[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone!
I’m posting for the first time because my partner and I are struggling to decide on a boys name for our little one, due in [name_u]June[/name_u] {unsure of sex but girl name is decided!}. We have one son already; [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] [name_m]Louis[/name_m] F-. I won’t post my last name but it ends in an ‘y’ with an ‘ee’ sound so you get the idea. With our first son, [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] was a name I heard once and it stuck, I knew that would be my sons name. [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] is his fathers name, and [name_m]Louis[/name_m] I had picked out years prior.
Our current name crushes are: [name_m]Atlas[/name_m], [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] and [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m]. We want another kind of unusual, but strong name that obviously goes well with [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]. The first middle name must be [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] (after my father) and I will happily accept suggestions for the second middle name as well. So, I was just wondering peoples thoughts on the three names I love, and any new suggestions.
Thank you in advance!
I think [name_m]Atlas[/name_m], [name_u]Indigo[/name_u], and [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] all go very well with [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]. First name suggestions:
[name_u]Blaise[/name_u]
[name_u]North[/name_u]
[name_m]Gatsby[/name_m]

[name_m]Truett[/name_m]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
[name_u]River[/name_u]
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m]
[name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] doesn’t go well with [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] in my opinion. It doesn’t sound as cool as the other names. I hear body.
[name_u]Indigo[/name_u] and [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] are awesome.
[name_f]Aris[/name_f]
[name_u]Everest[/name_u]

[name_u]Glasgow[/name_u]
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u]
Thanks for your suggestions ! Both sets of names are right up my alley
I’m glad to hear you both like the names I’m considering. [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] is creeping into the lead but I’m being put off by a few comments that it’s too feminine. I feel it’s definitely unisex and doesn’t sound overtly feminine to me when I say it. I also adore [name_f]Indy[/name_f]/[name_f]Indie[/name_f]/[name_f]Indi[/name_f] as a nickname.
Not a fan of atlas a and indigo feels more girl to me, so I’d go with bodhi. It’s a good name.
My initial suggestion would be [name_m]Griffin[/name_m], another mythological bird.
[name_u]Dallas[/name_u] [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] [name_m]Fox[/name_m]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] [name_m]Scott[/name_m]
[name_u]Monroe[/name_u] [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Ramsey[/name_m] [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]
I love [name_m]Atlas[/name_m].
Thanks for your input guys, greatly appreciated !
I adore [name_m]Fox[/name_m] as the second middle name! I have been trying to find one syllable names; [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] [name_m]Fox[/name_m] and [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] Wilde are my current favourite middle name combinations (I just used [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] for simplicity).
I also love [name_u]Dallas[/name_u] as a first name !
I am going to jump on the dog pile of people who love [name_m]Atlas[/name_m]. [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] and [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] make a great sibset. For personal reasons I do not like either [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] or [name_u]Indigo[/name_u].
To add my own suggestions…
If you like arboreal names…
[name_m]Hawthorn[/name_m] - Off beat, with a great name sake. [name_m]Hawthorn[/name_m] trees look like something out of a fairy tale. Added bonus is that you get the unexpected nn [name_m]Thorn[/name_m].
[name_m]Cyress[/name_m] - Again just a great name in general. [name_m]Cy[/name_m] as a nn is also awesome.
[name_u]Cedar[/name_u] - Probably my favorite of the tree names. With wonderful ties to mythology and tradition. This tree name would go wonderfully with [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u].
Color names
[name_u]Onyx[/name_u] - Like [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] it ends in an x which may make it too similar to some. But [name_u]Onyx[/name_u] is an unexpected and strong name.
[name_m]Albus[/name_m]- This name does have strong ties to [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m], that could be either a plus or minus in your book. But it’s a great off beat name.
[name_u]Cyan[/name_u] - Like [name_f]Cypress[/name_f] this gives you the great nick name of [name_m]Cy[/name_m]. [name_u]Cyan[/name_u] is a great color, and an awesome name for the bold!
If you want another animal name
[name_m]Hart[/name_m] - Another name for stag. A strong sweet name, though unfortunately it does rhyme with a certain bodily function.
[name_m]Leviathan[/name_m]- Hebrew for whale. It also shares it’s name with the legendary sea monster. [name_m]Levi[/name_m] as a nn is swoon worthy.
Place names
I am not a huge fan of place names unless that place holds a special meaning for you. But non the less here are my suggestions
[name_u]Hudson[/name_u] - [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] [name_u]Bay[/name_u], [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] [name_u]River[/name_u], in all a great place name!
[name_m]Dublin[/name_m] - A strong not over used place name that sounds wonderfully masculine.
[name_m]Lyon[/name_m] - A wonderful city. But it also gets points for being a homophone for the [name_m]French[/name_m] word for lion.
Good luck what ever you choose and congratulations!
I love all 3 names!
My favorite would be [name_u]Indigo[/name_u]. But they’re all great!
Thanks for your suggestions !
[name_u]Indigo[/name_u] has been scratched from our list sadly as my fiancé feels it is too feminine for a boy. He loves [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] and [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] is growing on him. He is very fussy; his only suggestion has been [name_u]Cloud[/name_u] which I don’t really love much at all. Cool name but not for me! I have also found some other names I love such as [name_m]Atticus[/name_m], [name_m]Bowie[/name_m], [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], [name_u]Henley[/name_u] and [name_u]Dexter[/name_u] but I don’t know if they go with [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] quite so well.
My list of possible middle names to go with [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] has grown to;
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m]/[name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] Wilde
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m]/[name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] [name_m]Hart[/name_m]
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m]/[name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] [name_m]Fox[/name_m]
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m]/[name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] [name_u]Kai[/name_u]
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m]/[name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] [name_m]Wolfe[/name_m]
Depending on the first name, the second middle name doesn’t always fit perfectly so I guess we’ll narrow it down a little later
I really appreciate everyone’s help !
[name_u]Cuba[/name_u] sprang instantly to mind
[name_m]Inigo[/name_m] is one of my favorite names. [name_m]Inigo[/name_m] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] is a famous British Architect. Inigo Jones - Wikipedia I do like this much better than [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] the color, but either way.
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m] is a great name, but I’m not so sure I like [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] as much.
[name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] is cool.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Inigo[/name_m] [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m]?
I really like [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] and love the nickname [name_f]Indy[/name_f]. I’m a midwife - recently had a client name their baby [name_f]Indy[/name_f]. Super cute. Maybe its just me and my circle, but though I love [name_m]Atlas[/name_m], I could not shake its association with “[name_m]Atlas[/name_m] Shrugged” and [name_u]Ayan[/name_u] [name_m]Rand[/name_m].
- [name_m]Atlas[/name_m]
- [name_u]Dallas[/name_u]
- [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m]
- [name_u]Indigo[/name_u]
I love both [name_m]Fox[/name_m] and Wilde as the 2nd middle name, with a slight preference to [name_m]Fox[/name_m]. I also like [name_m]Hart[/name_m], [name_m]Wolf[/name_m] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m].
boo, [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] is such a great name, with cool nicknames, too! besides, femininity isn’t a bad thing, even if the name was feminine- boys shouldn’t be afraid of being “like a girl”!
anyway, here are some more suggestions-
[name_u]Auberon[/name_u]
[name_u]Storm[/name_u] (like [name_u]Cloud[/name_u] )
[name_m]Rainier[/name_m]
Sunray- nn [name_u]Ray[/name_u]
[name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]
[name_m]Calloway[/name_m]
[name_m]Soren[/name_m]- sounds a bit like Soaring, which could either be a good or bad thing with [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]- you decide
[name_m]Asher[/name_m]- cool, and has the connection with phoenixes rising from ashes
[name_m]Collier[/name_m]- means “coal miner”, so another connection to flame (sort of?)
[name_u]Blaise[/name_u]- sounds like blaze
[name_m]Dashiell[/name_m]- not quite as out there, but contains “ash” and has the cool nickname “[name_u]Dash[/name_u]”
[name_u]Brinley[/name_u]- means “burnt meadow”
[name_m]Tanwyn[/name_m]- “white fire”
[name_m]Blanchard[/name_m]
[name_m]Axel[/name_m]
[name_m]Ransom[/name_m]
[name_m]Flash[/name_m]
[name_m]Diesel[/name_m]
[name_u]Harley[/name_u]
[name_m]Maverick[/name_m]
[name_m]Coleridge[/name_m]
[name_m]Calixto[/name_m]
[name_m]Talon[/name_m]- birds, like the phoenix, have talons
[name_m]Hawthorn[/name_m]/[name_m]Hawthorne[/name_m]- nn [name_m]Thorn[/name_m]
[name_m]Cashel[/name_m]
good luck!
Thanks for your suggestions and input everyone ! I have been reading and mulling over names the last two days. I’m sad [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] is apparently off the list; as someone said, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with using it as a name even if it’s used a little more as a girls name. The boys can take it back! Haha.
I am fairly set with ‘[name_m]Adrian[/name_m] Wilde’ as the middle names ([name_m]Adrian[/name_m] being the one set in stone as mentioned above, my father’s name) but we still haven’t gotten any further with the first name I’ve been randomly calling names out to see if they pass the playground test ! I love [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] for the meaning and being able to use [name_u]Bo[/name_u] as a nickname, but I think [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] is so striking. When I saw it for the first time I thought, woah, it sounds so strong. My mother didn’t like it because her only association is the book of maps, not the Greek titan so I feel like the cool factor was lost on her. I’m also not sure how it goes with [name_m]Adrian[/name_m]. I also really recently can’t stop thinking about the name ‘[name_m]Caspar[/name_m]’ but I’m not sure how well it goes with [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] as a sibling set, and also whether it’s on the same level as [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] and [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m].
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m] [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] Wilde.
[name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] Wilde.
[name_m]Caspar[/name_m] [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] Wilde.
If you had to choose between those names, which would it be?
I really appreciate your ongoing help guys!
