Hey Nameberries. I”ve lurked here for a while and am finally in need of your great name advice. My husband and I have two daughters, [name]Iris[/name] [name]Leona[/name] and [name]Jane[/name] “[name]Janie[/name]” [name]Wilhelmina[/name]. For our girls we picked names that have a bit of a vintage feel, that went well with our longer last name (four syllables, starts with M) and that aren”t popular but aren”t unheard of. [name]Leona[/name] and [name]Wilhelmina[/name] were dh/my grandmother”s names. We”re expecting our third girl and we are sort of at a loss for names. Nothing feels like “it” yet. We want something with the same qualities we liked in [name]Iris[/name] and [name]Jane[/name]”s names. Possible middles are [name]Cecelia[/name] and [name]Catherine[/name] (both family names) though we’re willing to use something else if necessary. Also, while we aren”t set on sticking with a four letter theme, it would be a plus.
A few names we”ve considered:
[name]Aria[/name]
[name]Dora[/name]
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Helen[/name]
[name]Beatrice[/name]/[name]Bea[/name]
Thanks in advance for any and all advice!
[name]Andrea[/name], [name]Jay[/name] & the girls
[name]Iris[/name] [name]Leona[/name] and [name]Jane[/name] [name]Wilhelmina[/name] are so gorgeous! I love them!
Anyway. From your list, I really like [name]Alice[/name], [name]Helen[/name], and [name]Beatrice[/name]. [name]Dora[/name] = the [name]Explorer[/name] and [name]Aria[/name] is not nearly as classic as [name]Iris[/name] and [name]Jane[/name]-- I’d even call it trendy. [name]How[/name] about:
From your list, I really like [name]Alice[/name], [name]Helen[/name], and [name]Beatrice[/name]/[name]Bea[/name]. The nickname [name]Nell[/name] would work really well for [name]Helen[/name]!
Hmmm, here are some ideas!
[name]Kate[/name] (for [name]Catherine[/name]?)
[name]Rose[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]
[name]Anne[/name]
[name]Lillian[/name] nn [name]Lily[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name] nn [name]Beth[/name]?
[name]Eleanor[/name] nn [name]Ella[/name]
[name]Fern[/name]
[name]Adele[/name]
[name]Opal[/name]
[name]Lark[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] nn [name]Gia[/name]?
[name]Susannah[/name] nn [name]Susie[/name]/[name]Suzy[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name]
[name]Fiona[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] nn [name]Mia[/name]
I think that [name]Dora[/name] is a cute name but one of my friends is a 50 year old [name]Dora[/name]. She is extemely clever and thoughtful and absolutley hates [name]Dora[/name]. I knew her for 10 years before I even knew it was her actual first name (she always uses another). When I sat down to post I tried to think of an older person that [name]Dora[/name] could suit I could only see it on the very young and the very old.
I haven’t been exposed to children much, perhap a couple of “[name]Dora[/name] the [name]Explorer[/name]” DVD’s could cure me!
The vintage feel of [name]Dora[/name] is nice with [name]Iris[/name] and [name]Janie[/name].
I love the idea of sticking with your four letter theme. Not only because it fits your other girls names, but it sounds like a short, sweet name is best with your last name. I also really like [name]Catherine[/name] and [name]Cecilia[/name] (spelt this way).
Are you open to other middle name suggestions, too?
