a sister for Alma

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]!

so [name_f]Monday[/name_f] we’ve found out that our two year old daughter [name_f]Alma[/name_f] will have a little sister
Now we are looking for a great name to go with [name_f]Alma[/name_f], which we still love!
We are looking for an international sounding name since we live in [name_f]Italy[/name_f] but I am belgian. A lovely meaning is a plus.
here are some of the names I’ve come up with so far in no particular order. I would really appreciate comments and additions

  • [name_f]Laia[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Anais[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Eloisa[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Clio[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Marine[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Olimpia[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Vita[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Delphine[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Leonie[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Celine[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Leila[/name_f]

thanks !

Hmm…
[name_f]Laia[/name_f] - I am not keen on this name I think it’s a bit SCI-FI for me even though of course it’s [name_f]Leia[/name_f] I just dislike it.

[name_f]Anais[/name_f] - This is a gorgeous [name_m]French[/name_m] name it’s really pretty and delicate. A lovely name. But could be limiting when naming a future child as you’ve already used another ‘a’ name.

[name_f]Eloisa[/name_f] - [name_m]Ah[/name_m] another gorgeous name! [name_f]Eloisa[/name_f] is elegant, fresh and has a natural sunny disposition. Also the [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] nickname for [name_f]Eloisa[/name_f] is lovely. [name_f]Eloisa[/name_f] is a great name and she sounds lovely with [name_f]Alma[/name_f].

[name_f]Clio[/name_f] - This is a spunky snap of a name it’s vibrant and has a nice sound. Yet I am not keen on [name_f]Clio[/name_f] teamed with [name_f]Alma[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Clio[/name_f] feels too spunky teamed with understated elegant [name_f]Alma[/name_f].

[name_f]Marine[/name_f] - This is a pretty oceanic name and is a fashionable [name_m]French[/name_m] name, I also like the meaning ‘from the sea’. [name_f]Marine[/name_f] & [name_f]Alba[/name_f] is a really pretty sibling set. But I do prefer [name_f]Marina[/name_f] I just think it has a spunkier sound.

[name_f]Olimpia[/name_f] - This Spanish variation of [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] is a fine name but visually I prefer [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] I just think it looks more attractive.

[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] - My favourite ‘[name_f]Maddie[/name_f]’ name, [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] is a pretty [name_m]French[/name_m] name but I think visually this name is to long teamed with [name_f]Alma[/name_f].

[name_f]Vita[/name_f] - I come from a mixed family and my mother’s Polish-Israeli family call me [name_f]Vita[/name_f] (my name is [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]) and I love the nickname my mother’s family have given me. [name_f]Vita[/name_f] is really vibrant, spunky and yet elegant. Also [name_f]Vita[/name_f] has the lovely meaning ‘life’ it’s a great choice. [name_f]Alma[/name_f] & [name_f]Vita[/name_f] sound fabulous together.

[name_f]Delphine[/name_f] - I love this name! It’s grown on me so much of recent. It’s a sleek [name_m]French[/name_m] name and I love the nickname [name_f]Delphi[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] & [name_f]Alma[/name_f] are really lovely together.

[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] - This is a pretty name but I prefer [name_f]Leona[/name_f].

[name_f]Celine[/name_f] - This name makes me think of [name_f]Celine[/name_f] [name_m]Dion[/name_m] not that there is anything wrong with her but I do prefer [name_f]Selene[/name_f] it just looks far prettier.

[name_f]Leila[/name_f] - This my favourite spelling of the ‘[name_f]Leila[/name_f]’ group of names it’s a pretty Arabic sounding name with the majestic meaning ‘night’. It’s pretty and works with [name_f]Alma[/name_f].

My favourites are [name_f]Eloisa[/name_f] & [name_f]Vita[/name_f] : )

I like [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] best with [name_f]Alma[/name_f].

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Rosa[/name_f], [name_f]Marina[/name_f] or [name_f]Marine[/name_f]

thank you! great feedback! I also really like [name_f]Vita[/name_f] but I fear Ill be having some issues convincing my other half :))

I think [name_f]Vita[/name_f] goes the best with [name_f]Alma[/name_f].

I’m a fan of [name_f]Vita[/name_f] paired with [name_f]Alma[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] and [name_f]Alma[/name_f] sound best.
I’m not a fan of the shortness of [name_f]Vita[/name_f].

I have to put my vote in for [name_f]Vita[/name_f]. I love it. I have considered it as a nickname for [name_f]Vitoria[/name_f] (no C), but I think it stands alone well. It also has a lovely meaning, life, which seems to be something you are concerned with. Otherwise I think [name_f]Eloisa[/name_f], [name_f]Leona[/name_f] (not [name_f]Leonie[/name_f]) and [name_f]Marina[/name_f] (not [name_f]Marine[/name_f]) could work. The A-ending versions of these names seem more international than the more [name_m]French[/name_m] E-endings.

[name_f]Vita[/name_f], since its most unique and has an awesome meaning.
Runner up-[name_f]Eloisa[/name_f], since it’s uncommon and has nice nickname potentials ([name_f]Ella[/name_f]/[name_f]Ellie[/name_f]).

Yes I also like [name_f]Marine[/name_f] ( in my list)
and [name_f]Marina[/name_f] !

Thanks for the feedback  cute nickname for [name_f]Vitoria[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] a lot, of the choices previously mentioned, but have you considered [name_f]Oceane[/name_f]? To me, it is gorgeous and has just the right feeling with [name_f]Alma[/name_f]!
Otavia also comes to mind.

yes I like the sound of [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] too, it’s soft and sweet … [name_f]Oceane[/name_f] is a beautiful name but it feels like overdoing it a bit I guess… Doesn’t feel natural to me at least.

[name_f]Laia[/name_f]: I like this but I actually prefer [name_f]Eulalia[/name_f] with [name_f]Laia[/name_f] as a nickname as a sister to [name_f]Alma[/name_f].

[name_f]Anais[/name_f]: not too keen on this one to be honest, I prefer [name_f]Anouk[/name_f]. I’m also not convinced about siblings with the same initial.

[name_f]Eloisa[/name_f]: this is nice and works really well with [name_f]Alma[/name_f].

[name_f]Clio[/name_f]: [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] IT!!! By far my favourite of your choices, plus it’s cute with [name_f]Alma[/name_f].

[name_f]Marine[/name_f]: I think [name_f]Marine[/name_f] [name_m]Le[/name_m] [name_u]Pen[/name_u], I’d steer clear.

[name_f]Olimpia[/name_f]: like but prefer the [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] spelling.

[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]: beautiful name, but not sure how well it goes with [name_f]Alma[/name_f]. That might not be a concern for you though.

[name_f]Vita[/name_f]: this one is cool - very bright and sparky. I like it with soft, gentle [name_f]Alma[/name_f].

[name_f]Delphine[/name_f]: OK, but not my favourite. I much prefer it to [name_f]Celine[/name_f] though.

[name_f]Leonie[/name_f]: really pretty, my second favourite for you.

[name_f]Celine[/name_f]: don’t like it, I think of [name_f]Celine[/name_f] [name_m]Dion[/name_m].

[name_f]Leila[/name_f]: OK but a bit too popular/average alongside [name_f]Alma[/name_f].

you are probably right about [name_f]Marine[/name_f]. Shame though as i think it is a beautiful name.
Thnaks for your comments!
ps: my sister is named [name_f]Anouk[/name_f]! beautiful name!

[name_f]Alma[/name_f] and [name_f]Clio[/name_f]!

[name_f]Vita[/name_f], [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] (or [name_f]Leona[/name_f]), [name_f]Eloisa[/name_f] and [name_f]Clio[/name_f] are my favorites with [name_f]Alma[/name_f].

[name_f]Vita[/name_f] or [name_f]Eloisa[/name_f]. Both are beautiful and elegant and pair nicely with [name_f]Alma[/name_f]!
