This is my first post, i hae been an avid follower of nameberry since me and my fiance were TTC last year.
When it came to choosing names with for our first born son we had three names so we could decide what to call him when we met him.
When we meet him we agreed he was a [name]Tristan[/name], his name came from the film Stardust which me and my fiance fell in love in when i was pregnant.
We have found out the sex again and we are having a girl. Our surname is Mittens, which should be great for a girl as you can go really cutesy.
Unfortunately me and my partners styles are completely different he likes [name]Lucy[/name], [name]Emily[/name], [name]Helen[/name] & [name]Hannah[/name]. My style is more [name]Esme[/name], [name]Matilda[/name], [name]Elodie[/name] & [name]Nora[/name].
So finally after going through loads of girls names (i even pulled the national statistics spreadsheets for [name]England[/name] and [name]Wales[/name]) the only name me and partner can agree on is [name]Cerys[/name] (proun. keh-riss)
So first question is do [name]Tristan[/name] & [name]Cerys[/name] go together? Are there any suggestions for other girls names that suit both [name]Tristan[/name] and the surname?
[name]Welcome[/name] to Nameberry and congrats on your pregnancy. [name]Tristan[/name] and [name]Cerys[/name] are two Welsh names so I think they’re fine together. With a somewhat cutesy word surname like Mittens, I would advise on finding something stronger but yet feminine enough not to overpower the softer sound of [name]Tristan[/name]. I would also avoid another “word” first name (eg. [name]Scarlett[/name] Mittens sounds like a description of a THING rather than a name of a [name]PERSON[/name]). Here are some suggestions.
I agree with your suggestion regarding names like [name]Scarlett[/name] we have also ruled out [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name] for that reason as well.
[name]Love[/name] your suggestions of [name]Meredith[/name], [name]Audrey[/name], [name]Jocelyn[/name] and [name]Isla[/name], will run past the other half. Another one of your suggestions [name]Eliza[/name] is what we will use as a middle name for [name]Cerys[/name], [name]Cerys[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Rose[/name].
Love your suggestions of Meredith, Audrey, Jocelyn and Isla,
Agreed! Those were the names on the list that stuck out to me, as well. [name]Audrey[/name] is my favorite; [name]Tristan[/name] and [name]Audrey[/name] Mittens sounds lovely to me.
I really like [name]Cerys[/name] with [name]Tristan[/name], but oooooh, I love [name]Audrey[/name]! I think [name]Tristan[/name] and [name]Audrey[/name] are completely beautiful! Good luck with your decision and congratulations
