A unisex name for Milo's sibling?

[name]Hi[/name] there!

Have been spending far too many hours on here reading, thought it was time to make my first post!

Our second baby is due in early [name]August[/name], a brother or sister (a little old fashioned, I’m not finding out the sex!) for [name]Milo[/name] [name]Mitchell[/name].

I just love the name [name]August[/name] for a boy, but I’m also thinking it would be lovely for a girl too…
In fact, the middle name would probably be [name]Addison[/name] (hubby’s middle name), which is also unisex.

[name]August[/name] [name]Addison[/name], what do you think? Is it truly unisex?
Too cutesy with [name]Milo[/name] [name]Mitchell[/name], or do you like the alliteration? And is it too much to be born in [name]August[/name] too?

Sorry, [name]August[/name] is all boy to me. It may be used for girls occasionally, but, since it’s currently experiencing and upswing in popularity for boys, I think most people would assume your child is a boy. This is especially true with a unisex middle. I do think [name]August[/name] [name]Addison[/name] would be great if you have a son!

Honestly, I strongly dislike [name]August[/name] for a girl. Like raptreverie, [name]August[/name] sounds all boy to me. But what about [name]Augusta[/name] for a girl? That’s a beautiful name, and I think [name]Augusta[/name] [name]Addison[/name], as does [name]August[/name] [name]Addison[/name], sounds elegant.

I am such a fan of alliteration. If you look in my signiture you’ll see both of my top girls combos are alliterative. However if you have more children you may feel as though you have to stick with that “theme” and I think more than two would be too much. I dislike [name]August[/name] on a boy or girl (not a fan of “Au” names in general so don’t take it personally) but I like [name]Addison[/name] on a girl a lot. Because I think of [name]August[/name] on the boy and [name]Addison[/name] on a girl the combo balances each other out although I would prefer [name]Addison[/name] [name]August[/name]

Thanks for you feedback everyone - food for thought!

I love [name]August[/name] for a girl. I don’t know if I love [name]August[/name] [name]Addison[/name]. Something about the flow just doesn’t work for me. I think I also prefer [name]Addison[/name] [name]August[/name].

Agreed. I like the suggestion of [name]Augusta[/name] but I’d avoid [name]Addison[/name] for a girl. With [name]Milo[/name] and [name]Mitchell[/name], [name]Addison[/name] only sounds trendy (again, that’s for a girl). [name]Augusta[/name] [name]Adelaide[/name] or [name]Augusta[/name] [name]Adeline[/name] sound nice.

[name]August[/name] [name]Addison[/name] is wonderful for a boy. But I agree with others that it doesn’t quite work on a girl. If you don’t go with the feminized [name]Augusta[/name] for a daughter how do you feel about [name]Autumn[/name]?

I think I’m more bothered by an [name]August[/name] born in [name]August[/name]…but I’m not sure why. Anyway…

[name]August[/name] [name]Addison[/name] is totally androgynous, which I tend to like. I don’t attach a gender to [name]August[/name], and although [name]Addison[/name] is a boy name to me it’s also a surname so I know it’s gender neutral. I also like alliteration. I think [name]August[/name] [name]Addison[/name] is a wonderful name, boy or girl

I would assume [name]August[/name] [name]Addison[/name] was a boy, but I wouldn’t be surprised to meet a girl named [name]August[/name]. I think it could work for either.
