Here are some thoughts! [name]Hope[/name] they help! With the ones I don’t think fit…bear in mind that if I met them as siblings, I’d probably get over it quickly!
Favorites from your boys: [name]Colin[/name], [name]Grant[/name], [name]Miles[/name], [name]Quentin[/name]
Favorites from your girls: [name]Alice[/name], [name]Cecily[/name], [name]Daphne[/name], [name]Louisa[/name], [name]Lydia[/name], and possibly [name]Jane[/name] (see below).
All best : D.
[name]Anderson[/name] - Too [name]Anderson[/name] [name]Cooper[/name] and too surname-y to me. [name]Reid[/name] is a surname, I know, but it has more history as a given name, to me.
[name]Asher[/name] - A Biblical to me, so to me, never truly trendy, but it does feel much more of-the-moment than [name]Reid[/name], and also, it’s one of very few Biblical names you seem to like for boys, so that gives me pause.
[name]Beckett[/name] - This is a nice name but very tied to the playwright, the word bucket, the nn [name]Becky[/name], etc. [name]Just[/name] feels less grounded than [name]Reid[/name].
[name]Colin[/name] - A surprising first-name-y play to the Irishness of [name]Reid[/name] and [name]Rafferty[/name]! [name]LOVE[/name].
[name]Conner[/name] - I like it OK but see it and think “con” and [name]Connie[/name].
[name]Cooper[/name] - Does feel kind of trendy, and also change that c to a p. I think it’s an unfortunate rhyme.
[name]Grant[/name] - Nice! To me, this is like [name]Reid[/name], surname-y but grounded as a first name.
[name]Grey[/name] - trendier as a first name, but not as much as [name]Greyson[/name]. I like it a lot, but do think it’s a little “drab” in association. [name]Graham[/name] nn [name]Gray[/name]?
[name]Harrison[/name] - Too [name]Harrison[/name] [name]Ford[/name] and too classically surname-y for me. Also don’t love potential nn [name]Harry[/name]. Would be OK.
[name]Holden[/name] - [name]Way[/name] more literary with [name]Reid[/name]. Kind of humorous, like the sons’ names are telling you to go read Catcher in the [name]Rye[/name]. I just also don’t find that character very appealing. [name]Alden[/name] is all right.
[name]Hunter[/name] - Past its prime for me. Also kind of violent.
[name]Jonah[/name] - and the whale? I love it in a family where religious names are the taste, but feels odd next to [name]Reid[/name].
[name]Jude[/name] - I love this name, but it’s a lot of one-syllable, ends in d with [name]Reid[/name] if you care.
[name]Miles[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name]. Another first name that’s plausible as a surname. Also has some faintly Gaelic feeling, it’s more popular in those parts of the Anglosphere than here. Definitely feels preppy to me. [name]Love[/name] that it’s sort of a syllable-and-a-half, so you stick with short, but mix it up a bit.
[name]Milo[/name] - like it, but prefer it as a nn to [name]Miles[/name]
[name]Miller[/name] - I think of the beer, and I hear the girls’ name [name]Milla[/name].
[name]Parker[/name] - [name]Parker[/name] [name]Posey[/name]? [name]Sarah[/name] [name]Jessica[/name] [name]Parker[/name]? It’s OK but feels a little past its prime, and is associated with female celebrities enough that it feels weak next to [name]Reid[/name].
[name]Porter[/name] - I like this in theory, but it’s a very working class job, and that gives me pause, as does the fact that port’s an alcohol.
[name]Quentin[/name] - Feels very different from the others, but I think it’s a great name that works with [name]Reid[/name]! Definitely feels preppy to me.
[name]Spencer[/name] - feels a little bookish to me more than preppy. It’s OK.
[name]Walker[/name] - I like the sound of it, but it’s very [name]Texas[/name] [name]Ranger[/name] or [name]George[/name] H.W. [name]Bush[/name]. I mean, if you like those two associations, then it’s an OK choice, but I like some of the others better. [name]Walker[/name] [name]Texas[/name] [name]Ranger[/name] is hardly preppy.
[name]Alice[/name] - different from [name]Reid[/name], but in a good, balancing way. Earthier than [name]Reid[/name], but nicely so.
[name]Cecily[/name] - different from [name]Reid[/name], more elegant, but it works. They’re both lovely names.
[name]Daphne[/name] - I can’t put my finger on why, but I feel like it works.
[name]Felicity[/name] - I like this, but it sort of feels like two word names, and this is a lot more name. OK, not a fave.
[name]Frances[/name] - I like this name, it’s OK with [name]Reid[/name], but it kind of sounds like [name]Reid[/name] and [name]Francis[/name]. With [name]Reid[/name], I think you want something a little more clearly feminine. Spelling [name]Frances[/name] is, but the sound isn’t always. Especially if she gets nn’d [name]Frank[/name] or [name]Frankie[/name].
[name]Georgiana[/name] - I like this name pretty well, but it’s a mouthful next to [name]Reid[/name]. [name]Georgia[/name] would be better a bit, although then it’s kind of two word names.
[name]Hazel[/name] - to me, this is too different. [name]Hazel[/name] is waaaaay more down to earth than [name]Reid[/name]. [name]Alice[/name] to a stronger degree. Also, it’s two plant words to my ears.
[name]Helena[/name] - I love this name, but she’s quite overly-elegant next to [name]Reid[/name]. The anti-[name]Hazel[/name]. [name]Cecily[/name] to a stronger degree. Kind of like with [name]Georgiana[/name].
[name]Jane[/name] - Simultaneously earthy and elegant, a perfect fit with [name]Reid[/name]. The only thing to give me pause is if you’d feel you’d be in a rut with one syllable names if you’re planning future children? If you’re not, or you’re convinced that won’t be a problem, then a great option.
[name]Juliet[/name] - mmm, a beautiful name, a little too literary next to [name]Reid[/name]. It’s OK though.
[name]Louisa[/name] - like [name]Jane[/name] and [name]Reid[/name], elegant and spunky at once. I like that there is the shared ee without it being overwhelming. A great choice.
[name]Lydia[/name] - Similar comments to [name]Louisa[/name]. Great!
[name]Phoebe[/name] - I like this name, but it’s a lot of ee with [name]Reid[/name]. [name]Louisa[/name] up by a step. I’d prefer [name]Daphne[/name] of the two super-Greek names here.
[name]Violet[/name] - I like it pretty well. Two plant words again, but a better fit than [name]Hazel[/name].
[name]Willa[/name] - I feel similarly with this name as I do with [name]Hazel[/name].
[name]Zara[/name] - A great name, but very space-age princess next to [name]Reid[/name], I think.
