A sibling for Basil

I really want a name similar to [name_m]Basil[/name_m] (my son’s name), but I can’t use [name_u]River[/name_u] or [name_u]Robin[/name_u]. The only name I’ve found so far is [name_f]Willow[/name_f] for a girl. No boy names have stuck with me. I’ve read through what feels like a million baby name lists and I’m feeling a little burnt out. Can anyone give me some suggestions?
(boy and girl names, we don’t know the gender)
Thank you in advance

To me [name_m]Basil[/name_m] rings pure vintage and very British

I named [name_m]Basil[/name_m] with the herb in mind but I love that aspect too. [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] and [name_m]Liam[/name_m] (also very British) are two of my favorite names, but they’re a little too common for me.

I apologize if these are totally not your taste.

I just have to say I LOVE the name Basil. Do you pronounce it like the herb (rhymes with hazel) or like bazzle? Basil (pronounced like the herb, nickname Bay) is a big guilty pleasure name of mine.

Francis/Frances would be a cute brother or sister name for Basil.

I pronounce his name [name_u]Bay[/name_u]-zul like the herb. We haven’t shortened it to a nickname, though my mother does try to push “[name_m]Baz[/name_m]” as a nickname. I wouldn’t mind [name_f]Frances[/name_f], but oddly enough that’s my sister’s dog’s name haha.
I love [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], [name_u]Arden[/name_u], [name_m]Milo[/name_m], and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m].

To me [name_m]Basil[/name_m] rings pure vintage and quite British, but it sounds like maybe you like it more for the nature association? Either way it’s a unique choice and [name_m]Baz[/name_m] is a fun nickname for a boy.

Here are a few names I thought might flow with the gentle, dignified sound and/or natural aura of [name_m]Basil[/name_m].

[name_u]Alden[/name_u]… “old friend” - reminds me of the forest, and a brother is a forever friend
[name_m]Rune[/name_m]…as an ancient alternative to [name_u]Robin[/name_u] or [name_u]River[/name_u]
Ender…“very rare”
[name_u]Ellery[/name_u]…Old English for alder tree
Fenn…marsh, wetlands
[name_m]Ford[/name_m]…to cross over a river
[name_u]Florian[/name_u]…flower
[name_u]Grove[/name_u]…orchard, a small stand of trees
[name_m]Hadden[/name_m]…a hill covered with heather
[name_m]Hart[/name_m]…red deer stag
[name_m]Heath[/name_m]…wide open landscape covered in wild grasses
[name_u]Perrin[/name_u]…rock
[name_u]Ridley[/name_u]…a clearing in the woods
[name_u]Sterling[/name_u]…high quality silver
[name_u]Shaw[/name_u]…a small wooded thicket

I’d like to second @peanut’s suggestion of [name_m]Heath[/name_m] — [name_m]Basil[/name_m] and [name_m]Heath[/name_m] make a smart pair!

[name_u]Winter[/name_u]

I like [name_m]Basil[/name_m] for its vintage feel, as well as the nature name feel. I like both kinds of names and [name_m]Basil[/name_m] was perfect because it is both. I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Sterling[/name_u] and I’m definitely considering [name_u]Alden[/name_u]. [name_m]Heath[/name_m] does sound good with [name_m]Basil[/name_m] but I don’t think it’s quite what I’m looking for.
Thank you all for your suggestions so far ”

I love the name [name_m]Basil[/name_m], although usually I pronounce it Bazzle. Immediately I thought of [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], [name_m]Callum[/name_m], [name_m]Rupert[/name_m], [name_m]Jasper[/name_m], [name_m]Tobias[/name_m], [name_m]Willem[/name_m], [name_m]Forest[/name_m] (just saw a baby announcement for [name_m]Willem[/name_m] [name_m]Forrest[/name_m] and just completely fell in love) and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] for you, they are some of my all time favorite boy names as I love nature names just as much as I love vintage names too. Good luck!
