A sister for Maggie Laine

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Berries! So I am pregnant with my second girl, and they will be 16 months apart!:o

First daughter is [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] [name_u]Laine[/name_u] (just [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]), and she was named after my father and grandmother. For this next one we’d like to use a J for the middle name to honor both mine and my husband’s mothers.

Hubby doesn’t want to talk names until due date gets closer because I drive him crazy changing my mind, so I need your help. So far, the only 3 names we agree on are (in no particular order):

[name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]

[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f]

or

[name_f]Paige[/name_f] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] (open to another middle name to go with this that starts with J).

If we were to pick [name_f]Paige[/name_f] though, does the “jah” sound at the end mush too much with a middle name starting with J?

What is your favorite from best to least?

If you don’t care for any of these names that’s fine, but please don’t comment then, because this is what we’ve got. Would love to hear why you pick what you pick, or any other name suggestions with the same vibe. Thanks so much for giving me someone to bounce ideas off of!

I think you’ve found the name in [name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]! Sounds like the perfect sister to Miss [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] [name_u]Laine[/name_u].
After [name_u]Piper[/name_u], I like [name_f]Paige[/name_f] and then [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]. I think [name_f]Paige[/name_f] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] sounds just fine; it does mush a little between the names but I don’t think that’s a problem unless you’re going to be calling her by her first two names all the time! Good luck and congratulations on your second little girl!

I’m another vote for [name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] with [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] [name_u]Laine[/name_u]-- the names work well together.

[name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] or [name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] are really my favourites.

I love [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]! Sadly, I dislike all your choices. They seem trendy and masculine while [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] is a classic. Names I would love to see with [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]:

[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lola[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
Amelia
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f]
[name_f]Kathleen[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_f]Lila[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Julia[/name_f]

I like [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] best, then [name_u]Piper[/name_u] then [name_f]Paige[/name_f].
[name_u]Piper[/name_u] and [name_f]Paige[/name_f] both feel to modern next to [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], which I view as a sweet vintage name. [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] also fees quite modern but less trendy than the other two (and I think Quinnie as a potential nn is adorable).

Some suggestions:
[name_u]Scout[/name_u]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Liv[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Nell[/name_f] (probably my favourite mix or moderna and vintage and therefore one I’d love with [name_f]Maggie[/name_f])
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] / [name_f]Tess[/name_f]

I do think that the G at the end of [name_f]Paige[/name_f] will be tricky with a J-middle, so I would not use it.

I think [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] are different in many ways, but they somehow both give me kind of a [name_m]Little[/name_m] Women feeling. I can see them braiding each other’s hair in front of a fireplace, or ice skating together, picking flowers outside.

[name_u]Piper[/name_u] seems very modern next to sweet vintage nickname [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. It’s not that I don’t think they sound fine together, I just greatly prefer [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] in this case.

I like the suggestions of [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], [name_f]Tess[/name_f]/[name_f]Tessa[/name_f], and [name_f]Nell[/name_f]. I’d add [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Abigail[/name_f]/[name_u]Abby[/name_u], and [name_f]Faith[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Joanna[/name_f], [name_f]Jessa[/name_f]/[name_f]Jessamine[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f], and [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f]/[name_u]Jean[/name_u] could work as alternate middles.

[name_f]Nell[/name_f] [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f]
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f]
[name_f]Tess[/name_f] [name_f]Joanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f] [name_f]Jessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u]
[name_f]Faith[/name_f] [name_f]Joanna[/name_f]
[name_u]Abby[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Joanna[/name_f]

I love the name [name_f]Paige[/name_f], but perhaps you might want to do something like [name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_f]Paige[/name_f] or [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] [name_f]Paige[/name_f]. The g sound does interfere a little with the middle names you’ve chosen.

Personally [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] is a timeless name. [name_u]Piper[/name_u] is Trendy as well as [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]. Have you ever thought of [name_f]Ellen[/name_f], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], nn [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] or [name_f]Evie[/name_f]. [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ginny[/name_f],
I like [name_f]Jolie[/name_f], how about [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Joelle[/name_f], [name_f]Janine[/name_f]. Congrats and Good [name_m]Luck[/name_m]! Please let us know what you choose!

I love [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] [name_u]Laine[/name_u] and [name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] together. They make sweet sister names.

From the other suggestions I like [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] and [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] or [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f].

I love [name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]! [name_f]Paige[/name_f] does run into [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] but since the first and middle are rarely said together I don’t think it’s a dealbreaker. [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is cute too. All solid choices! Best of luck in making your decision!

I vote for [name_u]Piper[/name_u] with either middle name ([name_f]Joy[/name_f] or [name_f]Jolie[/name_f]).

Thanks for all your replies so far everyone, some great thoughts here! While I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the sound of [name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f], and it really just gives me a happy vibe, I struggle with the trendiness of [name_u]Piper[/name_u] plus meanings are sort of important to me, and while it doesn’t have a bad meaning, it’s just not super impressive.

And I’m beginning to think that the “jah” sound at the end of [name_f]Paige[/name_f] runs too much into a middle name starting with J.

So out of the three, right now I’m liking [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], aside from [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f], maybe [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_f]Joanna[/name_f], [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_f]Joelle[/name_f], [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]?

My husband’s [name_m]FAVORITE[/name_m] name is [name_f]Norah[/name_f]. It doesn’t really excite me, although I admit I like the sound of [name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f], and has a beautiful meaning.

The suggestion of [name_f]Claire[/name_f] got us thinking. I think [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is such a beautiful sounding name, and I do have a soft spot for one syllable names, but I find it tad bit boring? It’s weird that I could think a name is so gorgeous yet find it boring, I feel like I’m contradicting myself. [name_f]Claire[/name_f] would be a name my husband and I would use to meet in the middle.

Another name that I’m sort of attracted to is [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f], nn [name_u]Joss[/name_u], but not sure about how it feels saying it. I always wonder if it’s two or three syllables.

I think [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is my favorite, but if hubs doesn’t go for it and I have to compromise, do you all prefer [name_f]Claire[/name_f] or [name_f]Norah[/name_f], and why? I always thought I’d give my child wild, out there names, but as I mature I find myself thinking of names that will stand the test of time, albeit not very exciting. I must be getting old!

I really love [name_f]Norah[/name_f] and [name_f]Claire[/name_f]. I prefer both over [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]. I only love [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] on a boy.

[name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] for sure!

If [name_f]Claire[/name_f] seems too plain, what about [name_f]Clara[/name_f]? [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]?

I love [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_f]Joanna[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f], [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f], and [name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f].

I really like [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] with [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], that would be my choice out of your original options. [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] is a great middle name - unique and flows beautifully. I love the suggestion of [name_f]Clara[/name_f] v [name_f]Claire[/name_f]. I love the name [name_f]Claire[/name_f] too but would never use it myself because as you say it feels too plain or buttoned up or something for me. So strange because I just love it
(For someone else)! I love [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f]. Others I would like with [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] are [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] & [name_f]Clea[/name_f]. Both with [name_f]Jolie[/name_f]

I think [name_u]Piper[/name_u] and [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] are lovely. I’m less a fan of [name_f]Paige[/name_f]. I honestly think [name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] would be amazing, but that doesn’t work if you definitely are sold on a J-starting MN.

[name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] sounds so sweet with [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] [name_u]Laine[/name_u].

Oh, I just adore [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] [name_u]Laine[/name_u]. (It’s going on my great combos list)

[name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] - It has a very nice ring to it but maybe to popular next to [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]?
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and [name_f]Jolie[/name_f]. But it dosen’t work, [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] would have been better. Maybe [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is a bit too unisex?
[name_f]Paige[/name_f] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] - The name clashes with eachother.

[name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] is lovely, it’s stylish and goes well with [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] [name_u]Laine[/name_u].
If you’re not sure about [name_f]Norah[/name_f] maybe [name_f]Eleonora[/name_f]/[name_f]Eleanora[/name_f]/[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nora[/name_f] instead?

I love [name_f]Claire[/name_f] it’s very elegant and gorgeous (Big Outlander fan)
If you think [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is a bit boring maybe [name_f]Clara[/name_f] (my favorite) or [name_f]Clary[/name_f]? Still elegant but a little less boring.

[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Clary[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u]

Other suggestions:

[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] nn [name_f]Dottie[/name_f]
[name_f]Ebba[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f]
[name_u]Harper[/name_u]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Hattie[/name_f]
[name_f]Ida[/name_f]
[name_f]Ilsa[/name_f]
[name_f]Inez[/name_f]
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_u]Josie[/name_u]
[name_f]Lilith[/name_f]
[name_f]Nova[/name_f]
[name_f]Philippa[/name_f] nn [name_f]Pippa[/name_f]
[name_f]Posey[/name_f]
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f]/[name_f]Ruthie[/name_f]
[name_u]Rynn[/name_u]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Tilda[/name_f]

Good luck!

I like [name_u]Piper[/name_u] and [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] but not so much with [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]/[name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Norah[/name_f] ideas though. I also want to through [name_u]June[/name_u] out there as a middle name.

[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]
[name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
