[name_u]Baby[/name_u] girl is over a week old and DH and I still can’t decide on a name. We have another DD named [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]. It seems like we’ve looked at every names possible and at this point it’s causing a rift between DH and I because we cannot agree or make a decision.
We like names that are not popular, easy to spell and pronounce, 2-3 syllable names, and would flow well with [name_f]Elowen[/name_f].
DH’s choices:
[name_f]Arla[/name_f] - I don’t like it, but he’s persistent on this name
[name_f]Wrenley[/name_f] - I told him it sounds too “made up”
Endelyn - I’m afraid it’s too similar to [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
My choices:
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] - DH hates this name, he says it’s too harsh sounding
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] - DH thinks it’s doesn’t flow well and not impressed by the name
[name_f]Aria[/name_f] - we both like this name, but it’s too popular so we’re definitely not going to use it.
At this point, we’re frustrated, cranky and tired because we’re getting no sleep with a newborn. We need help!
Congratulations for your little girl! I hope both of you are doing well.
I’m sorry but I don’t like any of your husband’s choices… However, I really like [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] and [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]. I think [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] would be a great name for [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]'s little sister. [name_f]Aria[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] or [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] would be stunning names.
You did a great job naming [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]! I think that [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] & [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] are beautiful, but I guess that you have to keep looking.

Guinvere-my all time favorite name…I don’t usually suggest it for fear of over exposure, but see if you like it.
I feel like [name_f]Arla[/name_f]/[name_f]Aria[/name_f] is where your closest overlap is. It feels like you both like names with a lot of vowel sounds that are on the uncommon side.
Some suggestions in that vein:
[name_f]Amaya[/name_f]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f]
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f]
[name_f]Orla[/name_f]
[name_f]Odessa[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Odessa[/name_f] is the best option. Not overly-used, intuitively pronounced and spelled, sounds great with [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] without sounding like [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], and has those strong vowel sounds. Good luck!

I love [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] with [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], they’re both such lovely names… It’s a shame your partner doesn’t like it! Some other ideas (sorry for any repeats):
I like [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] and [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] as well, they sound lovely together!

My son was “little guy” till he was 2 1/2 weeks old, don’t stress about it too much! You’ll find the perfect name eventually:)
Oh my goodness I love [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] and all the suggestions that have followed.
I feel [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] is the perfect match in both cadence and fantasy feel. Plus it’s an A name like you both suggested and has that L sound your husband seems to favour. She could be [name_f]Ava[/name_f] which is nice and popular while [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] is very unique.
I really like [name_f]Wrenley[/name_f] with [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] actually and I dont think it sounds too made up and since [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is gaining in popularity i think its recognizable but still very different.
It’s a shame he doesn’t like [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], it works so well with Elowyn! If I was in your situation, I would probably go for [name_f]Aria[/name_f], if it’s the only one you both like. Yes it’s popular, but I wouldn’t say so much so that it should prevent you from choosing it. It’s a gorgeous name. Maybe you could even go for a longer, more unusual form such as [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]?
Since you considered [name_f]Arla[/name_f], have you considered [name_f]Arlette[/name_f]? It’s a more modern version of [name_f]Arlene[/name_f]. It is not in the top 100, has two syllables, and may be easy to pronounce or spell. It goes well with [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] as well.
Other names you may consider:
[name_f]Ottoline[/name_f]
[name_f]Tulia[/name_f]
[name_f]Junia[/name_f]
[name_f]Abital[/name_f]
[name_f]Apolline[/name_f]
