A sister for Sadie Margaret

Hello All,

I need help with a baby girls name to go with sister [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f].

Ideally we would like to use the middle name [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] or [name_f]Frances[/name_f] (both family names)

First names we like are

[name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
[name_u]Hazel[/name_u]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]

I am open to pairing suggestions and other first name suggestions also.
Thanks for your help, I’m not sure why but it seems harder the second time around haha.

[name_f]My[/name_f] vote is [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]!

[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] means [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], which could be kind of a cute connection for the girls or could be a reason to use [name_f]Frances[/name_f] instead.

I love [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Frances[/name_f]. They are my n.1 and n.2 of my list of [name_f]English[/name_f] names.
The other choices are awesome too

[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] are maybe too matchy, let’s delete that

[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] (My top choice)
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] (second choice)
[name_u]Hazel[/name_u] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]

Sadie Margaret is such a beautiful name!

I probably wouldn’t use Sylvie unless this going to be your final child and you want matchy, as it might commit you to a S - ie name down the track. Too similar for me!

My daughter’s first MN is Frances - I love it!

Hazel Frances is so pretty! That would be my pick.

Or else Mabel Frances. (I do love Mabel, probably marginally more than Hazel - though some might say Sabel and Mabel or Sadie and Mabie)

I love Rose but don’t think it flows as well to Pearl or Frances. So if you want to keep Rose, which is one of my favourite names, I think Rose Francie (to lose the repeat S, and a nice repeat of -ie of Sadie) or Rose Francine.

I think a longer first name flows best into Pearl - eg Abigail Pearl, Josephine Pearl (but maybe Josephine too stuffy with Sadie?), Claudia Pearl, Matilda Pearl, Lydia Pearl, Avalon Pearl, Tallulah Pearl (love this with Sadie Margaret!), Harriet Pearl (Hattie), even Frances Pearl nn Francie would be very charming!

On the other hand, Margaret means Pearl so are we sure we need to double up on the meaning - ie could Margaret stand in for Pearl as well? Could you use Greta as a first and that be a double down on Margaret/Pearl? Eg Greta Frances.

Otherwise: Eliza Frances, Elsa Frances, Norah Frances or June Frances.

Anyway, would love to hear your thoughts - you’re definitely on the right track! Hazel or Mabel would be perfect, and Rose with some tweaks!

Great names! [name_f]My[/name_f] top 2 are [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f].

Congratulations!

Firstly [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is gorgeous :honeybee:

You have a truly wonderful shortlist honestly [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is one of my favourite names she’s so darn romantic, has wonderful floral connotations, feels so timeless and sounds beautiful with [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] she’s so classic.

[name_f]My[/name_f] other favourite is [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] she’s wholesome, sweet, outdoorsy and bright with lovely autumnal imagery. [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] & [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] make a lovely vintage inspired pairing. [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is a lovely combination and I love the connection to her sisters name through the meaning of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f].

[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] is sweet, fun, vintage choice with a lovely meaning to match. But I just massively prefer [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] + [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. Concerning [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] she’s also lovely but feels very similar to [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] so personally I wouldn’t use.

Suggestions…

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Faith[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_u]June[/name_u] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps

Thanks everyone, yes I love that [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] means [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is my late mother in laws name so it was a must for our first daughter.

[name_f]Frances[/name_f] is my Mums name so I am leaning towards that for the middle name as it seems right to have our girls have both of our Mums names.

Some lovely suggestions on pairing.
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] and [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] are sounding/feeling right.

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] is a sweet suggestion I love the vintage feel of that name too.

I was concerned about [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] being a bit too matchy with the S and ending in ie.

I’m so glad I posted, I have been a long time reader but this is my first time posting.

[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is lovely

[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] is my favourite option, but I’d like [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] [name_f]Frances[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] too!

With [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], I’d suggest:

[name_u]Frankie[/name_u] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]

[name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Lola[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]

[name_u]Josie[/name_u] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]

i like hazel best with sadie !! it has a warmth and sparkiness to it (like sadie!) that the others don’t to the same degree. with hazel i would go for frances as a middle - i prefer to avoid two nature names together, and hazel frances is just so cosy and bright

I love rose or hazel best :purple_heart:

I think [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] are so gorgeous as sisters! [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]! (I wouldn’t use [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] only because [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] means ‘pearl.’) If not [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], I’d absolutely go for [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]. What a great match with [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]. And that’s coming from someone who’s got [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] on her own list! All four names on your first name list are completely perfect, so I really would say there isn’t a choice that’s better than the rest!

I love [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]!

Like others have said, I’d go with [name_f]Frances[/name_f] as the middle since [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] already means “pearl”. And I like [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] best, though it is rather matchy with [name_f]Sadie[/name_f].

Other ideas, since you mentioned being open to them:

[name_f]Bessie[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Bettie[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]

[name_f]Ellen[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]

I like [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] was almost Frankie… it was our second choice. But I just loved [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] so much because I thought it was sweet but also sassy

[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is very sweet too I love the nutcracker

I love Sadie Margaret and Rose Frances together!! I like it because they compliment each other and have different vowel sounds. I think Sylvie is too matchy with Sadie.

Other suggestions:
Ella Frances
Ember Frances
Josie Pearl
Jovie Frances
Leni Pearl
Nellie Frances
Remi Frances
Tilly Frances

I agree the second one can feel more tricky!

Sadie & Mabel are the best pairing to my ear.

Between Pearl and Frances, I would lean towards Frances.

I like Hazel, but not with Sadie, and here’s why.
Say- and Hay- are far too close for my preference, mouth feel wise. May- is a different motion entirely from Say (in east coast US dialect).

Downvote Sylvie and Rose. Sylvie is far too close, and for the verve that a name like Sadie has, Rose feels just a bit uninspired? in comparison.

I think Mabel’s the clear winner, pen down, final answer

If you are looking for other name suggestions to pair with Sadie, I would throw in the ring:

  • Tess
  • Tessa
  • Quinn
  • Gwen
  • Lydia
