A thread for mothers who are just curious!

We have the names for our girl/girl twins all wrapped up, and after they are born we definitely won’t be acquiring any new children for at least a couple of years, but still I sometimes find myself wondering … what would another sibling be named? I always wonder how people would perceive my naming taste, too. I am sure there are other mothers like me, not expecting and perhaps entirely finished having children, who are just curious.

So, I thought I would make a thread where mothers could post their children’s names, and ask the ever-wonderful Nameberry community what they, in their wisdom, would name another sibling. We can just post up the names, and then give suggestions for any ‘sibsets’ that we feel inspired about

To start, our children are :
[name]Ambrosia[/name] [name]Frances[/name] [name]Sofia[/name] nn [name]Rosie[/name]
[name]Jasper[/name] [name]Theodore[/name] [name]Edmond[/name]
[name]Raphael[/name] [name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Peregrine[/name] nn [name]Raffy[/name]

And we are expecting twins :
[name]Dorothea[/name] [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Blithe[/name] ([name]Blithe[/name] spelt as such to give it more of a virtue vibe) nn [name]Dottie[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name] [name]Imelda[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] nn [name]Maggie[/name].

Twinkle,

With [name]Ambrosia[/name] [name]Frances[/name] [name]Sofia[/name], [name]Jasper[/name] [name]Theodore[/name] [name]Edmond[/name], [name]Raphael[/name] [name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Peregrine[/name], [name]Dorothea[/name] [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Blithe[/name], and [name]Marigold[/name] [name]Imelda[/name] [name]Pearl[/name], I would choose:

[name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Viola[/name] [name]June[/name] ["[name]Trixie[/name]" or “[name]Bea[/name]”]
[name]Silas[/name] [name]Bartholomew[/name] [name]Henry[/name]

Take care!

[name]Lemon[/name]

PS I love [name]Beatrix[/name] with your surname, Moncrieff, and I think [name]Trixie[/name] Moncrieff is simply adorable!

Twinkle, I love your kids names. They have a classic with a twist feel. Saying that, I don’t love every single part alone.
[name]Ambrosia[/name] [name]Frances[/name] [name]Sofia[/name] is my favourite. I love every part of it and I remember when you were coming up with it. (I think I may have even suggested it) and I love how each part has meaning. I also like [name]Dorothea[/name], [name]Raphael[/name], [name]Theodore[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name]. I’m inbetween on [name]Imelda[/name], [name]Pearl[/name], [name]Blithe[/name] and [name]Marigold[/name]. They’re not my favourite names but they are very nice and fit well with the rest of your names.

The only ones I dont really like much are [name]Jasper[/name] (It’s the J that makes it sound too harsh and abrupt to me, I think. Because I like [name]Casper[/name] which seems softer somehow), [name]Edmond[/name] (I don’t like any [name]Ed[/name] names), [name]Cyrus[/name] and [name]Peregrine[/name]. The last two I don’t really dislike, I more feel nothing for them. They’re just a little unusual for me and I feel unusual or unlikely is somehow easier on girls. On boys it often comes across as a bit too posh or something.

I remember a lot of the names you were kicking about for the twins so that’s coloured my judgement on coming up with new names for you but how about:

[name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Anthony[/name] [name]Louis[/name] nn [name]Benji[/name]
[name]Frederick[/name] [name]Gabriel[/name] [name]Tobias[/name] nn [name]Freddie[/name]
[name]Samuel[/name] [name]Graeme[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] nn [name]Sammy[/name]

[name]Juniper[/name] [name]Larka[/name] [name]Collete[/name] nn [name]Juni[/name]
[name]Felicity[/name] [name]Roberta[/name] [name]Germaine[/name] nn Lissy
[name]Selena[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Wren[/name] nn [name]Sally[/name]

[name]Hi[/name] Twinkle,

Your children have amazing unique names!
[name]Raphael[/name] is my top name if I were ever to have another son but I would probably pair it with something traditional like [name]Raphael[/name] [name]George[/name]/ [name]Charles[/name]/ [name]Henry[/name].
I love [name]Jasper[/name]'s name combination- all three names sound perfect!
You seem to like classic names, preferable those that are fairly unusual and quite formal and vintage sounding.

Boys:
Bartholemew *
[name]Linus[/name] *
[name]Julius[/name]*
[name]August[/name]
[name]Rufus[/name]

Girls:
[name]Adelaide[/name]*
[name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Genevra[/name]
[name]Constance[/name]
[name]Gwendoline[/name]*
[name]Eleanora[/name]
[name]Odessa[/name]

I recently started a thread like this with my children’s names too but will have another go and maybe I will get some more ideas. They seem a bit plain compared to your children’s name! :

wow, those are such perfect storybook names!

i’d suggest [name]Sophia[/name] [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Marie[/name] for a girl and [name]Adrian[/name] Phinneus [name]Charles[/name] for a boy.

I would chose:
[name]Anneliese[/name] [name]Patricia[/name] [name]Harriet[/name] “[name]Annie[/name]”
[name]Wilhelmina[/name] [name]Coralie[/name] [name]Iris[/name] “[name]Willa[/name]”
or
[name]Tobias[/name] [name]Armand[/name] [name]Irving[/name]
[name]Emmett[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]Finian[/name]

I am curious as to what you would name another sibling to my kiddos:

[name]Henry[/name] [name]James[/name] [name]Louis[/name]
[name]Dorothy[/name] [name]Annelise[/name] [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Lavender[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Adelaide[/name] [name]Rosemary[/name]

Boy and girl option anyone?? Thanks!

[name]Hi[/name]!

I think I would choose:

[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Hazel[/name]
[name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Marigold[/name]
[name]Madeline[/name] [name]Eulalia[/name] [name]Primrose[/name]

[name]August[/name] [name]Charles[/name] [name]Patrick[/name]
[name]Frederick[/name] [name]Arthur[/name] [name]Paul[/name]
[name]Oscar[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Felix[/name]

I picked [name]Amelia[/name] ([name]Bedelia[/name]) and [name]Madeline[/name] because I remember you have a fondness for character names! Take care!

[name]Lemon[/name]

Mummyto3 - I adore [name]Maia[/name], [name]Lucas[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name] (obviously, as [name]Cecily[/name] is one of the twins’ middles)!

Perhaps :
[name]Julia[/name] (or [name]Juliet[/name]) [name]Miriam[/name]
[name]Paloma[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]
[name]August[/name] [name]Edward[/name]
[name]Oscar[/name] [name]William[/name]

Also :
[name]Annika[/name]
[name]Freya[/name]
[name]Petra[/name]
[name]Beatrice[/name]/x
[name]Adelaide[/name]
[name]Victoria[/name]
[name]Felix[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name].

Dotsmom - you have brilliant taste! So many of your names have been on our list at one point or another, and obviously we are expecting a little [name]Dorothea[/name] …

Perhaps :
[name]Edward[/name] [name]Felix[/name] [name]Evander[/name]
[name]Frederick[/name] [name]Peter[/name] [name]August[/name] nn [name]Freddie[/name]
[name]Charles[/name] [name]Otto[/name] [name]Dashiell[/name] nn [name]Charlie[/name]
[name]Arthur[/name] [name]Everett[/name] [name]Luca[/name]
[name]Alice[/name] [name]Isadora[/name] [name]Lilac[/name]
[name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Saffron[/name] nn [name]Bea[/name]/Bixie
[name]Cecelia[/name] [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Juniper[/name] nn Cece
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] nn [name]Tessa[/name]

Also :
[name]Oscar[/name]
[name]Rocco[/name]
[name]Milo[/name]
[name]Annora[/name] nn [name]Annie[/name]/[name]Nora[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name]
[name]Magnolia[/name].

[name]Hi[/name]! I must have missed this one, MummyTo3!

[name]Helena[/name] [name]Lucille[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name] [name]Camila[/name]
[name]Thalia[/name] [name]Marisol[/name]

[name]Damian[/name] [name]Russell[/name]

Take care!

[name]Lemon[/name]

I looove your kids names!!! [name]LOVE[/name] them! They are so pretty, cute, elegant, charming and unexpected all at the same time. That creates quite the challenge.

Let’s see.

Boy:
To go with [name]Henry[/name]:
[name]Edward[/name] (nn [name]Teddy[/name]) [name]Thomas[/name] [name]Flynn[/name] ____
[name]Truman[/name] [name]Augustus[/name] [name]Vaughn[/name] ____ (nn [name]True[/name] or [name]Augie[/name] or [name]Gus[/name])
(I love [name]Vaughn[/name] as a mn)

Girl:
[name]Penelope[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Lily[/name] (nn [name]Penny[/name] or [name]Poppy[/name])
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Virginia[/name] [name]Daisy[/name](nn [name]Josie[/name])

I love all their names!
I see all first names contain at least one ‘r’ and one ‘a’… They’re all quite vintage and longish, not too common but not too ‘out there’.

You’ve already been given the suggestions of [name]Bartholomew[/name] and [name]Beatrix[/name], both stunning. I also think [name]Archibald[/name], [name]Barnaby[/name], [name]Ephraim[/name], [name]Bernard[/name] and [name]Adair[/name] could work well for boys.
As for girls, I like [name]Armande[/name], [name]Bernadine[/name], [name]Raymonde[/name] and [name]Seraphine[/name].

[name]Hi[/name]! I must have missed this one, MummyTo3!

[name]Helena[/name] [name]Lucille[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name] [name]Camila[/name]
[name]Thalia[/name] [name]Marisol[/name]

These are all lovely suggestions [name]Lemon[/name]. [name]Penelope[/name] would definitely be a top contender if we ever have another.

[name]Damian[/name] [name]Russell[/name]

I have to admit that I don’t like [name]Damian[/name] at all as it reminds me of the devils child in the film!

Take care!

Your children have wonderful names! I hope little [name]Henry[/name] is settling in well to his new home and that you are coping with having your hands so full!
I will try to pop back with some suggestions later!

To go with those gorgeous names:

[name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Everett[/name] [name]George[/name]
[name]Theodore[/name] [name]Lucian[/name] [name]Charles[/name]
[name]Frederick[/name] [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Clyde[/name]
[name]Arthur[/name] [name]Rufus[/name] [name]Franklin[/name]

[name]Adelaide[/name] [name]Jessamine[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]- sorry just noticed you already used [name]Adelaide[/name]!
[name]Constance[/name] [name]Juniper[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Rosaline[/name] [name]Cassia[/name] [name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name]/ [name]Marguerite[/name] [name]Kitty[/name] [name]Plum[/name]
[name]Eleanora[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Clementine[/name] [name]Bryony[/name] [name]Jane[/name]

[name]Peter[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name]
[name]Laura[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]

and (today I’m feeling like)

[name]Theodore[/name] [name]Andrew[/name]
and
[name]Veronica[/name] [name]Lillian[/name]

[/name]

[name]Susan[/name], I love your kids’ names!
[name]Peter[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name]
[name]Laura[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]

For siblings, how about:
[name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Anna[/name] [name]Caroline[/name]

I love [name]Anna[/name] [name]Caroline[/name], but [name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Oliver[/name] sounds too jolly. I love [name]Theodore[/name] and [name]Lionel[/name] more. They sound more introverted. I think [name]Benjamin[/name] is a great name though. Another problem with [name]Benjamin[/name] is that he’d be [name]Ben[/name] [name]Chesney[/name]. Sounds like Bench Esney. Plus I’ve known some Bens that I don’t really like that much.
But [name]Anna[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] is a name that I really love. I also love [name]Anna[/name] [name]Catherine[/name].
