I’m looking for a girl’s name to go with [name]Maisie[/name] [name]Cordelia[/name] and [name]Birdie[/name] [name]Emmeline[/name] (prn. [name]Em[/name]-eh-leen).
The problem is I have a touch of OCD and I’ve kinda put myself in a box it seems! [name]Both[/name] the girls’ names have 6 letter 1st names that end in -ie/are considered nicknames (though they don’t seem too nickname-y to me and work fine on their own) and 8 letter middle names. Though we already have her middle name picked out: it’ll be [name]Adelaide[/name] after OH’s great aunt [name]Addie[/name].
I think I could be okay with a name that ends in -y so long as it has 6 letters.
Some first names I like:
[name]Sylvie[/name] (one of my top picks, but I’m not sure if it sounds too french next to the very english sounding [name]Maisie[/name] and [name]Birdie[/name]?)
[name]Tillie[/name] (another top pick. [name]Matilda[/name] has ALWAYS been one of my favorite names and I love that it has 2 “i’s” like [name]Maisie[/name] and [name]Birdie[/name]. I know—I’m weird!)
[name]Trixie[/name] (OH has nixed this one, he says it reminds him of a stripper name)
[name]Tessie[/name]
[name]Millie[/name] (I’m not sure if it’s too much with [name]Maisie[/name] ?)
[name]Hattie[/name]
Again, her middle name’s going to be [name]Adelaide[/name].
[name]Sylvie[/name] [name]Adelaide[/name] is really wonderful, but do you want her name to be an “ee” last syllable also? If yes, i would suggest this. If not, i would recommend [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Adelaide[/name].
[name]Both[/name] are lovely in my opinion! (not a big fan of [name]Hattie[/name] or [name]Trixie[/name], and I do think [name]Millie[/name] is too similar to [name]Maisie[/name])
I love [name]Sylvie[/name]! I don’t think it sounds out-of-place, in comparison to [name]Maisie[/name] and [name]Birdie[/name]. It’s my personal fave out of the options you have listed.
Some others:
[name]Aubrie[/name]
[name]Audrie[/name] (although these two many not work, considering the MN)
[name]Carrie[/name]
[name]Cherie[/name]
[name]Colbie[/name]
[name]Dottie[/name]
[name]Dulcie[/name]
[name]Goldie[/name] (love this one!)
[name]Kizzie[/name]
[name]Ruthie[/name]
[name]Zoelie[/name]
Out of your choices I like [name]Sylvie[/name] and [name]Tessie[/name] the best.
From other posters I like the name [name]Sadie[/name], but not the suggested spellings. Again with [name]Penny[/name] and [name]Molly[/name], I don’t like the “ie” ending.
I think [name]Sylvie[/name] [name]Adelaide[/name] would be really cute! I don’t think it sounds too French with [name]Maisie[/name] and [name]Birdie[/name]. I actually think it goes with them really well. I also liked [name]Hattie[/name] from your list. [name]Hattie[/name] [name]Adelaide[/name] is adorable! I do really like [name]Tillie[/name], as well, but I love the name [name]Matilda[/name] and almost think you should go with [name]Matilda[/name] with the nickname option of [name]Millie[/name] or [name]Tillie[/name], or even [name]Mattie[/name]. Other names you might like:
[name]Love[/name] your list especially: [name]Sylvie[/name], [name]Tillie[/name] and [name]Tessie[/name]. I would probably choose [name]Tessie[/name] as a sister for [name]Maisie[/name] and [name]Birdie[/name] (gorgeous names, btw) but Slyvie is a close second for me. other suggestions are:
I really like [name]Dulcie[/name] and actually [name]Goldie[/name] was a name I was in love with… until OH pointed out our daughters have pretty dark hair. He says she’d be a walking oxymoron. Men. lol
Names I really liked from other posters:
[name]Sookie[/name] (but only spelled this way [name]Sukey[/name]/[name]Sukie[/name] kinda make me think of sucky.)
[name]Hallie[/name]
[name]Lottie[/name]
I’m sorry it took me so long to get back to you guys, but thank you so much you’ve given me some really great suggestions and I appreciate it so much!
Lol, they do like to over-think it sometimes. The only [name]Goldie[/name] I’ve known was a Jewish girl with dark brunette hair and brown eyes and the name fit her personality completely (bubbly, energetic, fun), but I think most people automatically think of [name]Goldie[/name] Hawn so they associate the name with blonde hair and blue eyes. But it all comes down to personal preferences in the end. Good luck in the decision and congrats on your new baby girl!
Suggestions:
[name]Minnie[/name]
[name]Jessie[/name]
[name]Gertie[/name]
[name]Addie[/name]
[name]Mattie[/name] (if you like [name]Matilda[/name] - maybe [name]Mattie[/name]?)
[name]Ellie[/name]
[name]Georgie[/name]
[name]Billie[/name]
[name]Effie[/name]
I would strongly suggest you to take a look at [name]Gertie[/name] and [name]Effie[/name], I would say [name]Billie[/name] but I think it is too close to [name]Birdie[/name]. [name]Effie[/name] seems like the perfect name to me, other then the fact that it has 5 letters not 6 and it doesnt have the double I. [name]Gertie[/name] has the 6 letters, but not the double I. I think if you just really focused on the “ends in ie” and “is a nick-name name” it will be theme enough.
[name]Effie[/name] [name]Adelaide[/name] sounds BEAUTIFUL. [name]Gertie[/name] Aledlaide does not roll of the tounge as well, but I am sure it would be fine. Oh, I also think [name]Minnie[/name] would work well, and though close to [name]Maisie[/name] I think it is far enough that it would work. [name]Minnie[/name] [name]Adelaide[/name], pretty. But [name]Effie[/name] [name]Adelaide[/name] just seems perfect to me.
Good [name]Luck[/name]! [name]Love[/name] you girls names!
It is so nice to meet someone with the same kind of OCD as me.
I love [name]Tillie[/name] [name]Adelaide[/name]. I think it sounds great with [name]Birdie[/name] and [name]Maisie[/name] and I love the double I as well.
I actually know a little girl called [name]Dulcie[/name] [name]Adelaide[/name]! I adore her name! My other favourites from your list are [name]Tillie[/name] and [name]Sylvie[/name].
Good luck!
I like [name]Hattie[/name] [name]Adelaide[/name] best. I think that [name]Tessie[/name] is lovely too, but I think it sounds too similar to [name]Maisie[/name]. Maybe that’s just me though =] I also like [name]Winnie[/name] and [name]Ginny[/name], also [name]Ginnie[/name] looks very strange, so that might not work.
i think [name]Hattie[/name] [name]Adelaide[/name] only because like you i have a touch of OCD!
[name]Sylvie[/name]-too old
[name]Tillie[/name]-like but [name]Maisie[/name], [name]Birdie[/name] and [name]Tillie[/name] not sure!
[name]Trixie[/name]-i agree with OH
[name]Tessie[/name]-again [name]Tessie[/name] and [name]Maisie[/name] (s!) [name]Birdie[/name] doesnt fit
[name]Millie[/name]-[name]Millie[/name] and [name]Maisie[/name] again [name]Birdie[/name] doesnt fit
[name]Hattie[/name]-love it so cute and unique! [name]Maisie[/name] [name]Cordelia[/name], [name]Birdie[/name] [name]Emmeline[/name] and [name]Hattie[/name] [name]Adelaide[/name]!
