A sister for Hazel

We’re searching for a name for [name]Hazel[/name] [name]Iona[/name]'s baby sister, due at the end of [name]August[/name].
Our two favorites are [name]Ivy[/name] and [name]Ada[/name].
I’d especially love suggestions for middle names.

xoxo Thanks!
[name]Hazel[/name]'s Mom

Out of [name]Ivy[/name] and [name]Ada[/name], I’d choose [name]Ada[/name], for sure. I worry if you choose [name]Ivy[/name] you will get stuck in a pattern of having to use nature names as first names, and you might not like any more, right? Anyway, I happen to know a family with three children - a toddler named [name]Hazel[/name] and twin babies named [name]Felix[/name] and [name]Ada[/name]! Are you saying [name]Ada[/name] as ‘add-uh’ or ‘A-duh’?

As for middle names, one of the birth flowers for [name]August[/name] is the poppy, so you could sneak in a nature name as a middle name. [name]Ada[/name] [name]Poppy[/name] is cute with [name]Hazel[/name] [name]Iona[/name]! Or, if you want another Scottish name like [name]Iona[/name], here are ideas:

[name]Ada[/name] [name]Greer[/name]
[name]Ada[/name] [name]Lilias[/name]
[name]Ada[/name] [name]Maisie[/name]
[name]Ada[/name] [name]Muriel[/name] ([name]Muireall[/name])
[name]Ada[/name] [name]Paisley[/name]

Other first names I think would be cute are [name]Alice[/name], [name]Clara[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Diana[/name], [name]Frances[/name], [name]Gwyneth[/name], [name]Margo[/name], [name]Olive[/name], [name]Phoebe[/name], [name]Sylvie[/name], and [name]Tess[/name]…

Thanks [name]Lemon[/name]!

We’d pronounce it “A-duh” (after a spunky, English great-aunt).
[name]Sylvie[/name] and [name]Olive[/name] are also on our short list.
Big [name]Sister[/name] (4) [name]Hazel[/name] has been pushing for [name]Clara[/name]!
[name]Will[/name] give these some thought.

Well, you’re [name]Hazel[/name] has impeccable taste, I’d say! [name]Even[/name] though I suggested it, I think [name]Olive[/name] is too much nature next to [name]Hazel[/name], too - like [name]Ivy[/name]. [name]Sylvie[/name] is just different and fun! And, I like the way you pronounce [name]Ada[/name]! The people I know with [name]Hazel[/name], [name]Felix[/name], and [name]Ada[/name] pronounce it as “add-uh.”

Out of [name]Ivy[/name] and [name]Ada[/name], I’d definitely go with [name]Ada[/name]. [name]Ivy[/name] is lovely but way too matchy. [name]Hazel[/name] and [name]Ada[/name] do have the similar long A at the beginning, though. I really like [name]Clara[/name] with [name]Hazel[/name], and [name]Sylvie[/name] is also lovely. What about:

[name]Helen[/name] (too similar?)
[name]Rosemary[/name] (too matchy?)

[name]Ada[/name] is my favourite from your shortlist. [name]Ada[/name] [name]Frances[/name] has a lovely flow to it. Here are some other suggestions for [name]Hazel[/name]'s sister. Good [name]Luck[/name]!
