Less than a month to go and can’t find a name for our [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]’s sister!
We’ve talked about [name_f]Molly[/name_f], [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Margo[/name_f]… because I thought DH was set on an M name (the girls would have his initials), but now he’s just said he was never ruling out other names… I like [name_u]Camille[/name_u], HB likes [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f]… basically we are all over the place and I’d really appreciate some new input instead of going over the names we have on our list and not being sold on any…
We liked [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] from the start - we don’t know any, and yet it’s familiar. HB is Irish (we’ll be moving back to [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] in 2 years time), and I have a [name_u]French[/name_u] background. If we go with a [name_u]French[/name_u] name, it needs to be pronouncable (a word?) in [name_f]English[/name_f] without too many complications…
Thanks all for your help! Feeling the pressure here!
Matilda is one of my absolute favourites. [name_f]My[/name_f] daughter was very nearly a [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and this next baby may be one! I adore [name_f]Margo[/name_f](t) so of your choices that’s definitely my favourite. [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_u]Camille[/name_u] are really lovely, too. Any of these three would go beautifully with [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. Some other ideas:
Oh, how I love [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]! What a great name. It’s a family name on my hubby’s side and definitely one I keep on my list for the future!
I second the choices listed here! Among my favorites for pairing with [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] are:
[name_u]Camille[/name_u]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Corinne[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Margo[/name_f]
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] (this has recently grown on me)
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f]
Matilda is such a great name. I like [name_u]Camille[/name_u], but prefer [name_f]Colette[/name_f]. It seems fresher.
Here are some [name_u]French[/name_u] suggestions that I love: (Especially [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] & [name_f]Colette[/name_f] together)
I don’t think [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] goes perfectly with [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] because it sounds like a nickname, but maybe he’s looking for something more Irish/Scottish?
Elspeth
[name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Finola[/name_f]
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f] nn [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] (why not)
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] nn [name_f]Margo[/name_f] (or even nn [name_f]Pearl[/name_f])
[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f])
Matilda is such a great name and one of my favorites. I’m sure your husband has strong opinions about Irish names, but [name_f]Niamh[/name_f] is my favorite Irish name and I think the Anglicized [name_f]Neve[/name_f] would be cute with [name_f]Matilda[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] (my favorite name) works well with [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], they are both strong but beautiful names. Easily pronounceable in [name_u]French[/name_u] and [name_f]English[/name_f].
I like pp suggestion of [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] as well!
