A Sibling for Declan

After a very long wait, we welcomed a son two years ago via adoption. His name is [name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]. His name is special to us partly because of it’s meaning (strong man of prayer) and partly because his biological grandma picked his name form a list we had. We are still very close to her and that piece of the story seems to strengthen the bond.

Two years later and we are hoping to grow our family again and follow a similiar pattern-- we have a list but the first family ultimately picks the name. While we wait, I am appeasing some of the baby fever by dreaming up sibling names. Please let me know your thoughts on the combos below and make recommendations. I like slightly unusual names and the meaning of names are very important to us.

[name_u]River[/name_u] [name_m]Allen[/name_m]-[name_u]River[/name_u] is really cool. It’s unique, but simple. Also, kind of like [name_m]Declan[/name_m], I feel like it’s a name that can work for a sensitive artist type or a spunky athlete. [name_m]Allen[/name_m] is not my favorite, but I’m guessing that it has a special meaning. I love [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]Elliott[/name_u].

[name_m]Joseph[/name_m] [name_m]Maddock[/name_m]-[name_m]Joseph[/name_m] is a strong handsome classic.

[name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_m]Xavier[/name_m]-I love [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]. It’s smart & sweet. [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] flows really well.

Actually, [name_f]Gerty[/name_f] may be my favorite. :slight_smile: . I don’t like [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] for a girl, but I’m guessing maybe it’s a family name.

I love [name_m]Crosby[/name_m] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], but I find the middle with [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] to be a bit long so I would mix it up to [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_u]Ryan[/name_u]. Both [name_m]Crosby[/name_m] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] hit the sweet spot of being slightly unusual, but strong and unique.

Thank you so much for your response. I was worried about the [name_m]Bill[/name_m] Cosby link to [name_m]Crosby[/name_m]. It has been such a favorite for us mostly because of [name_m]Bing[/name_m] [name_m]Crosby[/name_m], but it may have to go by the wayside. Bummer. I am also LOVING your suggestion of [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]. It is hands down the new combo for me. :slight_smile: I also like the suggestions of [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], [name_f]Bridget[/name_f], and [name_m]Nolan[/name_m].

I never think about mixing up my combos. It’s like I get so attached to the original that I forget I can swap them! I do like [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_u]Ryan[/name_u]. I was thinking of switching out for one of our mother’s names too. [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] or [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u]. I worry that are a little too simple though. Thank you so much for your fresh perspective!
