A Sister for Joan?

My top name right now for a girl is [name_u]Joan[/name_u]. It’s very meaningful to my partner and I.
My only problem is trying to pair it with a potential sister name.

I adore [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], it’s been on my list off and on for awhile now, however, I dont think [name_u]Joan[/name_u] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] work together? [name_u]Joan[/name_u] is vintage, and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] is not (please correct me if I’m wrong! I’d love to find out that [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] is vintage).

Runners up are [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] & [name_f]Winifred[/name_f].
I’ve also thought of [name_f]Margery[/name_f], but my partner says no.

Other names I like but can’t use:

[name_u]Joan[/name_u] is gorgeous, I think it’s so lovely and would love to see it on a little one! I actually think [name_u]Joan[/name_u] & [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] make perfect sisters, I would definitely consider [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] to be vintage (there is a Catholic St [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] of [name_m]Rome[/name_m] from the 2nd century!)
A few more ideas:
[name_u]Joan[/name_u] &

What about [name_f]Edna[/name_f] or [name_f]Edith[/name_f]?
They fit in nicely with [name_u]Joan[/name_u] and have equally fun and slightly tomboyish nn potential- [name_u]Joan[/name_u] ([name_u]Jo[/name_u]/[name_u]Joey[/name_u]) [name_f]Edna[/name_f] ([name_m]Ed[/name_m]/[name_m]Eddy[/name_m]) & [name_f]Edith[/name_f] ([name_f]Edie[/name_f])
Something with a similar feel to [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] with a vintage feel I thought of was [name_f]Celia[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] works with [name_u]Joan[/name_u]. I also like the suggestions of [name_f]Celia[/name_f] and [name_f]Ruth[/name_f].

Oh that’s really awesome to hear about [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], thanks for letting me know!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

I love [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] too, but I don’t honestly think that it works that well w/[name_u]Joan[/name_u] either. However, if [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] is your absolute (second) favorite, I wouldn’t worry about it that much. I feel like my top two girl names don’t go together either ([name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] & [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] nn ‘[name_f]Nellie[/name_f]’), but I think that I’m learning to live w/it. I think that it’s more important to use two names that you love even if they’re not the same style. Of course I wouldn’t recommend using [name_u]Joan[/name_u] & [name_f]Jane[/name_f] or [name_f]Anne[/name_f] & [name_f]Anna[/name_f], but that’s just for practical reasons that they’ll get mixed up.

I think that [name_f]Majorie[/name_f] would be perfect w/[name_u]Joan[/name_u]. Too bad that one doesn’t work. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] & [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] both work fine. I love the nns for those more than the full names ([name_f]Bess[/name_f]/[name_f]Bette[/name_f]/[name_f]Tess[/name_f]/[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]/[name_f]Elsie[/name_f]/[name_f]Ellie[/name_f] & [name_f]Winnie[/name_f].) [name_u]Joan[/name_u] & [name_f]Bess[/name_f] is my favorite.

Here are a few other ideas that sort of match the style of [name_u]Joan[/name_u]:

[name_f]Harriet[/name_f]-[name_f]Joanie[/name_f] & [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]? [name_m]How[/name_m] cute is that?

[name_f]Kathleen[/name_f]-[name_f]Joanie[/name_f] & [name_f]Kitty[/name_f]!

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

I think [name_u]Joan[/name_u] is a great name, but it strikes me as a strong, can-do, mid century name from the “Greatest Generation.” It’s too bad you can’t use [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] because I think that is perfect.

[name_u]Joan[/name_u] & [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_u]Joan[/name_u] & [name_f]Barbara[/name_f]
[name_u]Joan[/name_u] & [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_u]Joan[/name_u] & [name_f]Elaine[/name_f]
[name_u]Joan[/name_u] & [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nn [name_f]Betty[/name_f]; [name_f]Betty[/name_f] & [name_f]Joanie[/name_f]. This is my favorite!
[name_u]Joan[/name_u] & [name_f]Martha[/name_f]
[name_u]Joan[/name_u] & [name_f]Pauline[/name_f]
[name_u]Joan[/name_u] & [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
[name_u]Joan[/name_u] & [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_u]Joan[/name_u] & [name_f]Vera[/name_f]
[name_u]Joan[/name_u] & [name_f]Kathryn[/name_f]/[name_f]Katherine[/name_f]/[name_f]Catherine[/name_f] nn [name_u]Kay[/name_u]–This is my second favorite.
[name_u]Joan[/name_u] & [name_f]Helen[/name_f]
Joan & Patricia nn Patsy

Thanks everyone! Great suggestions for names, I have considered most of them before but it’s given me a chance to consider them again.

I’ve put [name_f]Margery[/name_f] back on my list for now. My partner heavily associates it with GOT, but that’s definitely not a bad thing. Maybe I can persuade him over time…

[name_u]Joan[/name_u] is a stunning name!

To me [name_u]Joan[/name_u] sounds like a quiet, serious name and would be well complimented with a name like ‘[name_f]Frances[/name_f]’, ‘[name_f]Margot[/name_f]’ or ‘[name_f]Anna[/name_f]’ (gorgeous names but not super dreamy like [name_f]Florence[/name_f] or [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]).

Good luck!
