A thread for people (like me) too nosy for their own good!

[name]Hi[/name] everyone,

Was just being nosy and wondering how old everyone on this site is? [name]How[/name] many kids you have and what age you had them at? I’ll start:

I’m 22 and have a 3 (almost 4!) year old son (Rodaidh), a 5 month old daughter ([name]Isla[/name]) and am 18 weeks preg with BG twins (to be named [name]Mairi[/name] and Tearlaidh)! I was 19 when I had my first (just after we got married…). None were specifically planned, just happy accidents!

Look forward to hearing your stories!

Lilidh x

I’m only 15, but of course have an obsession with names.
I have no kids, but I do have a cat who is like my baby. Her name is [name]Trixie[/name].

And I think your kids’ names are very cool, I especially love [name]Isla[/name].

I’m 26. I have a 2-year-old daughter [name]Scarlett[/name] who will soon be 3 and a week-old daughter [name]Sosie[/name]. I had my first child at 23. Like Lilidh, we have happy “accidents.”

Congrats on [name]Sosie[/name]! I’ll bet [name]Scarlett[/name] is a very proud big sister!

I’m another 15 year old with a name obsession! I don’t have kids, but I have two cats, [name]Milo[/name] and [name]Sylvie[/name].

I’m eighteen. I don’t have any kids and am not sure if I want any in the future. I’m just a weirdo with an obsession with names. :stuck_out_tongue: My mom says I was an accident, too. XD

I do have a kitty that I treat like my own child. Her name is [name]Baby[/name]. And I’m getting a puppy in [name]June[/name] named [name]Kashmir[/name] (pn “cashmere”).

Hello, Lilidh (again)! I’m super-nosy, too; this is a brilliant idea

My name is [name]Winnie[/name] ([name]Winifred[/name]!), and my husband is [name]Rupert[/name]. As a [name]Brit[/name], I hope you spot they teddy bear theme X) I am 29 (I feel so old!) and our children are 4 ([name]Rosie[/name]), almost 2 ([name]Jasper[/name]) and seven months ([name]Raffy[/name]). [name]Rosie[/name] and [name]Jasper[/name] were adopted. I am currently pregnant with twins, who will be called [name]Dottie[/name] and [name]Maggie[/name], and are due in early [name]July[/name] (but will probably make an appearance earlier … you know multiples).

I’m going to talk aimlessly now - I hope you don’t mind. For a while, I have been having slight regrets over [name]Raffy[/name]'s name. Because, you know, he doesn’t have any options there - [name]Raphael[/name] [name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Peregrine[/name]. He has to be foppish, and artsy, and perhaps collect top hats and velvet jackets. Sometimes I wish one of his middles were [name]John[/name], and he could happily revert to it and become an accountant.

But I do love all of his names. [name]Just[/name] perhaps, if I were to name him over, I wouldn’t use all of them at once.

I feel much better now  I think I just needed to admit that! No consolation needed

Haha that made me smile, twinkle! I plan on giving any future children the same kind of names – ones with a rather large amount of personality. Why be [name]John[/name] when you could be [name]Raphael[/name]? Or in my case, [name]Leopold[/name], or [name]Phineas[/name], or [name]Horatio[/name], or [name]Barnaby[/name]! Those names are so much fun, and so interesting too. They’re quirky, yes, but they’re also charming and even literary. And they can totally work on accountants

also I’m amelie and I’m 19  and childless, as of yet – nothing but a name-obsessed college kid

[name]Hi[/name] [name]Martina[/name],

Nope thats not too personal! You sound like you have a proper plan! With us it was more a case of not trying to not get pregnant. We’re not big long term planners and work on the theory that if it happens it happens, we both wanted a large family anyway…

Rodaidh was a honeymoon baby… I suppose [name]Isla[/name] was sort of not an accident in that we just stopped not trying to not get pregnant. The twins were a complete slipup though, I mean who plans to have more babies a month after giving birth… But that’s where we are and it’s not ideal but we’ll cope and be more careful next time!

[name]Micheal[/name] and I got married when we finished school and we now run the family farm with [name]Micheal[/name]'s brother so we never had to consider student loans etc. I really don’t envy you that!

Good luck and I hope your plans work out for you!

Best wishes, Lilidh

I’m 18 (almost 19) and have no children yet though would like to have a few five to ten years from now! My real name is [name]Lisa[/name] [name]Paige[/name] (my family calls me by my first and middle names, though to most of my friends I’m just [name]Lisa[/name]), and Freckles was a nickname I had growing up. I absolutely love names. I have two cats named [name]Zak[/name] and [name]Emmy[/name]. I only named the first (my sister got naming rights over the second), and he is named after my favorite designer, [name]Zak[/name] Posen. [name]Just[/name] another name obsessed college girl

I am 26 and we have one daughter, [name]Emery[/name] [name]Jane[/name], who will very soon be a year old (sigh) ?! We had her right before our first wedding anniversary. I am currently hoping for another wonderful accident ?!

I’m sixteen and my mother and I name absolutely everything! Not joking, at all. My cars name is Emril, hers is [name]Meredith[/name] and my dad fears for our minds.

I have three dogs, whom I love, and I named them all.

Cokie (prn Co-kee) [name]Starr[/name]

[name]Sofie[/name] [name]Rose[/name]

[name]Claire[/name]-[name]Bear[/name] Blessing

So, there you go, in the perfect world I don’t live, my husbands name would be [name]Jason[/name] Mikail [name]Snow[/name], and we’d have a daughter named [name]Gwendolyn[/name].

Thanks for sharing!

Goodness! I never realized there were so many of us name obsessed college students here!

I don’t have any children yet, but, as apparently is the current trend: I do have two cats

Talbus [name]Bartholomew[/name] (nn Talby)
[name]Gisele[/name] [name]Anastasia[/name] (nn Gissy)

I am recently engaged, however, and my fiance and I both agree that we want a whole mess of chidren, so I should be asking advice soon enough. We have very different ideas of what makes a good name, so we’ll see.

[name]Hi[/name], all!

Congratulations to you mothers on your sure-to-be lovely children, and to those of you currently using your maternal instincts to practice on some pets, congrats as well!

If you don’t mind me asking, mothers, what are your education backgrounds like? [name]Do[/name] you work, or are you a home-maker, or do you dabble in both worlds? And, if you don’t mind me asking, how did you and your significant other arrive at an agreement on such things? If it is too personal, you don’t need to answer - this is just me (another college student!) being curious…

And, for those who don’t know, I’m [name]Lauren[/name], and I’ll be 20 in [name]June[/name]. I’m currently a - childless - university student!

[name]Lemon[/name]

It’s really interesting learning so much about everyone!

My name is [name]Sunny[/name] (my mom was a hippie…) and I’m 23. I’ve been with my husband for almost 4 years now and we are thinking about kids in the near future. So I am understandably obsessed with names right now! We are animal lovers and have 2 dogs and 3 cats named [name]Ziggy[/name], Blondie, [name]Jack[/name], Panda, and [name]Louie[/name].

I’m another college student (19), no kids! [name]Just[/name] this year I “came out” to my friends as a name nerd and it’s been fun realizing how many others there are…guys too! I’ve been in a serious relationship for almost two years now with my best friend of six years. He thinks my name obsession is insane, but he’ll listen to my favorites list every two months or so. =P. He hates 90% of them, so it’ll be interesting when we get to the point of having kids! Won’t be for a looong time though.

Aw, I love learning about everyone here

I’m [name]Elizabeth[/name] and I’m also a university student. I’m 20. And yes, I also have a cat. His name is [name]Ned[/name]. No plans for kids with the SO for a while, I’m still in uni and then plan on getting my MA after that. Maybe some time after that, once I have a decent job! I looove talking about names too and that’s why I’m here

Wow! So many young name nerds! I feel positively ancient. I’m [name]Sarah[/name], 30, from New Zealand. I have one darling son named [name]Josiah[/name] [name]Louie[/name] [name]James[/name], who is two-and-a-bit. Unfortunately, due to circumstances outside of my control, he’s likely to be my only child.

I know that [name]Josiah[/name] is getting fairly popular in the US, but here in NZ most people have never heard of it. I get quite a few weird looks when people ask his name. I had always loved the name [name]Joseph[/name] (still do), but my surname starts with ‘Ph’ and I didn’t like the way the two names blended together. When I heard [name]Josiah[/name] I just knew that that would be my son’s name. Thankfully my husband agreed - but only after a few months’ convincing.

In response to [name]Lemon[/name] - I’m a high-school teacher.

lemon.

My husband and I run our family farm with [name]Micheal[/name]'s brother so I sort of work flexible hours doing most of the paper work and producing the food for everyone! I’m lucky in that if I’m tired etc. that I don’t have to work as it’ll normally wait a few days.

I’d say that if I was working that I wouldn’t have wanted to go back to work after having the kids, it’s enough of a full time job running around after them!

[name]Hope[/name] thats useful! Lilidh x

My name is [name]Stephanie[/name]; I’m 23 and have been married for 2 years. We’re not congruent on when we want kids – so I indulge myself in my dreams by reading and posting on this blog! Hubby is starting to talk about it a little, so hopefully we’ll stop birth control this year.

I’m a massage therapist, and I plan on being a stay-at home mom!
