For a girl, I want to find another name that is equally classic and pretty yet understated, and not too popular. For a boy, I want something with the same vibe, but I don’t love any of the classics like [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], etc, but also don’t want something too trendy. Is there a boy equivalent of the “[name_f]Claire[/name_f]” vibe?? Sophisticated and classic yet not too stuffy? Lol.
For girls, I like the idea of sticking with a one-syllable name, so [name_f]Elle[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] leaped out at me from your list. [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] is, of course, also a one-syllable name, but I feel like she is a bit too stuffy compared to the classic strength of [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f].
Other one-syllable names that feel similarly to me:
[name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Nell[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Bette[/name_f]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Belle[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwen[/name_f]
[name_u]Anne[/name_u]
[name_u]Leigh[/name_u]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]
Suggestions of more than one syllable:
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f]
For the boys’ names, I think you could keep the one-syllable theme if you wanted, but it sounds just as fine either way. I like [name_u]Owen[/name_u], [name_u]Finn[/name_u], and [name_u]Liam[/name_u] best for your existing sibset. I can see what you mean about wanting a timeless classic, but not liking the traditional names in that category - your boys’ choices are definitely more “modern classic,” if that makes sense.
I like [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] from your girls list and [name_u]Owen[/name_u] from your boys list, they sound perfect with [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f]!
I know these aren’t all one syllable names…
[name_f]Alicia[/name_f]
[name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Dawn[/name_f]
[name_f]Anna[/name_f]
[name_u]Maria[/name_u]
[name_f]Therese[/name_f]
Will
[name_m]Luke[/name_m]
[name_m]Ben[/name_m]
[name_m]Adam[/name_m]
[name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
[name_u]Charlie[/name_u]
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
[name_m]Jeremy[/name_m]
From your list I really like with [name_f]Claire[/name_f] & [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Elle[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
…
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m]
[name_m]Ethan[/name_m]
[name_u]Finn[/name_u]
I love [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f]! I think you should stick to one syllable if possible—but I am particularly into sibling names following the “rules” of what the family has established without being too matchy matchy. I love [name_f]Grace[/name_f] for a girl because it’s the same level of classic As [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and doesn’t sound too much like either of them. On your list I also love [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f]! For a boy I love [name_m]Luke[/name_m] or [name_m]Jack[/name_m]!
For girls, I love [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] - it fits perfectly! [name_f]My[/name_f] other suggestions would be [name_f]Sybil[/name_f], [name_f]Lilla[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and [name_f]Emily[/name_f].
For boys, what about [name_m]Rufus[/name_m], [name_m]Rupert[/name_m], [name_m]Felix[/name_m], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_m]Louis[/name_m]… I also LOVE [name_m]Peter[/name_m] with [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f].
Top choices:
[name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_m]Peter[/name_m]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
We have similar taste in names so here are my kids names:
Graham Edward
Claire Addison
Blake Evelyn
and possibly Jane or Grace Vivian for my current pregnancy.
If we’d had another boy he would have been Ford William. I also love Kate, Lillian, Reese, and Miles.
I like [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] from your list. I think I prefer a name with more syllables, but either way works.
Alice
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f] (actually I really like this, so maybe I’m wrong about syllables)
[name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_u]Louise[/name_u]
[name_m]Ethan[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] is great!
I don’t think [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_u]Anne[/name_u] are too similar, and if [name_f]Diana[/name_f] and [name_u]Anne[/name_u] were siblings they might be too close but for parent and child I don’t think they are.
I think [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is so sweet though if you do go with that! [name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f], and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] are perfect Good luck!!!
