We recently found out we’re expecting so we won’t know for a while if it’s a boy or a girl. We have a 3 year old named [name]Cecilia[/name] [name]Marna[/name] ([name]Marna[/name] is my mom’s name) and a 1 year old named [name]Elena[/name] [name]Rose[/name]. Our last name is Italian starts with a T and ends with an O and sounds similar to Treviso.
For a girl I think I like [name]Nora[/name], possibly [name]Nora[/name] [name]Beth[/name]? I’d like to keep the middle name simple since the last name is a bit of a mouthful.
For a boy I’m much more lost. One front-runner is [name]Dario[/name] (DARE-ee-oh) which is my husband’s grandfather’s name (still living). Maybe [name]Dario[/name] [name]James[/name]. However, one person told me they thought it was “too Italian”. Is it? Does that matter? Or should we try something more simple like [name]William[/name]? Maybe that’s too boring?
I’m totally open to all sugestions and feedback. Thanks!
Great lists. Thank you! Many of those I have considered but there are many more to ponder now. [name]Silvia[/name] may be a front runner girl name but I wonder, is it old-lady-cool or just old-lady? Too much associated with the cartoon cat lady? Is is better than [name]Nora[/name]? [name]Adela[/name] is another nice one.
As for boy names [name]Isaac[/name] is a good one I hadn’t thought about. I don’t want the nickname [name]Zack[/name] though because there are just too many Zacks around. Are [name]Isaac[/name] and [name]Zack[/name] inseperable?
I think if we were to go for an overtly Italian boy name we would most likely stick with [name]Dario[/name] for it’s strong family connection. Otherwise we would go in a totally different direction.
I love [name]Silvia[/name] with [name]Cecilia[/name] and [name]Elena[/name]. And with [name]Dario[/name] if you ever have a boy. [name]Louisa[/name]/[name]Luisa[/name] is my other favorite choice for you.
I love [name]Nora[/name], but to me, it sounds Irish. [name]Cecilia[/name] and [name]Elena[/name] sound like great Italian names. [name]Do[/name] you pronounce [name]Elena[/name] as [name]Lena[/name] or Ee-lena? I’ve heard both.
Here’s some Italian sounding names that spring to mind:
[name]Elena[/name] is pronounced Eh-[name]LAY[/name]-na. I like [name]Anton[/name]. I hadn’t thought of that one before. I love [name]Enzo[/name] but that one was just taken by another baby in the family. A lot of those wonderful grl names are already taken as wel. [name]Francesca[/name] is nice though and still available. I like [name]Lucia[/name] too but I think there may be a lot of pronunciation issues with it. For example I like [name]Lu[/name]-SEE-ah and a lot f people (correctly for Italian) pronounce it lu-CHEE-a which I don’t really like. Lots to think about!
I love [name]Dario[/name] [name]James[/name] with [name]Cecilia[/name] and [name]Elena[/name]. I dont think it is too Italian, I’m not even sure if thats possible lol. With an Italian last name I think [name]Dario[/name] would sound perfect.
As for girls names I think [name]Nora[/name] could work.
