We are expecting our second daughter in [name]March[/name] and cannot agree on a name. Our 2 year old [name]Maeve[/name] has suggested “crocodile” but unfortunately it did not make the cut. Our final four choices
are listed below. Any feedback you have would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Haha crocodile, bless her [name]Maeve[/name] is a gorgeous name.
I love [name]Maeve[/name] with [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Ottilie[/name] (not keen on the Othilie spelling myself, the pronunciation issues are already bad enough imo). They all have that classic, sweet, fun feel to me, perfect for sisters
I think [name]Maeve[/name] and [name]Tamsin[/name] are impeccable together–the M in [name]Tamsin[/name] gently ties them together, and they’re both fun, unusual, feminine without being flowery. I also think [name]Maeve[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name] are really lovely, too, but I find [name]Eleanor[/name] more traditional, perhaps more sedate beside [name]Maeve[/name]. [name]Thalia[/name] is beautiful, but doesn’t strike me the way [name]Tamsin[/name] does. And Othilie feels very heavy and French where [name]Maeve[/name] is Irish/British and light.
[name]Maeve[/name] is an adorable name, but it’s my sister’s name so I might be a bit biased. I’d go with another classic Irish name for your second, [name]Brigid[/name], [name]Shannon[/name], [name]Aoife[/name], [name]Molly[/name] or [name]Roisin[/name]. Out of yours I love [name]Eleanor[/name] perhaps with the nickname [name]Nellie[/name], I always think of a little Irish girl when I hear the name [name]Nellie[/name], I blame American Girl Dolls.
I like [name]Maeve[/name] with [name]Tamsin[/name] or [name]Thalia[/name], and I agree that [name]Nellie[/name] would be a fantastic nickname to use with [name]Maeve[/name] if you should choose that name.
I like [name]Maeve[/name] and [name]Thalia[/name]! I think they go great together but I also like [name]Eleanor[/name]. [name]Tamsin[/name] is nms and I think [name]Ottilie[/name] is already hard enough for most to pronounce, the Othilie spelling is only going to make it harder.
[name]Maeve[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name]- Very nice, but [name]Eleanor[/name] is much more classic than [name]Maeve[/name], and the other 2 (below) have better style combinations.
[name]Maeve[/name] and [name]Ottilie[/name]- Only with that spelling, but I agree with a pp, [name]Maeve[/name] and [name]Ottilie[/name] IS pretty much perfection.
[name]Maeve[/name] and [name]Thalia[/name]- [name]Maeve[/name] and [name]Thalia[/name] is very nice as well. I think they would be great for sisters.
thanks so much for your feedback everyone! Since we are a French/American family presently living in [name]France[/name], we have pronunciation problems on both sides.
I like [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Thalia[/name] from your list. What about…
[name]Delilah[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] - could work in French!
[name]Aviva[/name]
[name]Helena[/name] / [name]Helen[/name] - this works in French, too
[name]Violet[/name]
[name]Julia[/name] / [name]Juliet[/name] - works in French
[name]Dahlia[/name]
[name]Eudora[/name]
[name]Fallon[/name]
[name]Opal[/name]
[name]Lavender[/name]
[name]Gwendolen[/name]
[name]Vera[/name]
[name]Giselle[/name] - works in French
Now I know why we didn’t talk to our family about name choices until after our first was born.
It seems that most of our original choices carried negative associations for a few of our family members so we have revised our list. Please let me know what you think.
[name]Just[/name] a little information: Our 2 year old daughter’s name is [name]Maeve[/name]. We are a French/American family presently living in [name]France[/name]. Our kids last name is typically French sounding too. Thanks in advance for your help!
[name]Freya[/name] and [name]Maeve[/name] are perfect together and I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Cecile[/name]. The combo of [name]Freya[/name] [name]Cecile[/name] is beautiful.
[name]Maeve[/name] and [name]Thalia[/name]! [name]Love[/name] both of these names. I also like [name]Maeve[/name] and [name]Ottilie[/name], but I’m going to echo pp in that I vastly prefer this spelling for both the look and ease of pronunciation.
[name]Love[/name] the name [name]Thalia[/name]! I’ve never been a fan of [name]Eleanor[/name] although I know it’s a favorite on here. Elinora is very pretty but might be too frilly with big sis. I think it works though. I really like [name]Tamsin[/name] and think that would be a nice fit as well.
