fenja[/name_f]! She’s got such a sweet, artsy vibe, and the j adds a bit of punch — and nickname [name_u]Fen[/name_u] is adorable. [name_f]Fenja[/name_f] feels like a cross between [name_f]Lilja[/name_f] & [name_f]Fenella[/name_f], so I’d recommend her to lovers of those names.
[name_f]Fenja[/name_f] is… watercolor sunsets, a breath of winter, licorice candy, days where the sky can’t choose between storm & sun, mist dusting the peak of a mountain, and the colors green & gold
today, i would like to pitch christabel for everyone
christabel has the soft sound of isobel mixed with the punchy sound of christina rolled together into a perfect ball of light. it also has a great namesake (the prominent suffragette christabel pankhurst) and loads of nickname options including bel, chris, christa and many more! with isobel/isabel being so high in the charts, christabel is the perfect option for those who love isobel but are looking for something a little more obscure!
It is old-fashioned, with the rollicking four syllables and -a ending so many of us love.
And yet, it is not tired as [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] or [name_f]Annabella[/name_f] or [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]. so many Bellas, so much [name_u]Twilight[/name_u].
I love minty refreshing names and [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] even has the word mint in it, such a fresh, pleasant word.
Today, I’d like to shine a spotlight on [name_f]Kate[/name_f]!
She’s only one syllable, but packs elegance, class and punch all in one. She can fit a vast variety of personalities, and she can work as a stand-alone or as a nickname for [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] or [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f]! [name_f]Kate[/name_f] feels sensible, kind and down-to earth as well as having the sweet but spunky nickname [name_f]Katie[/name_f]!
Overall, I love [name_f]Kate[/name_f], especially as a stand-alone. Some may think her boring, but I find her versatility, sound, look & simplicity to be very refreshing!
