A sister for Asa

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]!
We’re planning for [name_u]Asa[/name_u] Jay’s little sister. Initally the plan was for Phillippa (nn Pippa) which I love, but it doesn’t seem like a great match with [name_u]Asa[/name_u] (who also goes by [name_u]Ace[/name_u] and AJ). Family is white/Jewish with Hungarian roots. [name_u]Asa[/name_u] is new to our family but [name_u]Jay[/name_u] is an honor name.

Other names we’ve been thinking:

  • [name_f]Rivka[/name_f] - classically Jewish name, unusual sound but easy to say (like Asa), Riv or [name_f]Rivi[/name_f] is a cute nn and honors my FIL indirectly.
  • [name_u]Zoe[/name_u] - Jewish but familiar, the A and Z play nicely together, and the name sound is very different from [name_u]Asa[/name_u] (ie doesn’t end in an “a”)
  • [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] - similar logic as above except for some reason my wife doesn’t like it :frowning:
  • [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] - family honor name, doesn’t sound like [name_u]Asa[/name_u], [name_f]Bea[/name_f] is a great nickname (as our last name starts with B, she’s likely go by Bb!)

Other ideas? You can see where what our style is!

TIA!

Strongly pro [name_f]Rivka[/name_f] or [name_u]Zoe[/name_u] honestly. Sorry [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] isn’t going to work for you

Others:

[name_u]Asa[/name_u] & [name_f]Zara[/name_f] (I love this one, personally, and you get the “a” ending from Philippa)
[name_u]Asa[/name_u] & [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] “Asa & Sus/Susie”
[name_u]Asa[/name_u] & [name_f]Eila[/name_f] (love this one too!)
[name_u]Asa[/name_u] & [name_f]Aviva[/name_f]
[name_u]Asa[/name_u] & [name_f]Eliora[/name_f]

Hopefully these help

I think [name_f]Golda[/name_f] works best with [name_u]Asa[/name_u]

You have a nice list going so far!

[name_f]Rivka[/name_f] is an unexpected choice - sharp, interesting and distinctive!

[name_u]Zoe[/name_u] is sweet and sassy - I like the A-Z thing and how they’re both three letters?

[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] ‘Bea’ is charming, elegant and sweet!

I do think [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] ‘Pippa’ works it you still like it :person_shrugging: [name_u]Or[/name_u] even if you used just [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] - [name_u]Asa[/name_u] and [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] would be cool!

[name_u]Tali[/name_u] / [name_f]Talia[/name_f]

[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] ‘Dotty’

[name_f]Noemi[/name_f] ‘Emi’

[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] ‘Goldie’ (but could be [name_f]Mari[/name_f], [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] too)

[name_u]Cleo[/name_u]

Thank you!! Lucie/Lucia and [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] are also favorites! And [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] I adore but we have one in the close family  what great ideas here though!

Ooo [name_f]Zara[/name_f]

I love that [name_u]Zoe[/name_u] is 3 letters lkke [name_u]Asa[/name_u] - I hadn’t actually realized that! We have an inadvertent family tradition of three letter names on my wife’s side so that’s actually kind of meaningful!

I adore [name_f]Talia[/name_f] but we have one in the family already.

I love love love [name_u]Cleo[/name_u] - if only we hadn’t named a dog that :joy:

And agree, [name_f]Rivka[/name_f] is unexpected and sharp. Maybe too sharp?

I think [name_u]Zoe[/name_u] works super well with [name_u]Asa[/name_u]!

Maybe…
[name_u]Eden[/name_u]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Esta[/name_f]
[name_f]Naomi[/name_f]
[name_f]Ziva[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

I love [name_u]Asa[/name_u]! Great job there. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Here are my thoughts for a little sister:

Philippa-It’s honestly not my favorite, but I don’t think that it doesn’t go with [name_u]Asa[/name_u]. It’s longer, but [name_u]Asa[/name_u] & [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] are cute. I like [name_f]Pippa[/name_f], but I don’t love the way [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] looks for some reason. And it’s hard to say, because I don’t know which syllable to put the inflection on.

Rivka-I love this in theory & it’s perfect with [name_u]Asa[/name_u]. I think that the sound is a little harsh for my liking, but I love that Hebrew vibe & that it’s unique without being weird.

Zoe-So cute with [name_u]Asa[/name_u], but it’s really kind of popular & trendy for my tastes. I used to love it, but just got a little sick of seeing it.

Goldie-I like that it’s vintage & feels sweet & sparkly. Maybe it’s better as a nn though. I like [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] nn [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] more.

Beatrice-Beatrice is smart, sweet, vintage & not too out there but unique enough to be fun. I like [name_u]Asa[/name_u] & [name_f]Bea[/name_f]. I also love the nns [name_f]Bess[/name_f] & [name_f]Bette[/name_f].

Sorry for any repeats, but a few other ideas that you may like…

[name_u]Eliya[/name_u]

[name_f]Leora[/name_f]

[name_f]Miriam[/name_f]

[name_f]Nava[/name_f]

[name_f]Olive[/name_f]

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]

[name_u]Rose[/name_u]

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]

[name_f]Tess[/name_f]

[name_u]Vida[/name_u]

[name_f]Zella[/name_f]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

I think [name_f]Rivka[/name_f] is the best bet!

Other ideas:

[name_f]Jora[/name_f]
[name_f]Dasha[/name_f]
[name_f]Ceres[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_u]Remy[/name_u]
[name_u]Shiloh[/name_u]

All of these names sound great as a sister to [name_u]Asa[/name_u]. You really can’t go wrong.

Either [name_u]Zoe[/name_u] or [name_f]Rivka[/name_f] works best as a sister for [name_u]Asa[/name_u].
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] would be a great middle name since it’s an honor name like [name_u]Jay[/name_u]. [name_f]Rivka[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] and [name_u]Zoe[/name_u] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] both work well.

I really like [name_u]Zoe[/name_u] with [name_u]Asa[/name_u]! I like that they sound different enough, that one starts with A and the other with Z, and that they are the same length.

[name_f]My[/name_f] second favorite on your list is [name_f]Rivka[/name_f] nn Riv/Rivi.

For either [name_u]Zoe[/name_u] or [name_f]Rivka[/name_f], I think [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] would be a nice middle name. You could also use the nicknames [name_u]Zoe[/name_u] [name_f]Bea[/name_f] or [name_f]Rivi[/name_f] [name_f]Bea[/name_f], which are cute.

[name_u]Loving[/name_u] the idea of [name_f]Rivka[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] as suggested by @heartwings!

You’ve had lots of lovely suggestions so count any repeats as me being in agreement with the berries
