We have decided (about 99.9% sure) on [name]Felix[/name] if we have boy with the possibility of [name]Leander[/name] as the first middle.
For a girl we are between [name]Phoebe[/name] and [name]Cleo[/name] with [name]Matilda[/name] a contender for the first middle.
My daughter’s second middle [name]Amelia[/name] is the name of my husbands late grandmother, so if this baby is a boy i’d like a name to honour my grandfather who passed away earlier this year. I’ll be straight up and say this is still a really emotional topic for me, i’ve never experienced loss and grief this close to home before. Also, the due date only a few days before the 1st anniversary of his death so I think honouring in some capacity would be really appropriate.
I should clarify that my grandfather was Scottish, but not that Scottish if you understand. He had a scottish accent, loved whiskey but refused to wear a kilt or watch the highland games
Basically translated into names this means no to [name]Hamish[/name], [name]Dougal[/name], [name]Morag[/name] and other super scottish names. I’m looking for something soft and beautiful when said in a gentle scottish lilt. Place names would be okay - I quite like Argyll and [name]Iona[/name].
I don’t want to use his name, for me personally its too much. But he chose both my mum and my aunty’s names and they are both beautiful scottish names so i thought that would be a nice way to go.
Scottish names for boys (that aren’t too Scottish) - i like it. Below is a short list of what I came up with. [name]Hope[/name] it helps!
[name]Aiden[/name] (Anglican version of [name]Aodhan[/name])
[name]Ainsley[/name]
[name]Alasdair[/name]/[name]Alastair[/name]
[name]Cailean[/name]
[name]Eoin[/name] (prounced O-in is the Irish/Scottish version of [name]Owen[/name])
[name]Fife[/name]
[name]Jamie[/name]
Otherwise if you remember your grandfathers favorite scotch you could choose a place name like [name]Islay[/name] that reflects where its from or if it’s JWB [name]Johnny[/name] could be great too.
I keep finding myself drawn to names with long ‘A’ sounds like in [name]Graham[/name] or [name]Grant[/name].
I think either one of those would sound great with [name]Felix[/name] [name]Leander[/name]! (It would really just depend on your preference of one over the other since they are so similar). I fear that a lot of my other Scottish choices wouldn’t be a good overall fit either starting with F or L, but I am dying to see the suggestions you get! Good luck! =]
I think a single-syllable third name would work best with [name]Felix[/name] [name]Leander[/name]. (Contrarily, for a simultaneous Scottish and mythological feel, you could select [name]Felix[/name] [name]Evander[/name]).
