We have just found out that I’m pregnant, due in February 2014.
We have a three year old girl, [name]Isla[/name] [name]Harper[/name], and are scouting around for names already;)
We won’t be finding out the gender of the baby, so to go with [name]Isla[/name], we were thinking:
[name]Tobias[/name] [name]Jules[/name] or
[name]Norah[/name] [name]Adeline[/name]

I love both the names [name]Norah[/name] and [name]Adeline[/name]. There’s a bit of a stumbly glottal stop in [name]Norah[/name] [name]Adeline[/name] but it’s not overwhelming. I think the reverse works too, and is cute as a sibling to [name]Isla[/name]: [name]Adeline[/name] [name]Norah[/name].
I don’t hate the name [name]Tobias[/name], but it immediately makes me think of Arrested Development…especially with all of the buzz around the show this year. And while the character is hilarious, I’m not sure it’s an association you want to make. I like [name]Jules[/name] a lot.
[name]Just[/name] my two cents. And [name]Isla[/name] [name]Harper[/name] is a gorgeous name!!
I do prefer the spelling [name]Nora[/name] rather than [name]Norah[/name], but either way, I think it’s a gorgeous name. I think that [name]Tobias[/name] and [name]Isla[/name] kind of clash, since they both have the long ‘i’ sound, but it doesn’t exactly reduce it. I think either way, you can’t go wrong.
Fun [name]Story[/name] ~ I saw a girl named [name]Isla[/name], but it was spelled Iyeslah. And I always thought it was pronounced eye-lah, but they pronounced it eyes-lah. I’m not sure which it is, but the spelling was interesting, to say the least.
I love [name]Tobias[/name] and [name]Jules[/name], but not together. I think [name]Tobias[/name] [name]Jude[/name] would sound better. Not a fan of [name]Norah[/name] myself, but I think paired with [name]Adeline[/name] it sounds pretty and works well with [name]Isla[/name].
[name]Nora[/name] and [name]Isla[/name] make a good combo, but I would choose a different middle name, still starting with ‘A’… maybe [name]Nora[/name] [name]Adele[/name] or [name]Nora[/name] [name]Agnes[/name]?
I think [name]Tobias[/name] is a great match with [name]Isla[/name] and I like the name a lot! It stumble a bit with [name]Jules[/name].
What about [name]Tobias[/name] [name]Jude[/name] or [name]Tobias[/name] [name]Luke[/name] or [name]Tobias[/name] [name]Clement[/name]?
[name]Norah[/name] goes okay with [name]Isla[/name], but the A meeting with [name]Adeline[/name] isn’t the greatest I think.
What about [name]Adair[/name]? It has the same feel to me as [name]Isla[/name] and a similar background.
I agree with some of the comments above regarding Tobias-- I do think it’s hard to say with Isla. What about Julius or Julian as a fn instead? I also prefer Nora but would do Nora Delphine or Nora Felice to avoid the double A.

[name]Tobias[/name] [name]Jules[/name]: I like [name]Tobias[/name] but agree that it clashes with [name]Isla[/name]. If you were to call him [name]Toby[/name] most of the time [name]Isla[/name] and [name]Toby[/name] sound great!!
[name]Norah[/name] [name]Adeline[/name]: [name]Norah[/name] spelt like this looks wrong with [name]Isla[/name]. [name]Isla[/name] and [name]Nora[/name] look much better together. I am a huge fan of [name]Nora[/name] but in the end I think it is too similar to [name]Isla[/name].

[name]Jules[/name] is after his Favourite writer ([name]Jules[/name] [name]Verne[/name]), but I was also thinking [name]Tobias[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name] (middle to honor my grandfather). I think that has a much better flow. Another boys name I was looking at is [name]Charlie[/name]…our surname starts with Chu…thought it sounded kinda cute, but might also sound a little naff? Other girls we are considering are [name]Phoebe[/name] (husband doesn’t like much), [name]Annabel[/name], [name]Freya[/name], [name]Ginevra[/name] (N/N [name]Ginny[/name]-husband LOVES this, me, not so much). Any further thoughts? Thanks!

I agree that Ginerva is not the best, but as alternatives, what about [name]Minerva[/name] (nn [name]Minnie[/name]), [name]Geneva[/name] (you could still use [name]Ginny[/name]), or [name]Eve[/name]? Also, [name]Rose[/name] was a love of [name]Jules[/name] [name]Verne[/name]-- [name]Isla[/name] and [name]Rose[/name] work well together.
